TL;DL Podcast 26: What would Chie do?

No Caption Provided

Oh my god, we missed a week I am so sorry. What happened to episode 25 is strictly the fault of Garageband. Lately there alway seems to be something technical about it where it just fucks up and I have no understanding on how to fix it. I may have a lot of apple products but I'm not a wizard.

So we just do another episode anyway.. Show must go on and all. Bonbolapti (that's I) hosts with the regular crew of at least Bene and Ossi. Ossi starts up the conversation right away and we talk about games, tropes, culture, and that goddamn internet.

Here's the part where I'm just going to ask for some participation. Around the end of the podcast we talk about how interest in communicating with the audience. Reach out, and make this stuff more fun. If you have any comments or questions you wish to bring up, feel free to comment below. If we get enough, we'll dedicate an entire podcast to it. (probably. It would be a nice change of pace for us in general.)

Just never mind my snarky, cynical attitude.

Download link is Right here, or get it on the iTunes music store.

Thanks for listening. We'll see you again next week.

Hello Fellow Fellows, come now and join us for another Episode of the classiest Mother Loving podcast around. Apathylad takes the reigns as host once again, for I had to spend another weekend doing tv show stuff that sadly didn't get anywhere.

Thankfully it doesn't stop these guys from talking. Apathy is joined by DolphinButter, Ossi, Sidescroller and special guest appearance by Early TL;DL alumni Tiwi-chan. So gather around the campfire children, they're going to tell Playstation Ghost stories.

In the loop, this time around.

  • Naruto Ninja Storm 3. If you're a fan of Naruto, then this is the continuation of the game for you.
  • Tomb Raiderz
  • Metal Gear Rising, in adequate discourse. Yay? Nay? Hay-hay-hay!
  • Playstation 4 was announced and there was a controller, and there was tech, and there was community. Stuff! Things! Drama! Explosions!
  • Durr-stiny. (hah! I made a joke!) Don't worry, Sides gives you reasons why you should probably be excited!
  • Maunster Haunter 3DS and Wee-you.
  • Tiwi dedicates the end of the podcast to playing the N64. More importantly, Smash Brothers.

There we go, that's a podcast! Um, I should be back next week, but give this one a listen. It's a good one. Guarenteed to entertain for at LEAST an hour. As usual download is right here, or you can wait for it to show up on iTunes.

Thanks for listenistening,

Big Popa-Lapti

Edit: I forgot that I wanted to share this. Apathy went through the trouble to make it, and it's been one of our favorite TL;DL moments that have happened. So here, I'ma share it:

TL;DL 23: These guys

How is everybody doing today? Are we all glued to our 3DS's, balls deep in Fire Emblem: Awakening? Has the launch of the new site thrown your meticulous system out of whack? Did we all listen to last weeks episode? Should I apologize for the lateness?

Well don't fret, because I'm going to anyway. In fact, I'm making it up to you by giving you a new one a little bit early. It was just that efficient of a day. That catch is, we are just two people this week. Bene joins me to discuss topics in an orderly fashion, while everyone else has lives to attend to.

Consider this episode a pretty ironic one.

Tune in and turn up your listenin' ears, partake in the discussion at hand in the comments. Just get yourself cozy and be surprised that two guys can have so much to say.

In this week's cast:

  • We get right into it with a conversation Bon has been waiting for WEEKS to have with Bene: MOON BASE ALPHA, and the secret enjoyment of sim games.
  • Bon breaks his legendary silence on what he's been working on since November: A panel show.
  • The YEAR of LUIGI
  • That PS4 controller, and console naming conventions.
  • Bon talks a little bit of Fire Emblem, including speculation of future DLC maps.
  • Then bene brings it to a close with a rousing game of Dragonbjorn DLC for that there Skyrim game.

An hour, an HOUR of toe-tapping talk. For the Podcast you can DOWNLOAD HERE, or check it out at the iTunes music store. But I implore you, while you're there feel free to rate the podcast and we'll improve and have fun with everything accordingly.

Thanks for listening, and be sure to tune in next week. I am once again spending a Sunday for make benefit of television, but those Chuckleheads can and have a pretty interesting podcast going without me.

Just a little bit late, but better that then never. It's the TL;DL PODCAST. Episode 22 is a special one, because Bonbolapti is gone. Wait, that's me. I was missing from the podcast. I had show stuff to do all day so Apathylad wants to take over decided to take the reigns as host. With him is the usuals DolphinButter and Ossi, it's a small group today. Oh yeah, and Sidescroller totally appears out of thin air to be the forth wheel. NOW LET'S GET THIS PARTY BUS MOVING!

