What started off with so much promise simply doesn't keep the amazement through every stop on the long trip. Thankfully the destination was worth it. Positives + It looks and sounds great + The escort levels are well managed + The beginning and the end deliver an exciting experience + Good mix of switch puzzles Set-backs - The middle of the game felt slow, drawn out, an lacking in fresh game-play experiences - The 'horror' of this survival horror title dulls after a few hours - My first time...

Resident Evil 4 re-animates the corpse of a dead franchise 0

Capcom begins 2005 with a bang, with the release of the highly anticipated Resident Evil 4, directed by series creator Shinji Mikami to be nothing less than the greatest survival horror game of all time. Designed from the ground up to bring back players who had given up on the series while at the same time inviting a whole new generation of gamers to give the series a try, Resident Evil 4 revitalizes and revolutionizes the genre from decapitated head to chewy toe. Leon S Kennedy is back in H...

Four years on, RE4 is still a tour de force. 0

I'm an extreme latecomer to Resident Evil 4, having never owned a GameCube and never getting around to the PS2 version until recently. All I can say is, I wish I played this game sooner. It's unreal both how good this game is in terms of level design, action sequences and combat, but how heavily mimicked this game is. More recent blockbusters like Dead Space, Gears of War and Metal Gear Solid 4 pick up so much of what was done perfectly here in this game, which is perhaps the highest compliment ...

A masterpiece and a revolution for the series 0

If you've played Resident Evil 4 then you know that it's one of the quintessential masterpieces of our generation, just as our parents had Pong and Pac-man, we have received Resident Evil 4. This game looks, plays and feels great all around, hardly anything else can top this experience. The graphics in the PS2 version look absolutely wonderful. Leon, the protagonist from Resident Evil 2 looks great with an updated look and great animations. Leon moves so realistically, his kicks look great, he mo...

A lazy effort for an outstanding game. 1

Resident Evil 4 is an outstanding game. Introducing for the first time or making popular gameplay mechanics that are now a staple of the genre. At the time it was also, and maybe still is, the most successful, both critically and commercially, entry in the franchise. It is then no surprise that Capcom would join the club of publishers re-releasing their past masterpieces in glorious HD. But did this amazing game received the treatment it deserved? Before going any further it needs to be said tha...

A truly fun and exciting experience. 0

First, let me tell you that I'm NOT a Resident Evil fan. I bought the original RE game way back when it first came out due to the word of mouth. The game frightened me a lot when I played it as a kid but I felt disappointed by the lanky controls and horrible item/save features. I never played any of the later RE games because I didn't have a good experience with the original. Now here comes Resident Evil 4, the game that turned me back into a fan. I was utterly impressed by the quality and sc...

Resident Evil 4 is an amazing Action / Adventure game. 0

There isn't much I can say that hasn't been said already, so I'll make this short. Resident Evil 4 is one of the best Gamecube games to be released, and one of the best games to ever be made. This is the pinnacle of the Resident Evil series and I would love to see Capcom top this. There's a ton of differences between the classic Resident Evil games and 4, as the controls and camera angles have been completely revamped. There's no more pre-rendered backgrounds or tank control movements. The 3rd...

THIS REVIEW ONLY MENTIONS THE KEY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE Wii VERSION AND PREVIOUS ONES.THE GOOD:Elegant and intuitive Wii controls makes it exciting again to play this Modern-Classic; The controls were not streamlined (like making it possible to shoot while walking), maintaining the game hard and adventurous; Same fantastic graphics of the the Gamecube version, with an excellent artistic design that makes it age at a slower pace than most games - one of the best looking games on the system; ...

I'd be lying if I said RE4 wasn't one of the best games I've played in a very long time.I was a bit worried after playing Dead Rising to death to go back and play Resident Evil, but RE4 definitely filled my thirst for blood and gore.I've been a fan of the series since the very first Resident Evil title, back in the days of the corny b-movie style voice-overs and I'm happy to say Resident Evil is still keeping things fresh but at the same time following a tried and tested formula.Long past are th...

Resident Evil 4 is a horror FPS game which does things a little differently compared to the other Resident Evil games. Sometimes in a good way and sometimes in an extremely horrible way. You play as Leon Kennedy, a survivor of the Raccoon City incident that occured during the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3. He now works for that government and is sent on a mission of find and rescue the President's daughter who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult. There's a sighting of the President's daugh...

Resident Evil 4 has appeared on the Gamecube,PS2 and PC. The question is does it play any better and is it worth getting for the Wii.If you have played the other versions of this game you should know the story. You are Leon Scott Kennedy sent on a rescue mission to rescue the presidents daughter. Once you are past the first chapter you rescue her but you then have to protect her and that is no easy job. This game like previous installents in the series has an over the shoulder biew which makes it...

