Well it depends on how "finished" this is. I'm alright with the new UI, think some of the reorganization ideas are good & modern and always been a Dark Site user.
However seems like there's a lot of missing features, broken features/functionality or menus that have the wrong content. Not just minor things either. Not entirely surprising for a new site rollout, but given how long it took to fix basic functionality after Sea Serpent and how quickly this was pushed out clearly before it was ready, I have to admit I'm concerned about when those in some cases fairly major issues get resolved. Since the CBSi buyout, some things have remained broken for distressingly long amounts of time with little visible attention.
My plea to the engineering team is to just keep communicating this time with the site's userbase on a consistent basis about the new site's roadmap. The Giant Devcast is a great step forward, now the next step is continue to do that. Doesn't have to be super long episodes or all that frequent (maybe quarterly or bimonthly), just something that happens with reliable regularity so people can see visible proof that their concerns are being worked upon. Obviously not everybody is going to get what they want, when they want, But as long as there is an open 2 way channel of dialogue I think this could ultimately be a great step forward to rebuilding trust and excitement for the site's users.
A great first step would be addressing the concerns of the White Site users, even if you just need to just a quick blog or something, just give those folks some sign that you're are working on a way to address to their concerns ASAP. Doesn't affect me at all directly, but that's a very legitimate severe usability for a lot of people. I think needs to be addressed pronto before you lose users. I know if the dark site was removed in favor of the white site, I probably wouldn't stick around here long either