What's in this podcast?

  • What do I care, I'm not in this one.
  • Well, they talk about that Wii U hardware bundle.
  • Fuck the Used game market. M I RITE?
  • The Fire Emblem conversation I would have liked to be a part of. I'm talking to my computer hoping to be part of the conversation.
  • Dolphin deletes his 3DS's identity.
  • Sides is all up in that Dad Space 3
  • Apathy spoils the Dead Space iOS game for EVERYBODY.
  • The Dorkness
  • That fun little art conversation that we always need to have in our lives every once in a while.
  • Ossi is afraid of Mr. slendermenn
  • Fun Sony Conference speculations: Sidescroller edition.
  • Ossi played another demo. Etrian Odyssey?
  • OSSI THINKS ULTIMATE NINJA STORM THREE LOOKS AMAZING. and he also thinks the games do a way better job of telling the story then the anime does. agree?
  • Oh god they're having an anime conversation. #justjokes #yeahyohYEAHYOH.
  • Then they round it off by never stop mentioning games that they've touched within the week.

TL;DL Episode 21: Rub to win

I apparently start the show dropping a lot of F-bombs. Hi, I'm Bonbolapti, you might remember me from such things as guy playing with shoes on that one episode of the last season of Fringe. Today, I present to you another wonderful Episode of TL;DL. Joining me is Dolphin Butter, Apathylad and the ever Ossi. Nobody else.

Join us will you please, for a delightfully quiet show.

WHAT'S IN THIS ONE?

  • Apathylad talks about his Trip to Treyarch, something about Call of Duty maps. They hold events for maps.
  • What's the difference between COD maps and BF ones?
  • Dolphin likes to avoid talking
  • Subscription benefits
  • XENOGAEMS.
  • Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, and Bon goes on record of saying positive things about it, and screw haters. I'm serious, we get deep in there and talk Pros for as many bloody cons that you know it has.
  • We are going to VOW to not talk about Square-enix anymore.
  • Then we segue to Playstation 4 talk.
  • The Microsoft way of handling indie games.
  • The Price is right – PS4 edition.
  • Dolphin Has also played some new Project Diva game for his Vita?
  • Shoenen Jump Video games, when and what is the next one?
  • IT'S OVER IT'S OVER IT'S OVER.
  • SUDDENLY MORE AUDIO APPEARS. (TL;DL #afterdark)

I hope you enjoyed the show, I have a feeling that the next podcast is going to include conversation about Fire Emblem, like it's a game that just came out. BUT, seeings how we usually record on Sundays, your old pal Uncle Lapti over here has some television entertainment related things to do for the afternoon, so it's up to the rest of the crew wether they want to do a new one for next week, or... not.

DOWNLOAD LINK IS RIGHT HERE, or visit the iTunes music store. Thanks as always for taking the time to listen.

TL;DL Episode 20: JRPGs are dead (So is THQ)

Hear-yee, Hear-yee! Gaming Royalty has once again graced the presence of TL;DL's eardrums! None other that Vidiot comes from beyond the grave of school work to talk about Ni No Kuni, and the merits as applied to the JRPG genre. Ossi, and Bene also tag along to discuss things like Nintendo Direct. Meanwhile Dolphin Butter is also here, sitting in the corner sipping a hot cup of cocoa, supervising the tomfoolery. Episode 20 of this potentially award winning podcast is ready, BUT... is your body?

Cliffy notes:

  • THQ, you came, you made games happen, and now you're gone.
  • Nintendo Direct Confrence, what we should be getting excited for.
  • A Ni No Kuni conversation, that takes a much more deeper turn.
  • The joy of playing a video game in a different language, like FRENCH for example.
  • What's going on in Norway? Goat Cheese?
  • Fire Emblem meets Shin Megami Tensei
  • Yoshi's Yarn story
  • Clay-mation related subject matter.
  • Vidiot calls out Sidescroller on a matter that he SHOULD HAVE been there to defend.

DOWNLOAD THE EPISODE RIGHT HERE~ or if you use iTunes, and subscribe, then the episode should be good to go.

Once again, thanks for listening, and we're only getting betterer, so tune in next week!

TL;DL Episode 19: Pajama Party!

