For me, the only game that I bought with high expectations and didn't enjoy one bit was Reus.

It was sold to me as 2D populous, instead it was more like a GUI for a spreadsheet. People complain about Godus, but at least that keeps the concept of God Games being free form and creative. Reus, everything was hard numbers. The planets little more than a series of states that had to be tiled out, checked against each other and arranged in the most efficient way possible. Greatly disappointing. More like a puzzle with deities.

I'm just glad I didn't buy any true clangers this year.

And, for what it's worth, I quite enjoyed SimCity. It's not the ultimate city sim, but I rather enjoy the natural flow of how it works. If anything, it felt more like a God Game set in modern day, which is right up my alley, though I can see how it'd piss off the detail orientated crowd who loved 4 so much.

If they make another, I'd love to see them refine and expand on the concepts in this one... but with less Always Online/Facebook-esque nonsense.

You'll be sorted with either model of the Mega CD so long as you have the same region. Also, make sure it's got the proper power supply with it. Both Mega Drive and the CD system need to be plugged in!

If you can avoid the crap interactive movie games, there's a handful of cool games. Sonic CD, Final Fight CD, The Terminator and heaps of souped up Amiga ports to name a few.

Pssst! Keep it to yourself, but it's also real easy to burn your own CDs, should some of the rare games cost too much.

Too many awesome games to play! Oh, what a problem to have.

Well, a good idea is to alternate long games with short ones to prevent any burnout, while playing something less story based on the side.

That said, pretty much all those games are kinda epic in length.

Yeah... put me on the Bad Person list with the rest of the monsters. The game fell flat for me.

Lovely art, mind you. Very folksy and Scandinavian.

Anyone heard of a tennis RPG? I swear that I've seen one. Looked like it could have been 8-bit, like a NES or TurboGrafx game. Starts off with your character talking with a king, or something, then your sent out to a Dragon Quest style world map, only I remember the battles are done with rounds of tennis?

At least I think that was the sport. Could have been something else...

Could have been a fever dream.
