Quick Look: Metro 2033

Brad is reviewing Final Fantasy XIII. Ryan reviewed God of War III. So this Quick Look has no impact on those reviews. You may recall a thing called the Game Developers Conference that happened last week. You may also be aware that Final Fantasy XIII is not a short game.
 
I think the game looks pretty cool. Weird running animation though.

This game on pc looks soooo good.. DirectX 11 doesnt make a huge difference from 9 or 10 but still adds a bit...awesome so far..

Got this today, installing now, also.. Sweet! A QL of Metro 2033

Game looks pretty good, if not quirky.

I beat this two days ago and I'm on my second playthrough. It was one hell of an awesome experience!

You can clearly see this is a PC game ported to console.

Loving what I've played of this so far.

Regardless of the criticisms, I find this interesting and different. I think I'm taking the plunge on it.  Also, wish they'd remake the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games for 360 so I could give them a try, but I figure that'll never happen.

This game has an Fallout 3 look about it.

And Destructoid just posted one of its "we aren't reviewing this game" reviews. I guess a lot of the troubles with this game are in following the story of the book too closely. Makes me think that it should either stay a book or be made a movie. I kind of want to play this game, but there are too many other games that would come first in terms of vying for my money right now.

Thats the second game in about a month Dave has gotten me interested in. And they are  both Russian

all these games these guys say are russian are from the ukraine.

A mate picked this up for the 360 and i was chatting with him in a party yesterday, you should have heard the swearing from him when he was getting killed, he says the game is quite hard.

Aren't those exact same glowing mushrooms in Fallout 3?

Wow this looks way worse than the PC version, even on my 'meh' PC.

You can shoot/ use the money ammo, its more accurate and does more damage. And I fail you for getting that far into the game and not know thing, Hold down reload...

Holy crap! Did Dave never think to light the lighter while he had the journal out? YOU CAN TOTALLY LIGHT UP THE JOURNAL WITH THE LIGHTER IF YOU'RE IN DARK PLACES, YOU MORON!!! Also, you can use the pristine bullets in some guns. They do more damage at the cost of you basically shooting your money away. They explain both of these facets in large text boxes that appear on the screen.

This actually looks pretty awesome...

The PC version of this game is 'considerably' better. 

This game is avaiable on XBLA through the THQ sale this week for 9.99 so I finally picked it up.

i just sarted playing it in russian with englis subtitiles

It's surprising that Dave is playing this on an Xbox 360 than a PC especially since the PC version is considerably better.

I bought this for $10 today. Haven't played it yet.

Just got this game for free... watching quicklook over to see if I should even install it.

The game is fantastic so you absolutely should. Play it on the harder difficulties if you want to experience the game correctly.

About the words on the cover of the Metro 2033 book when you're hiding on the train thingy.. My Mum studied Russian Literature pretty heavily back in the day. The bottom word is the Russian equivalent of the name Peter, the word on the right on the row above is Vrochek (pronounced vroor-check aparrently.) She couldn't read the word on the left due to the angle and poor texture quality.

Watching this in 2018! Boy, how bout that 360p video eh?

Just picked up the Metro Redux bundle for $6 and, oddly enough, I happen to be at this exact spot in my own game.
