Let's cut to the chase: Blizzard announced a collector's edition today for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. It's $100. I'm so enamored with the beta already that I may not be able to resist spending such an obscene sum on this gigantic package. Until it ships, though, I'm going to keep telling myself that I am absolutely, positively, in no way going to buy this.
 

• The Art of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, a 176-page book featuring artwork from the game
• An exclusive 2GB USB flash drive replica of Jim Raynor's dog tag, which comes preloaded with the original StarCraft and the StarCraft: Brood War® expansion set
• A behind-the-scenes DVD containing over an hour of developer interviews, cinematics with director’s commentary, and more
• The official StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty soundtrack CD, containing 14 epic tracks from the game along with exclusive bonus tracks

Looks pretty cool,the WoW pet is downright useless to me,meh maybe I can sell it.

Maybe if it had all 3 SP campaigns I would. But if they're gonna make one of these for each planned campaign... $300 for the complete? No thank you.

I pre-ordered a 'special edition' on my usual gamestore website. I pray it is the Collector's Edition!

Then you'll pay another $100 each for the next two collectors edition. Or you could just pay $60 for this edition of Starcraft 2 and another $60 for each of the expansions. You gotta way it out Brad. Is it worth the $300 for all the CEs or just $180 for all of the basic editions?

Blizzard needs to sell me on the game before trying to sell me on the Collector's Edition of it!

Just do what I'll do.  Buy the regular edition and tape a picture of that box on the front.

That looks like a pretty good collectors package, compared to some "collector" packages of late. Not a SC fan tho so pass. But I am expecting it to be on GB unpacking regardless of a certain someone absolutely denying to get it.

It depends on if they are doing CE's for the other 2 games, I'd much rather get the Protoss custom texture, and I bet you would too Brad =P

How's that short list of stuff worth 50 bucks extra? Unless you're a diehard Starcraft gamer, it's pretty useless. Too expensive. Plus the inevitable 2 other 100 dollar editions.

I'm so buying that just for the Flash drive (And Starcraft II).
 
I feel completely justified recently buying a new gaming PC.  So many good games have come out/ are coming out since I last played PC exclusively.

I liked my War3 collectors edition for about 30 minutes, but then forgot about it.  I think I learned my lesson this time and will have to pass.

It might be worth pickin it up. Blizard LCEs usually end up worth quite a bit down the road. (ESP the WoW ones)

Well if I were more in to RTS games I'd buy this without hesitation. Seeing as I'm not, though, I probably won't.

The best question is if later down the road you will be forced to by 3 CEs at $100 a pop to get the stuff for Zerg and Protoss too.   Don't lie and say you only want multiplayer, the story in SC is pretty great too.

The flash drive dog tag with OG Starcraft pre-loaded on it is the stand out in this package. Just such a cool idea.

That is an amazing deal for $100. If I was into SC I think this is what I would buy.
