RPG wise? I'm not sure... Red Dead Redemption is pretty sweet though.  Everybody's going nuts about that (including me).  If you haven't played Dragon Age: Origins, I've heard that was good (not my cup of tea).  I'd recommend Mass Effect 2 but since that's in your avatar, I can assume you've already played that.

I prefer Monday. There's a wind down that naturally comes with Sunday for me so I'd rather extend that wind down into Monday than have to go back to work.  It coincides with tons of extra game time.  If I have Friday off, I usually end up having other things to do that take away from any extra game time a three day weekend would afford.

I can't agree.  I've been gaming since I got the SNES in '91 and this generation is by and large my favorite.  I play more and more often now than I ever did as a kid.  I'm definitely not what you'd consider hardcore, but like @LordMaiden, I play "hardcore" games only a couple of hours each night.  If sometimes I can play for a few extra hours in the evening (benefits of a gaming fiancee/soon-to-be-wife) and on the weekends.

Some of that "cookie-cutter" stuff isn't really that bad either.  A lot of shooters utilize the cover mechanic now.  It started with kill.switch, then Gears of War improved upon it very well, and now even Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, Uncharted and many other games utilize this mechanic.  It may seem uninspired to keep reusing it, but it's good, it works, and most of all it's fun to use.  Especially in RDR; good old fashioned western shootouts.  Not to mention, if you had to come up with a brand new engine every time you made a game, we'd have VERY few games to play!  Code reuse is a great way to speed up development time.  And seriously, back in the SNES/Genesis days, how many platformer-with-animal-mascot-with-attitude games did we play?  I'm just kind of rambling now...

" There's a shitload of threads about this, but anyways... Rockstar didn't send out a review copy to GB, so they didn't get it until release day.  They've also been busy with a lot of games coming out recently."
This.  Plus there are TONS of sites out there with reviews of RDR.  Yeah some of them may not be credible but if you read a bunch of them, you can get a general idea of the game, how it works, and if there are any major bugs or things that would keep you from purchasing.  There's also a fistful of user reviews on GB here that you can take a look at.

I hope there is a TNT!  I enjoy the multiplayer, as glitchy as it is because sometimes, those glitches are what make it so fun.

I remember reading somewhere Rockstar denied many outlets review copies.  If I remember correctly, GB had to wait until release day to get a copy, which would explain the review delay.

I'm glad Brad Nicholson is here! One my favorite journalists due to his appearances on Podtoid.

From the tone of the game overall, I think we'll find less humorous "easter eggs" and more homages instead.  Already the above posters have pointed out some great homages that inspired the making of Red Dead Redemption, which is still pretty cool in my book.
