Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Jul 10, 2008
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 is a role-playing game developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. It is chronologically the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series. Like its predecessor, its gameplay combines a traditional role-playing game with elements of a social simulation. Its critical and commercial success spawned a sizable media empire, including several spinoff titles.
What Console should P5 be on?
Xbox 360 & Playstation 3 because it needs to be on next-gen and 360 so they can widen their crowd. Playstation 360 FTW!!!
" All consoles. Gamestop will give out exclusive Persona DLC for pre-orders, and each console will have console unique Personas. On second thought, since this is Atlas, I feel safe that won't happen... but if it did "Personae not Personas
" Isn't this question just bait for the system wars troll type? "Most people on this site are smart enough not to start dumb ass flame wars, I'm just wondering want system do people want it on the most. As you know I'm a Playstation 360 man my self.
PlayStation 2!
Nah, I think it should be on all 3, but I'd like the game to look really nice so that might make Wii hard and the game could have trouble selling on the 360.
For the record I own a PS2, Wii and 360. It would be hilarious if the Giant Bomb joke of it coming out on PS2 came true.
I have all of the consoles, but my choice is Xbox 360 and PS3...
the Wii would just limit the other versions...
and, well, I would say ps3 just to be a purist... but... I really want to play some persona and get some achievements, yaknow?
I don't give a shit about Trophies!
360 and PS3. Why? Because it needs to be current gen, and it truly should take advantage of this hardware to make the BEST persona game ever. And it should be on 360 because, well, I have a 360 and I want to finally play persona.
Everyone who wants it on 360 is thinking that same thing. Yes its selfish, but persona is that good.
I'd go with all three. A new Persona could work on any system, since its strongest elements have very little to do with the hardware you're running it on. Even a big-budget Wii version would be slicker than anything we've seen so far. I say get it in as many people's hands as you can. Make it household name.
Meat dimension.
They should make it only for ps3 and 360 with development lead on ps3 so they can get the 'difficult' version out of the way first.
Being next gen only would also mean they could focus on the one version of the game and simply optimize the code for both machines like any good 3rd party dev would.
Being a niche genre developer effects how much money they can spend so p5 will probably be alot shorter than p4 was assuming it is being made for next gen machines.
I have a sickening feeling though that its going to be just another ps2 game, which would really suck.
PS3 and 360. If they're clever they'll realise what Square-Enix did, in that they will have a pretty good RPG audience on the 360 platform just as much as they would on the PS3.
I don't want to miss out on P5... but at the same time, I don't wanna have to buy a PS3 just to play it.
I know it's all in my head, but I feel like games are more special when they're only released on a single console, at least initially.
Given that it is so Japanese and that it is a niche title, I would expect it on the PS3 or the Wii. I would prefer it on the PS3, because I don't own or intend to own a Wii.
support games, not fanboys and console wars
Sadly, since Atlus is not that big of a developer the easier route would be to go Xbox360 only. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I completely disagree. The 360 has an abundance of JRPGs on it. There's definately a niche audience for these type of games on the platform." NO DO NOT BRING IT TO THE XBOX 360. Whats up with all the exclusives going to 360? I really dont think it will sell on 360. Its just not the 360's type of game. "
I mean the 360 has Infinate Undsicovery, The Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia and obviously has Final Fantasy XIII heading its way too.
In fact I think that there possibly may be MORE western released JRPGs on the 360 than there is on the PS3.
As much as I'd love it to be on all consoles, the PS3 and 360 (& PC) are the only ones that have the raw power to produce the type of game I'm hoping for. Having said that, I really expect something with wider appeal. So a Wii/PSP release would not surprise me at all. Those two platforms have the ease of development and high adoption rate that Atlus traditionally follows.
Do I want such a release? No. Would I accept it? Yes.