If you’ve never heard of Resident Evil 4 before then you’ve been living under a rock. There’s simply no need to bother you with the obligatory introduction, as this is a game that needs no introduction: it simply rocks. Whether or not you’ve played Resident Evil 4 before doesn’t matter. The bottom line is this. If you loved the game on either the GameCube or PlayStation 2, then you’ll love it even more on Wii. And if you’ve never played it before, then you’ll finally understand why the rest of t...

well to start this out resident evil 4 is the best in the series so far (i think the 5th is going to beat it out.) but anyway i love the wii edition. its much easier than the gamecube and ps2 versions. i think the aiming circle was needed for those people that arent good aimers with the laser dot. also re4 has great graphics compared to the previous games, and i like how they put leon and ada back in the series. i didnt want them to be forgetten after re2 but the game box says it all ( creatures...

If you’re reading this right now, you’ve either played some iteration of Resident Evil 4, and maybe beaten between 1 and 100 times, or you’ve never played the game. Either way, this version of the game is a must buy for everyone. Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is a remake of the GameCube and PS2 versions. It takes the best of both versions and adds a new control scheme into the mix. You could say that this is the Collector’s Edition, if you’d like. The main highlight of this game is the new cont...

With its release on the GameCube in 2005, Resident Evil was an instant hit. Within just over two weeks, the game sold over 300,000 copies and was subject to highly positive reactions from fans and critics alike. To date, the game has sold roughly 4 million units on the four platforms its been released. Not long ago, Capcom and Nintendo ported the game to the Wii, resulting in what is arguably the best version. For those new to Resident Evil 4, the story follows Leon Kennedy of Resident Evil 2 o...

I never got a chance to play Resident Evil 4 on my Game Cube before I sold it, so when I was walking through a Half-Priced Books Store I was presently surprised to see Resident Evil 4 had made it to the PC. After hearing all the praise this game had got, and my current craving to crap bricks, I bought the game. RE4 Builds Constantly, Peaking at 'Awesome' 0

RE4 is one of my favorite games ever for multiple reasons. 1: It boldly marches into a new style of gameplay. The 3rd person view and the overall setup is completely new. The number of puzzles in the game have been reduced to a minimum. Resident Evil 4 is not your big puzzle based game. Instead it is all about shooting people. Some people played the older RE games just to shoot zombies, and that is what RE4 caters toward. 2: Graphics make this game awesome. RE4 is definitely among the top few ga...

As this game being one of my favorite games of all time, i felt like i had to review it. Story: You play as Leon S. But there's more to it than that; the villagers have gone crazy and you have to find out why, and a past friend appears too. Resident Evil 4 Review 0

The Resident Evil series started in 1996 with Resident Evil on the PlayStation. It wasn't the first survival horror game, but its success gave the genre a huge boost in popularity. It was a truly revolutionary game for the genre. However, video game formulas, no matter how great, will become stale eventually. Some of the Resident Evil games to follow weren't necessarily bad, just forgettable. Capcom took care of this issue and took the series in a new direction. The result was Resident Evil 4. ...

Resident Evil 4 finally comes to the Xbox 360, after starting life on that peculiar little console the Gamecube. I've often heard it called one of the greatest games of all time, by various members of the gaming press and others. This is extremely high praise. Well, never got to play it, seeing as how I never owned a gamecube, though my college roommate did. Watched him play it a couple times before returning it. Guess he didn't enjoy the game much. Now that I've played the game, I completely un...

Resident Evil 4 is one of the few games I've played that actually lived up to the hype. Strangely, I hadn't actually played any Resident Evil game before that (mostly because my parents were opposed to me playing M-rated games, and RE4 came out shortly before my 17th birthday). The graphics looked amazing, I loved the art style, the enemy and boss designs, and the Gamecube was sorely lacking in shooters (Timesplitters 2 is the only one I can remember off the top of my head that was any good). Amazing graphics, addicting gameplay The ones who played this game and then say it's so-so are @$$holes. So if you have a PS2 or a gamecube what are you doing? Resident Evil 4 has been a long time coming. First said to be released on the Playstation 2 back in 2000, then later being made 4 different times. The first attempt at Resident evil 4 was Devil may cry. Devil may cry was originally planned to be Resident Evil 4, but according to the creator the game strayed to far from the past Resident Evil games, so it was turned into a new project. The other notable version seen by public eyes would have to be what Capcom dubbed as “Resident evil 3.5”. This w...

As published in the University of Virginia's Cavalier Daily Resident Evil 4 delivers gruesome survival-horror action in Capcom's best title in the series to date. RE4 combines all the elements of the genre's heart-racing atmosphere and story with blood-pumping new, over-the-shoulder shooting action. Oh what a surprise. Never thought I'd like this game as much as I do. I'm a huge Resident Evil fan and i've finished every RE out there and this one is the icing on the cake. There isn't a lot you can say on a near perfect game. This is the evolution of the RE system and it is superb. I can't stress how amazing this game is. Not only is it the best horror game ever made, but may be the best third person shooter ever made. First of all, the gameplay. It is atmospheric, and scary. You need to get from point A to point B, while blasting through a large variety of monsters and enemies. The enemies are extremely fun to fight because where you shoot affects how the enemy acts. Shoot them in the knee, they fall down. Shoot them in the hand, and they drop their weapon.
