Just cut off part of the DS if the screens need more resolution. It's just for show anyway. Or make the player larger. I'm sure you guys can think of something.

Thanks for showing some love for the Phantasy Star fans Jeff, I've been wanting to see this game in action...Looks pretty fun, might pick it up and play with some friends.

Jeff should have named his guy Mustachio... so close.

Glad you guys did a Quick Look on this game. I'd been wanting to see some footage of this relatively unheard of DS title.

I admire the tenacity to keep the PSO name going, but I gave up paying attention after Blue Burst.

Ugh, I remember when seeing something new about Phantasy Star made me beyond giddy, now I can almost imagine me wanting to violently stab myself while playing it.

My name is Zenin and as a nickname (especially around the Dragon Ball days) I would often be called Zeni.
 
So every time I heard them say Zenny my ears perked up and attentively snapped towards the video. I felt like I was being trained.

Hopefully a Wii version is in the works.

The problems with text readability are because they don't upscale the video. Readability of fonts on the DS require pixel perfect reproduction most of the time, because a lot of lines are one pixel wide. This means artifacting from video compression will destroy readability. They mentioned that they wouldn't upscale the video in the podcast. I'm not sure if they said why, but upscaling would definitely exaggerate  the blurriness of everything but the text.

slight complaint, the volume on the videos is getting really quiet these days, having to turn up the monitor volume is no "big" deal, its just annoying when i've got other things on the go needing different levels of volume.

Glad to see this is getting some attention. It's a good game unlike the previous Phantasy Star Universe and is the closest they have managed to come in getting that old Phantasy Star Online feel back. You really need to play it multiplayer though, especially for the boss fights.

How does cutting off stuff help? They are not going to stretch the screens. Not one pixel. "

Can't read the text on high either. I'm sure there's a good reason why they're not doing this already, but I'd like to see the screens stretched to fill all the way to the top and bottom. You'd probably still not get the true DS resolution out of it and the compression combined with resolution of the player sometimes causes text reading problems anyway, but I'd like to at least hear what the guys had to say about trying it.
 
Resolution of the player in general was a problem during the Matrix Online stuff and generally most other PC games with small fonts. Maybe there will be an HD player one day? Wishful thinking? I'm sure bandwidth costs would shoot up, but as the site gains in popularity, the revenue can surely match it.

DS quick look! Sweet

Phantasy Star, what made you so shitty?  You were once the premiere RPG on consoles, and then you just faded away, only to return as a generic Diablo clone with half-ass mmo systems.
 
Maybe one day there will be a Phantasy Star 5.

Some games do 3D well on the DS, this however, is not one of them.

I really liked the Portable games on the DS and had hopes for this one, as many of the aspects seem to fall a lot more inline with PSO.  But it seems the limitations of the DS are really a problem here..  the quests appear to be nothing more than moving from room to room killing enemies and getting chests at the end.
 
And while that's essentially what all Diablo style loot grinders are like, the structure here makes it very apparant and reptitive.
