During the Microsoft press conference earlier today Valve announced a full sequel to Left 4 Dead. Titled Left 4 Dead 2, the game is set for a November 17, 2009 release date and will be available for X360 and PC. The game will feature new campaigns, co-op missions and survival modes.

The 1st hasn't even been out a year yet. THIS IS TOTALLY WEIRD..........anyways they will HAVE to change the box art for the UK. Because thats SWEARING IN THE UK!
So where did episode 3 go, and why did I pay 50$ for 4 levels? I guess I wrongly assumed L4D was going to get the same treatment TF2 got and am paying for it.
Oh man. I hate that they're making this a standalone title rather than a DLC pack or something, it's very out of character for Valve. Still a must buy, however.
It is just way to soon for there to be a Left 4 Dead sequel. I mean, I was hoping Left 4 Dead would be similar in terms of Team Fortress 2 with updates being released on a semi-regular basis. This better not be a sign of Valve going down a dark and dangerous path.
@giyanks22: i Think theres just so much more going into it, L4D doesn't have much of a script or character development or at least not as much as a half life, i think they just want to put the time in to make it right.
You guys whining about Ep3 and other games not announced by Valve realize that L4D2 was announced in a MS event and not a Valve or EA event... right? I mean, you arent THAT stupid are you? Are you?
They need to announce something great for this to get me to pay full price. L4D is great but there is not enough content to be putting down another $60. They're doing 5 campaigns this time but only with 4 chapters each. So were getting the same amount of content as the first. What happened to Valve supporting the game after release? Seems like all were getting is the survival pack, which should have been included on the retail release to begin with.
Putting up two fingers like that is offensive in the UK - it's like giving the middle finger right at the end of their trailer. Fucking awesome.
Edit: I also doubt this is the only valve stuff we'll see this E3. I haven't even seen Gabe clad in his favourite food-stained T-shirt yet. This was just a short trailer.
To soon, they should have stuck with new dlc for L4D not made a sequel. Hopefully it will have more content. I do feel slightly ripped off for paying full price for L4D.
It's a new Left 4 Dead... Why am I unhappy? Probably because it just doesn't look as good. None of the characters seem really interesting (not like the first L4D, anyway) and the whole "use a chainsaw and frying pan as weapons" thing seems more than a little cliched, and definitely goofy. It's a Valve game, so it's going to be awesome, but I guess the real question is: Will it be better than the first Left 4 Dead?
In addition to that, it seems far too early to releasing a full sequel. I would much rather see an expansion. It's a great game with a lot of replayability, and creating new levels/weapons would only add more content to an already fantastic game.
Hmm, I think they need to make it more open ended. I'm also not sure if this is worth the price of a full box, no matter how much fun the co-op is. There just wasn't enough to play, I wanna blow up zombies all day, not just an afternoon.
Ok I payed for discounted L4D on steam, like 3 weeks ago, so I'm only a little angry it's stand-alone. However, I hope they do realize we still have 4 campaigns, and that I've played 'em all A LOT....
Sad that L4D didn't get this as an update but whatever. After hours and hours of play I definitely got my moneys worth out of the original. Just hope this one is released completed unlike the first eg. all campaigns in versus!
