Hopefully the first level doesn't involve doing household chores. I mean, as fun as it is doing virtual dishes, I kinda play games as a break to doing that stuff.

People are probably frustrated with the lack of surprises. Most stuff revealed was revealed pre-E3. Still, there was some really good stuff, just not much really mind-blowing. We're also at that stage of the current lifecycle where they're probably not going to invest big in new peripherals. Chances are next year we'll see the announcements of the next gen and everyone will need new pants and bigger wallets.

@SolidTy: I'd be curious to know how many games are purchased by people who don't go online vs those that do. They may decide people who never connect online aren't worth it. Generally they run at a loss on consoles. Games and online services is where they make the cash. And all this online pass stuff to play games online is pointing towards a DL only model. Thing that sucks the most is that in Australia, our internet is slow as shit so downloading all games will take ages. I even had to upload this reply overnight.

Was giving the iPad 3 some serious thought and ultimately decided against it. There's nothing it does that my laptop, iPhone, Vita, or desktop don't already do. Will need more convincing than just a high res screen (which is now industry standard) to make the plunge.

I encounter quite a few vegans out and about (I live in a fairly hipsterized part of the city) and I wouldn't say they're snobs.

I will say they're often self-righteous, rude, preachy, intrusive, and annoying. I find they'll often comment on other people's diet choices while sitting next to them at a cafe/restaurant (had one refer to my meal containing meat as "what a waste of life"), and tend to be what we call "professional students" or what Portlandia calls "Young retirees". Late-20s thru 30s alternatives. Even my vegetarian friends don't rate them.

I got a UDraw as a pack in game with a replacement PS3 a few weeks back. I use a tablet all day at work, so I was pretty curious. Overall it's not bad, but has two design flaws that shit me no end: first, you cannot rest your hand on the tablet while drawing, as it registers both the pen and your hand; second, the cord is in the worst position and constantly snags on the corners, I understand it's central to keep it ambidextrous, but it would make more sense to put the cord on the bottom, not the top.

I guess the biggest issue is the lack of games. I'm waiting on a couple of ultra cheap copies I found of Pictionary and Marvel, but they seem like kids games at best. It's more an exercise in curiosity for me.

It's a reasonable enough idea, but ultimately useless when things like Move/Kinect exist. And even they struggled to get traction in the early days.

Seems an over-reaction to me. No worse than any other "Where have you been?" email I get for not using some service for a while. I get them from movie rental places, online shops, all sorts of things. Standard practice.

And to spend 3/4s of the article complaining then say you're not keen on more negativity is a bit naff.

Makes sense. All digital games should be cheaper than their retail counterparts. No disc production, no printing of manuals, no hard cases, no case slips, no shipping, no storage, no retail space arrangements. Obviously there are server and digital delivery costs but I'd bet they're a sight cheaper than the road to retail.

Just take a look at the prices of some PS3 games on PSN. It's insane. Most are at least $20-30 more than you'd pay in a store, and more if you buy online. EA and Ubisoft are the worst offenders. AU$100 for Rayman Origins on PSN when I can buy it AU$40 cheaper online.

I've pre-ordered Uncharted. Looks pretty good, and I kinda imagine it'll be the showcase game for launch. Will probably pick up Hot Shots Golf (Everybody's Golf here in Oz). Wait and see on the rest.

No, I just pre-ordered a WiFi model. Can't justify the extra cost for 3G version nor the additional data costs when I'll mostly use it at home where I have wireless anyway.
