Tekken 7, the next primary entry in Bandai Namco's Tekken series, was first announced via leak on July 13th, 2014 and officially revealed by series creator Katsuhiro Harada later that day at EVO 2014 with a cinematic trailer. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 4.
The first location tests of the arcade game are being held in Tokyo and Osaka from October 3 to 5, 2014. The arcade version will receive a wide location test release in Asia in December 2014. The game's first wide arcade release is slated for February 18, 2015.
In the initial teaser trailer, Kazuya Mishima's mother Kazumi states that she must stop Heihachi. She also makes mention of Kazuya inheriting her powers, referencing the origins of Kazuya and his son Jin Kazama's Devil Gene powers, long thought to have been given to Kazuya by the devil that saved his life (in exchange for his soul) as a child.
According to Harada during San Diego Comic Con 2014, the story will be more involved than previous Tekkens, and will revolve around the reason Heihachi killed Kazumi. Both he and the extended teaser shown that day indicated that Tekken 7 will be the final chapter of the series to revolve around the Mishima family blood feud.