No Caption Provided
Download Linky-poo. OR wait for it do show up on iTunes and get it there.

What better way to spend a sunday, then to gather together your closest girlfriends. Grab the buckets of ice-cream, Sapporo Ichiban, Mojitos, floweriest Pjs, a VHS copy of 'Love Actually' only to set it off to the side and talk about video games. The Gangster Squad of Pre-fessional Opinion is back for another round, as Bon, Dolphin, Ossi, Apathy, Bene, and Arbie talk nothing more then the supposedly important crap that happened it the past week. It's hands free and we are no longer using Vent for the banter, the crew moved on over to G+ for a much more improved audio and intimate talking experience.

Hence the Pyjamas.

So no more stilted sentences, everything is LISTENABLE. #wefoundaway

WHATS-A-COMIN-A-GOIN-TODAY:

  • Wake-up club.
  • DmC, Dudes Must Converse. Dolph and Bon but heads as one side and the other. The outcome, and then a little more commentary on the situation as a whole.
  • The Bust of a Bust was a Bust (I just really like that as a sentence)
  • The we stop everything and talk about something fun. Ossi bought a Wii U, and shares his experience. Nintendo Land? Mii-verse? Sounds pretty positive.
  • Rhythm horror stories and potential Dangers
  • Final Fantasy: ALL THE BRAVEST the fundamentals of iOS tapper-tantrums (and you, and us, and them)
  • A Fortune Street PSA.
  • Stories about Cats. I hear people love those things... Well, except for Ossi.
  • The mystical nature of Arbie's name in relation to American fast food.

Tune in Next week though, When Vidioto gets to talk Ni No Kuni, because guaranteed, he's the only one out of all of us that'll have the game in his hands. So we should hype this train, bother him for a week, make sure he's around on Sunday to record.

Till Next week, Party on Guys.

Bonne

SSC 22 - Emotional Jumping Puzzles

Okay, Let's start this SSC by being social. Somebody needs to explain to me why 'Final Fantasy: All the Bravest' is the most godawful thing Square-Enix has ever done. I'm serious, because I'm really curious to play the game for myself, another game for my iPhone? Now I have something that I can waste my time in, while I wait for a floor to restock in Tiny Tower.

Is it because it's like a majority of other games out there that do nothing but mine your stupidity? Is it because it's a Final Fantasy game that doesn't have a deep enough story that doesn't involve the decaying of crystals, or a strangely effeminate Bad-guy? I've also heard a lot of talk about this game signalling the slow death of the Franchise, but we all know that happened a long time ago.

What's your take? Anybody have it? Anybody actually enjoy it for the thing that it is, and not the thing that everybody apparently wants it to be? How about a Square-Enix game that we can all get behind... like FORTUNE STREET SMART.

I'm actually going to admit that I have nothing to talk about, because I keep the bulk of my conversation for a podcast. So I never think it's a good idea to mention anything until after the cast is recorded and posted. I guess it's a strange kind of of writer's block, which isn't so much of a block as it is a holding back.

So in any case, a lot more of my video game related momentum is now going towards that, and I'm trying to think of ways to make it a lot more interesting. For those of you that did not appreciate all the audio hookups, (that includes me as well.) We fixed that major issue, and we are now ready to present an easier listening experience.

It's also great to get back into it and practice hosting. As mentioned two casts ago, I'm working on a show here in happy little Vancouver and it requires hosting ability. Wanting to be the one to pick up the mantle and host away, so practicing is going to make me perfect. One can only hope. Working on the show is a learning experience itself, because I only went to school for the acting part and know next to nothing about the rest of it. Thankfully my 3 or so years in the industry has granted me the chance to work with a competent crew. I can only hope that we can make something good for television that doesn't involve the personal shitty lives of terribly stupid people.

SO GAMES. *cough-cough. All I can really talk about is DmC right now, and I've been piddling around my head trying to express the proper words that I feel about it. Because I am a fan of the series and I just don't like Ninja Theory games. Can't get into them, never could. Thankfully, DmC plays exactly how you've come to expect it to for YEARS, so I'm pretty conflicted by the outcome in-front of me. I wouldn't say that it's the best Devil May Cry ever, nor is it a 'refreshing reboot that the series desperately needed.' It really feels more like it's the same fucking game that it's always been, save for streamlining some gameplay that feels a little more confusing at times, and a hell of a lot more Jumping puzzles than you'd expect or want. So from my perspective it strangely looks like people are acting as if these elements were JUST invented! For this game!

