GTA4 is a quick and dirty port.  It runs like a sack of **** on my PC (QX8650, 4GB RAM, 2GB ATi 4870X2) and has dumped me to the desktop many times.  Rockstar Social Club??? what the hell do I want that for?  add to that the need for a Windows LIVE account just to be able to save you game.

I don't want a Windows LIVE account and I don't want to be part of the Rockstar Social Club either.  I can understand why they used LIVE for the multiplayer and achievements but not why they are forcing people to have a LIVE account just to be able to save the game.

Never get driver updates from Windows Update, as they have been known to cause issues.  I always go to the manufacturer.

"It's a great card, I have one myself.  Stalker Clear Sky ran as low as 21 FPS on my 768MB Geforce 8800GTX, I put that card in with the same settings and I got between 90 and 140 FPS.

It comes with lots of adapters and software.  The SmartDoctor application is quite good, it allows you to see your temps, adjust the fan speeds and overclock the card.  The card requires two additional 6 pin power connectors and the fan on the card is noisy when it gets to it's full RPM."
Wow really that much of a jump? what type of CPU are you using?"

"Free security software is a good stop gap but ideally if you use the your PC often for financial matters and online shopping, I would say buy a proper package."
I see statements like this time and time again and dismiss them again.

There is nothing wrong with free security software, most do the job just as well as other pay for software does, if not better!
I use Avast as part of a multi-layered approach which includes free anti-malware (Spybot, Ad-aware, A-Squared, Spyware Blaster, Windows Defender and MVPS host files), free firewall (Comodo) and I do online shopping/online bakning etc without any problems.

Turrican was one of the must have games for the time.  I've loved and hated it on various different platforms.
