I think this could be done well if is heavy on the camp and is self aware of the ridiculousness of it all. The question is, will the film be based in the original arcade version, or the Atari 2600 remake? Because the 2600 version really took some liberties with the Asteroids mythos, I don't even think it's canon.

This article really let's you know why Ryan is a good writer. He could have written "I will eat my hat", but the man's shrewd sense of comedic timing, coupled with the Asteroids theme of the article, and now the once generic line has become "I will eat my goddamn Space Hat." Now the line is FUCKING HYSTERICAL.

It's not that strange, I mean the storyline of Asteroids is pretty deep if you play it much. The protagonist most commonly known as "the ship" has a dark backstory, man this movie is going to have so much depth to it.

The reason its stupid is because there was no reason or need to buy the Asteroids license. These fucking producers are retarded.

this honostly sounds super stupid. now a movie about pong would be awesome. 2 brothers blaming each other for their parents divorce and problems in their lives face off in a scifi blade runneresque world in a life or death match of pong. who will survive? will they forgive each other? will either resort to cheating? watch the epic motion picture to find out!

This may turn out good. I mean, it's not like there's too many ways to dissapoint the fans, if it has a spaceship and rocks, it wins.

I'm starting to think they only decided to tie this loose story concept to the Asteroids game so that Ryan would have to make a TANG about it.

What audience is going to see this? Who is this movie for? The die hard Asteroid players? They wont see it. There's no way this movie is going to sell.
