@oddballs: It almost certainly will, at least it will piss me off less because I wouldn't be paying more for a console with significantly less features in my region. It will still be shite though...
Just how many of those games were exclusive? My PC is pretty good and I would much rather play all those games on that or even a PS4. The question remains whether it will be cheaper than the PS4 or not because all sources seem to suggest that it has the advantage hardware-wise (just how much of an advantage is debatable) And if people can get those games on a console that is cheaper, running them better and doesn't need a paid subscription for multiplayer...... I can't see many people choosing the Xbone.
I've always wondered why Final Fantasy games only have a single battle system per game, especially in the age of DLC. After all it's mainly just tweaks to mathematics going on under the hood, and you don't even need to add any new animations, casting firaga could look the same whatever battle system you are using. And it could add so much more for replayability, hell if Square-Enix offered a Final Fantasy V battle system DLC pack for XIII I might have actually finished the damn thing.
It depends on whether the ps4 will be adopted as the lead platform, if it is then there could be a huge gap. If the Durango ends up being the lead platform then I could see the PS4 versions of games looking similar with maybe a few more particle effects or it running at a higher res or with a slightly smoother framerate. The big difference this time around is that Sony seem to be bending over backwards to please developers, if anything the rumoured Durango specs point to it being harder to program for than the PS4 with it's ESRAM and custom chips all built around trying to make up for Microsoft's decision to go with slow DDR3 RAM.
I'm thinking of Steam big picture mode, the amount of times I've booted into something like a ubisoft game and had to go find my mouse because uplay is a mouse driven interface... it's annoying. And with a decent D-pad it would beat a 360 controller for me especially if they've tightened up the analog sticks.
Yeah I doubt they will need to if they keep that instant game collection initiative going, I think the thing stopping a lot of people buying a Playstation Plus subscription right now is that they already have a game collection so it seems less worth it, when people are picking up a ps4 and have no games getting PS+ with a bunch of free games would look really tempting.
I'm pretty anti-monarchy but I can only see that getting worse if Prince Charles ever was to take the throne, at least the Queen is pretty inoffensive, though however I feel about the monarchy I dislike describing myself as a Republican since a certain American political party ruined that word for me.
