And yeah for a game thats all about the cockpit view...woulda kind of liked to see the crashes in that view as they were intended...i also think the cockpit is the only way to go sometimes, because some racing games look so bizzare behind the car...Test Drive Unlimited springs to mind.
 
playing first person in that was amazing...any other view and it was horrendous

 I feel that people are misinterpreting this game, its not trying to be Forza at all, its more like a next gen GTR with high production values with assisted modes to help ease casual racing sim players into the hardcore. This game is all about the racing where Forza and GT5 is all about the cars. This is more like Grid but with deep physics and mechanics, Grid is full on arcade where this is full on sim.    

This looks like my kind of sim racer, but I'd wind up playin' the game with all the assists on like Ryan and I think that kind of defeats the purpose of it being a sim racer.  Might as well go play any of the arcade racers at that point. Still I was once into GT3, so I might take a look at this game when I have some free time.

I prefer Forza's minimalist style over NFS' maximalist style. This seems much better that the three most recent NFS games, though.

this game looks really good, but bad timing, that's all I can say. FM3 is my game of choice for the fall, so I won't be playing another racer.

maybe it was just Ryan's awful driving but NFS:Shift actually doesn't look that great-a-game anymore :(

 

I wish you could drive your car in 3rd person in real life.

I havent played a good NFS game since Porche Unleashed. NFS 3 and 4 were also pretty good.

This actually looks surprisingly good.

This game looks awful, NFS has always been about speed and the police chasing you but now its turned into a forza type of game? Come on EA this isn't NFS fix your game instead of copying others

The first Forza game was actually the thing to do the dynamic brake line stuff.  That aside, this doesn't seem like something I'd want to get.  I think I'm past buying classic racing games without something interesting and original going for it.  Like Ryan, I love racing with the camera behind the car so the super detailed cockpit view isn't really doing it for me.

Give Drew, the racing guy, the controller!! :P
 
Too bad we didn't see more of the wrecks, or more of the cockpit mode.

ryan seems arrogant some times. By the way most of the allure in this game is the cockpit view and some of us actually do care ryan.

I like how Ryan calls Forza fans Forzas and Gran Turismo fans Gran Turismos. :p

It looks alright, I'm spending my money on Forza though.

i know right? Need For Speed folks are super pimpin the cockpit view PR style so i was kinda hoping this quicklook would show that stuff. i dunno how people that drive real cars dont like a cockpit view. so weird. "

This game looks significantly worse outside of cockpit view. You disappoint me, Ryan.

I can't even watch a QL of a racing game with a behind-the-car view.  Serious racing games shouldn't offer that camera position!

Maybe if you attack a camera on an 8 foot pole to the back of your car which then the video feed goes to a screen on the front where you can view it....but that'd be silly.... "

You know, as someone who's been a NFS fan since the 90's, and who hasn't truly liked an NFS title since Most Wanted, this game really interests me. Need For Speed has always been a series that changed its formula now and then, if it can succeed in the world of sims for a while, then I think that's awesome.

GT4 had speed lines but only on certain license tests.

I really don't like Ryan's quick looks. He never has enough information about the game to even answer the simplest questions. The other Giant Bombers at least try to research some info before doing a quick look. 

its  a shame he doesnt give the cockpit view a chance because this is one game where it really works well.  
and seriously Ryan, this quick look sucks because of it.  
the game is awesome in cockpit view. cant see why you dont like it, this game does it GREAT

There are some alarming drops in frame rate in this video, especially when you take a corner.  Is the capture equipment contributing to this, or is it like it all the time?
