Activision has posted the new site for Raven Software's upcoming Wolfenstein sequel, which, apparently, is just going to be called Wolfenstein. You can head over there for a spot of media and news on the game, though I have shamelessly lifted all of the screenshots for your perusal here.

We'll be getting a firsthand look at Wolfenstein in the very near future, so stay tuned for some hard info. In the meantime, I would invite other developers of World War II-themed shooters to ruminate on a truth Raven clearly understands. That is, the best way to keep your WWII game fresh? Nazis in robot suits.

That soldier looks lifeless...but maybe that's the point =/

Please let this be good.

I've always enjoyed the more OTT Wolfeinstein game world to the dime-a-dozen, 'serious', world-war two shooters out there - please, Raven, don't mess it up now.

Looks good.  I absolutely loved and played the hell out of Return to Castle Wolfenstein and will be very much anticipating this newest installment.  :)

I sold my copy of RTCW on Ebay - it was a special edition, too. I have since regretted the decision :(

*hopes that there will be a Steam sale on iD Super Pack soon*

Is it so hard to put a damn 2 at the end of it?

#7 Posted by darthzew (304 posts) -

It's an interesting idea, but I can't help but notice that the screens look awful.

#8 Posted by DeavonW (42 posts) -

I hope its as long/good as the last one!

If Hitler is not the final boss I will not care.

The shoulders remind me of the Tesla armor in Fallout 3.

#11 Posted by AndrewB (7621 posts) -

Missed opportunity. It should have been called Return to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, or Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Look Who's Returning Now!

Personally, I think that looks uninspired to say the least. Am I finally getting shooter fatigue syndrome? Maybe...those pics make me want to take a nap.

Why do the Nazis not have swastikas seems like that should be common place

#14 Posted by killdave (1073 posts) -

Because the swastikas is actually "banned" in some European countries.

As long as the multiplayer is amazing as RTCW was in its time, I will be happy.

The armored one has one on his forehead.

It's not being made by id? I love me some Wolfenstein, but I mean... I don't know

If it has Enemy Territory style multiplayer, however, I'll buy twelve copies.

As long as this game involves circle strafing madness, I think I'll be fine.

WOW! i remember asking for Return to Castle Wolfenstein for the Christmas 7 years ago in 2002 the first ever PC game i got (Come to think of it i must of only been 12 at the time). This is a must buy for me not only because it looks great  but also sentimental value.

#23 Posted by theMcNasty (740 posts) -

I didn't hear about this at all until recently.  Was that the point?  Anyway, really excited to purchase this one.

#25 Posted by TwoOneFive (9459 posts) -

dont care. i think its too late to even attempt to try and convince consumers to purchase a game like this. we already have resistance series and i think that about cuts it.

looks really gd cant wait but did anyone else noticed the hands look a nit werid

Compared to RTCW this game just looks bad  and generic :\ RTCW had the best graphics for it's day and it still prides it's self on having some of the best pre DX 9 fire graphics.

This game better have multiplayer thats as good aswel.

Really disappointed after the GameTrailers TV episode... Where's my current-gen Wolf ET?

#29 Posted by c1337us (5751 posts) -

I would love to play more Wolfenstein. The last reimagining was pretty awesome. But robot Nazis < zombie Nazis. Just sayin'.

#30 Posted by Floppypants (798 posts) -

Neon blue headcrabs?  come on.

#31 Posted by Schadenfreude (206 posts) -

Looks generic.

It does indeed look a little bit dated, but nonetheless RTCW was probably the definitive team based FPS of it's time. I practically didn't play anything for like 2 years except RTCW! So I'll still give this Wolfenstien the benefit of a doubt, It might just be as good as the last one.

"Dynamite Planted."
"DEFEND THE OBJECTIVE!"
"The enemy is weakened!"

Really can't wait for this...Mainly because I never got to play the originals.

This game looks off the DIZZLE fo shizzle my nizzle moizzle boeizzle. or something along thoses lines.

#35 Posted by theredace (80 posts) -

Hmm. Those screens don't look that impressive.

Don't wanna rain on your parade BoG, but id didn't make the last Wolfenstein either. They only published it, same as this one. And Raven has a pretty good track record for FPS's I think, I know I played the hell outta some SoF2 MP.

#37 Posted by MeatSim (10861 posts) -

Wolfenstein's multiplayer is some of the best I can't wait just for that.

#38 Posted by Tru3_Blu3 (3205 posts) -

This game is looking horrible.

#39 Posted by floodiastus (1262 posts) -

looks crap ;)

#40 Edited by ChrisInCali (146 posts) -

Looks like another generic, crappy shooter.

#41 Posted by LtColJaxson (1137 posts) -

Those character models look terrible. They don't stand naturally at all... looks very last-gen.

I enjoyed the past games, so hopefully this improves by the time it launches.

RTCW was Grey Matter and Nerve with permission from id, so anything's possible. Although Raven kinda soured me after Quake 4, so I'm a little reluctant.
#43 Posted by P_Pigly_Hogswine (102 posts) -

Wow, those graphics are nasty. Everything looks like it's made out of plastic and paper maché.

Quake Wars is damn good on PC, just too hardcore for most people.

This isn't the second Wolfenstein for those who wanted a "2" at the end.
#45 Posted by DukeTogo (1504 posts) -

In that 3rd pic the guy is holding the weapon wrong, in fact it appears that the models hold all of the guns the same way.  I hope they do a little more research before beta.

#46 Posted by TomA (2531 posts) -

Nazi's in robot suits, awesome idea. But you know they will cop out and still make the Allies win the war, even though they have freakin Nazi bobots.

#47 Posted by Kazona (3068 posts) -

Only Wolfenstein game I ever played was the very first one.

#48 Posted by killdave (1073 posts) -

In this game you play as a Cyborg-Zombie Hitler taking over the world.

SOLD

*Based on a true story* ... Hitler was real right???

#49 Posted by AdSapien (104 posts) -

Did the Robo-Nazi with huge shoulder lanterns really need camouflage on his armour?  Where's he going to hide? In the shadows he just banished with 1,000,000 candlepower pauldrons?

PLEASE GIVE US SOME INFO ON MULTIPLAYER!!!  Please please please!!  I and many others could care less about the single player.  We pretty much know it will be mediocre, BJ against the Nazis.  BJ can use the "veil" for otherworldly powers similar to bullet time etc.  No MechaHItler etc.  We know we know we know.  There...I wrote your preview.  Now please give us real EXCLUSIVE info on multiplayer...then you will be GOdz.
