I absolutely adored the last xcom + expansion but i never dug the artstyle - i would like something less comic-booky and more scfi-fy although i dont expect that to happen.
And yeah fully procedural levels would be great and all but it does put some restrictions in. I would like them to completely skip missions that are always 100% the same though as they feel very grindy upon replay.
@finaldasa: Indeed, hence the (for now). Games "brick and mortar" are going to way of block buster, its only a matter of time. But for now we have to tolerate the inflated prices on digital. However, there's no guarantee that prices will drop in general if people are willing to pay..
In a digital only future I think they will still charge 60 bucks initially but they will drop faster if the games underperform.
Publishers would also probably prefer physical copies since digital copies aren't tracked by NPD.
They tolerate it because physical copies are still a relatively large portion of the total sales (for now) but they do not prefer it since retail takes a huge cut (about 1/3)
+ theres all the hassle of dealing with real world products, shipping, production, inventory risk etc.. with digital they can skip all that and keep all the money.
Its an impressive game with a lot to do and explore, but sadly most of it feels quite meaningless, like filling out bars for the heck of it, and not because it really matters for your overall progression. The combat is a mess and the "tactical mode" feels tacked on and very poorly integrated. the DA franchise was always caught between its (better) legacy of old-school Baldurs Gate games and the new school hack'n slash console RPG style and never really landed as fully enjoyable games IMO.
I still haven't completed it and there's a part of me that would want to see the story to its conclusion, i just don't wanna do all the repetitive stuff to get there.
Since Baldurs Gate 2 is probably my favorite single player game of all time it has to be that :P
Im in general not a fan of the "post-EA -acquisition-Bioware" but Dragon Age 3 was one of the their best games in a long time despite all the meaningless side quests and lackluster combat.
I like what the mass effect games were trying to do but they just never came together in a satisfying way for me.
