A: Man, why is the skin around my lip always so dry? It looks like I have a light mustache.

B: Man, why aren't you better at stuff?

C: That is a sweet-ass guitar you're holding there.

D: You would get laid more if you actually bothered to try.

My best guess would be that he had to eliminate the witness. He found what he was looking for, doesn't mean that he wanted Ethan to live.

@c0l0nelp0c0rn1: What is really comes down to is that I don't understand why people like them, and I find playing them infuriating. In fact, I've only ever finished three JRPGs: Valkyria Chronicles, Golden Sun and Pokemon (they are all the same really).The things that I like about those games are all things that are completely non-standard to the genre. The vanilla Square-Enix RPG just feels like grindey, flashy, gameplay-less nonsense with obnoxious character design and horrendous exposition.

I am not, however, trying to start a fight here. I am asking this question completely innocently. Unfortunately people seem to have missed the point, so this has all been kind of a wash.

@FLStyle: As stated in OP, backwards compatibility and re-releases muddy the real question here.

@Laketown:

See, this shows you how much I know about JRPGs. I was under the impression that the genre had passed is prime and that no modern console could compete with the classics of yore.

Also, sweet irony of ironies, I can't see the results of my poll because I don't want to vote in it.

Pretend that the PS2 doesn't play PS1 games for the purpose of this exercise.

I was just discussing this with my brother. Hating JRPGs passionately, I don't feel qualified to make a ruling.

EDIT: To make it clear, this is an academic question about the state of JRPGs over time. Saying one console is best because it has a single game, or because it had a lot of re-releases defeats the purpose of the exercise.

That would pretty dumb of them, given that I have my initials in mine. I would probably politely ask them to change it. If they didn't, I might consider asking a mod to get involved. That's a pretty specific thing to do, it would have to be deliberate griefing.

I woship George Orwell, because he has been dead for some time and is highly unlikely to disappoint me.
