Reviews: Dragon Age: Origins Video Review

Thanks for the review Dave, seems like a very good game.

The most important thing about this review is that it means the Mass Effect 2 hype cycle has officially began!

I wonder how much Dave actually played the console versions...but whatever, great review!    

Dave looks creepy without a beard. Also, his arms are at right angles for the entire video.

HOWEVER! It's OK if you put your hands down while talking. I'm sure it was more out of nervousness to be on video instead of just hearing your voice, but come on. We'll still love you even after you see your video review!

As a note, the fact that loading is pretty much instant on 
a powerful PC is really a bigger salespoint to me than better graphics. 
Just can't put a price on time, man.

During the review (which was a great review, by the way.) I couldn't help but giggle at Dave constantly moving his hands, kinda like in Talladega Nights when Ricky Bobby didn't know what to do with his hands.

Great review, Dave. I've gone from "Dragon... What?" back at E3, to "I need my Dragon Age now!" I was originally going to get this on 360, but after watching the Quick Looks from you and Vinny, I've been converted to play it on PC. As someone who grew up on JRPGs such as Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, the WRPG genre is still relatively fresh for me. I'm looking forward to getting into a more traditional experiance as soon as this unlocks on Steam.

Count me in as another Dave fan. When the long rumored Giant Bomb epic fantasy RPG finally comes out, I'm playing the designer class.

I enjoyed Dave's slower method of delivery; it shows he was really trying not to stumble over his words and to make sure he stated his opinions and ideas clearly.
 
Not that other reviews are hard to follow, its just a nice change of pace when somebody rather matter-of-factly gives you the 411 on a game without much hyperbole or lame jokes.

been handing out a lot of 5ers lately.  Must be nice getting to play all these good games.

I'll be getting the PS3 version as I'm not sure my iMac can run the game properly.

 Dave ... you're a web developer by trade, this is you first video review, and yet you're already on a par with some of the best at giving video reviews out there.  I'm impressed.
 
As to Dragon Age, it looks really good and I really enjoyed Mass Effect so reckon I'll really like this and therefore get it.  Particularly excited for the story.  However I think I'll wait a while since L4D2 is my first priority and then I've got other games to work through in the meantime.

This screen shot just really shows the texture difference between the PC and 360. It is pretty significant IMO. Check out the wood on the bed frame and the walls.

Dave really is awesome.

So you can see someone getting hacked up blood flying everywhere but the virtual babes wear a bra in the sex scenes...OUTRAGEOUS!

@Snide Totally sold me on Dragon Age, Dave. If an RPG heretic like you says Dragon Age is worth my time, it must REALLY be something special.