Look, the game is OK. But I can't agree with the characters that Ninja Theory crafted, and written.

I'm so conflicted, but I have more to talk about when we get to the TL;DL podcast later today.

So to recap:

  • iPhone games.
  • Podcast stuff
  • My Career
  • Devil maybe can, but I really don't know if this is the direction I want this series to go, and jesus christ a lot of those unlock-able costumes make him look like even more of a shithead than he already is. WHATWHODOYOUTHINKYOUAREIAM!

I think in an alternate reality desperately trying to become this one, I should just put video games away and concentrate on more important things. But at the same time, I really should get back into the habit of writing absolute nonsense. So I guess right now, my life is DmC. Full of conflict.

Oh wait hey,

I also played that Fire Emblem Demo on the 3DS. It's still as Fire Emblem as it ever was, and the game looks nice! The 3D is as neat as it can be with that game, and I'm grateful with the inclusion of the casual mode, because that's exactly how I plan on playing that game. Casually. So hopefully I'll finally pick up this one Fire Emblem game and break my legendary silence on the series as a whole.

To rile some feathers I'd imagine.

Till next time,

Uncle Lapti.

TL;DL Episode 18: Ni Nonononononono Kuni

No Caption Provided

HEY GUYS, How are we doing? It's another week and HOLY CARP, it's another podcast. Who saw that coming? I certainly didn't. Especially since Episode 17 is like a week old now, and you should probably listen to something fresh and awesome.

Listen, I know times are tough. I know DmC is getting positive reviews. I know we all want to hate it and cry and bitch and moan, but wouldn't you rather take your mind off it and listen to your favorite podcast for a while? Hell, MAYBE you could even listen to us! Just throwing that suggestion out there, with my cool kid shades and my finger-guns attitude!

With Ni no Kuni just around the bend, Ossi goes into great detail of his Demo experience, ApathyLad Mentions key facts on the history of Sonic, Arbie joins the club in which we talk about Zelda, Aurahack keeps on EuroTruckin', Dolphin Butter Talks up some FTL and RE6 (which promps Bon to turn into 'Old Man Lapti'), Then Bene closes the show with a little Farcry 3 chatter.

Yeah it's just your average run of the mill podcast that is actually totally super cool and you'll want to listen to it.

Fun Fact: Since the return, a bunch of old contributors have expressed interest in returning. I hear that they are some pretty cool people and you should probably keep your ear open. I'm not saying who they are, but I will say with such a robust crew already, expect some folks to draw the short straw.

It's also worth noting that it got a little glitchy somewhere close to the beginning. The recorder had a hiccup, and there's no way around it. OH WELL IT'S STILL A REALLY AWESOME PODCAST.

Till Next time Kiss Kiss,

Bon

TL;DL 17: This is just a really good podcast about videogames

Times get tough, Lives need to be lived. 2012 was a year for a lot of things, but one of them didn't really involve recording a podcast. I checked, the last TL;DL podcast happened on August 15 2011. That was a long as time ago. So we decided to get back into the swing of things if only because 2012 was over. Contenders Bonbolapti, Ossi, Bene, ApathyLad, Aurahack, Vidiot and quiet newcomer Erz gather and squabble like children. Goddamn Children. Normally we'd also have DolphinButter on the mic, but he had the equally important job of recording.Oh yeah, and we still haven't mastered Ventrilo, so expect some really weird ass cuts.

Plus the fact that we haven't done this in a long time, also introduces the longest podcast we've probably ever done!

  • What is probably a compliment to our professionalism, We start the podcast over spilt tea.
  • Game of the Year Talk? Nah, it's been done. So let's just discuss the fundamentals of Indie games and Triple A games.
  • UNGREATFUL CHILDREN
  • NEXT GEN STUFF
  • I already forget what's being talked about on this podcast.
  • Some Dishonoured talk
  • Frog Fractions begets Furry-dom
  • Serious Pokemon Discussion.
  • FFXIII-1-2-3
  • what's to look forward to in 2013? Serious topics are Serioused.
  • Such Serious Topics are Serious Zelda talk.

That's all we got for now, I know it's been a long as time, so honestly, thanks for living. I'm also thinking that since I have proper internet space now, I'll be able to archive all the TL;DL episodes and set up something on iTunes... that's how it works right?

UPDATE: EDIT: GUESS WHAT: OMG: iTUNES LINK MOTHER EFERRSSSSS
