Just finished watching the YT version. I agree with the guys, this looks a lot nicer than I thought. Having only played up to encountering the Prometheans for the first time in Halo 4 I'm interested in playing 5.

There is literally nothing here but gameplay and the opening cutscene of mission 2 nothing to fear, but it looks fantastic.

That last video looked like it could've been from a Tron game.

Probably why Jeff likes the look of this game - and seemed surprised by it.

Brad mentioned this reminds him a bit of Republic Commando. The creative director of that game is the creative director of Halo 5.

There are a handful of Spartan IIs still alive. The one's on Blue team are some of them and they're Chief's closest friends. Fireteam Osiris, the other group, are Spartan IVs

Wait...Why are the squad mates all of the Chief's friends from Fall of Reach? Firstly, wasn't that book kinda retconned because of Reach? And secondly, didn't most of those characters die? It's been a long time since I have read that book but I remember getting the impression that they were pretty dead.

Man I'm kind of on board with this, too bad I don't have an Xbone.

And to the confusion as to the origin on MC's team, I believe they are the other Spartans that survived in the books, at least Kelly definitely is. They are from John-117's original team in the Fall of Reach novel. IIRC he finds a few of them in the book (I forget the name) that takes place between CE and 2, and explains how he made it back to Earth after escaping the destruction of the Halo.

Ah, its nice to see the master chef Gordon Ramsey back in his element. I hope the SP is good as that is what I will be looking forward to when I eventually get an X1. But thats a long time away... PS4 first.

For half a second when I saw the thumbnail, I thought this said, Unfinished: Halo: MCC, and that would have been pretty funny.

Hearing them talk down on Halo 4 is kind of grating. They were all about it when it came out, and it was praised as one of the single most impressive-looking games of last generation. Hell, Digital Foundry was head-over-heels in love with that thing. Halo 5 looking this good isn't some surprise, because Halo 4 pulled the same kind of technical wizardry to eek every single last droplet of performance out of that machine.

@crazyhorse23: There's been some retconning to get the game and the book to fit together, but Fred, Kelly and Linda are still very much canon--and very much alive, for that matter. In any case, a lot's happened in the Halo EU since Fall of Reach, and those three have been involved in quite a lot of it.

Personally I don't want games to look any more real than this, looks great though. Hopefully now the focus is on performance, character movement and assets on screen.

This game however is looking great, decent framerate and very nice visuals. My concern is the story telling. Halo 4's was kind of meh and required a lot of extended lore knowledge to really get what's going on. I hope this isn't the case for this title despite some of the AR stuff they got going for this game.

@neocalypso: Looks like it! Much more excited about this game now. I remember really enjoying the books as a teenager.

This looks so much better than Destiny

I'm super stoked for this game; it's looking great so far. I told myself once I pick this game up I will not buy anymore more games this fall until I beat my backlog.

@crazyhorse23: I'm pretty sure it wasn't retconned. Just different things happened on that planet. When Chief goes back to Reach after the original Halo he finds that the Spartans there survived.

@crazyhorse23: Yeah, a good bit of it doesn't make sense because of Halo: Reach. Seems that 343 is more of a fan of the book version of Master Chief and are directing things to get him closer to that characterization.

As for the teammates, Kelly, Linda, and Fred all survived the events of the books. So they haven't been resurrected for this game.

I know hes like really dedicated to the Dirt series but Drew should review this when it comes out.

I hope your squad is more than vestigial co-op buddies who run around and pretend to shoot at enemies. Republic commando was great because the squad was integral to success, in many cases your orders were more important than shooting.

I kinda hate myself for noticing this but wouldn't you want the glass windows on your spaceships to be really thick? Like so thick small arms fire can't shatter it? Like so think a random asteroid doesn't smash through and kill everyone in the room?

I hope the (unconfirmed) PC port will be at least on par with this. <3
