Heres the thing about this matchup. SMG is arguably the best 3D platformer of the generation, BUT, this is the generation where basically nobody made 3D platformers because nobody wants to play them. So if we're going by games of the generation Rock Band MUST take this because it was far more influential to the generation, despite both games being the last hoorah for dying genres.

Sorry Saints Row, I love you so much, but I gotta go with Walking Dead here.

Man, I hate Skyrim for being the game the internet refuses to shut the fuck up about. But I don't think Sleeping Dogs was as good of a game as Skyrim. Guess I'll still vote Sleeping Dogs, just for the shin breaking.

I think Fallout 3 was awesome, despite not being what Fallout fans were looking for. However, I think Witcher 2 set a much higher bar in terms of RPG player choice and mature storytelling.

Alpha Protocol and The Saboteur.

Alpha Protocol definitely had it's problems on the gameplay side of things, but the story and how it's structured is just amazing fun. Also it's a spy RPG. Spy RPG!

The Saboteur is an amazing open world game. Hey, do you feel like strapping a ton of RDX on a car and driving it into a Nazi security checkpoint and blowing it to hell? How about fighting on a train going through the whole city? Jumping out of a burning blimp? I love the setting of Nazi occupied france, the black and white thing is amazing and the tone of the game is a fun mix of humor and real serious shit. Also the ending is fucking incredible.

Oh man, The Saboteur has to be the most underrated. I remember the only place to get that game on PC was direct 2 drive, and that service doesn't even exist anymore. Gameplay and story-wise it was awesome. Sure, we've had underrated goodies like Alpha Protocol, Binary Domain, Spec ops, Valkyria Chronicles, Singularity, Wolfenstein, and many more, but at least people occasionally talk about them. I haven't heard anybody mention that game in years, and it's not a very old game.

AODA is actually really good. Yeah, the Butcher Bay part is better, but the whole package is well worth checking out.

I don't hate MOBAs, but I hate how MOBAs and tower defense games are replacing RTS's in terms of talent and funding. So many RTS devs have gone on to make MOBAs or MOBA-likes. Then there's the financials. We all know how publishers are always trying to chase what's big at the moment, and MOBAs are big right now. I can't even imagine how many RTS devs went to a publisher to have them say, "Hhmmm, think you could make this a MOBA? Or at least F2P?" This is coming from someone who prefers RTS over MOBAs, and is rapidly seeing their favorite genre go the route of space sims.

I'm gonna be the odd man out here and say either Timbersaw or Tinker are my favorites. I was drawn to them initially (gyro too) by their character designs, but I ended up really enjoying how they play. Neither can carry a team, but they can survive team fights and do decent damage throughout.

Fuck no, because the AAA modern shooters getting shit out annually have a direct lineage to the WWII shooters that were getting shit out annually ~8 years ago. We'd be just getting a re-skin of modern warfare games already coming out, with different guns and balancing. I'd be interested if the games were more in line with RO2 and Rising Storm, but AAA devs don't roll that way.
