At the very least, it will make a good TANG.

Atari's bestselling game of all time, Asteroids was one of the most influential releases of the Golden Age of Arcade Games. One of the first space shooters, it was the inspiration for many of the dual stick shooter games of the modern era, Geometry Wars chief among them.
Asteroids Movie Details
Someone needs to make a video of Brad and Vinny's improv script from the Bombcast with some Asteroids gameplay. Mission accomplished.
I think this could be done well if is heavy on the camp and is self aware of the ridiculousness of it all. Other than that, I just hope it is better than Dragon Ball, that piece of trash was horrible. I made it up to the point where Goku is in highschool and some random chick is like "You used your Ki!" after he opens fucking lockers. Md and my roommate both looked at it each other and were like, if we don't leave we are both going to die
That still doesn't explain why they needed the Asteroids license to make this film. My God, this is the dumbest idea I have ever heard of. This all has to be intentional. Something this ridiculous has to draw some attention, and they know it.
This article really let's you know why Ryan is a good writer. He could have written "I will eat my hat", but the man's shrewd sense of comedic timing, coupled with the Asteroids theme of the article, and now the once generic line has become "I will eat my goddamn Space Hat." Now the line is FUCKING HYSTERICAL.
That's real writing.
@VibratingDonkey
The Tetris movie is great. Oscar winning material :D
" I still haven't got a clue why they need the asteroids license to make this movie. "Because they couldn't afford to buy the rights to Armageddon?
" Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood - IN SPACE! "Call of Juarez: Bound in Space?
Cal of Juarez: Bound in Space-Blood?
Call of Space: Bound in Juarez?
as stupid as this sounds, I can't wait to see it.
I look forward to the Asteroid purists protesting the movie "the ship is not triangle enough" "the asteroid doesn't break up like they do in the game"
gotta give em credit for picking an IP that gives them complete freedom with story and dialogue and still call it 'a movie based on a video game'
this honostly sounds super stupid. now a movie about pong would be awesome. 2 brothers blaming each other for their parents divorce and problems in their lives face off in a scifi blade runneresque world in a life or death match of pong. who will survive? will they forgive each other? will either resort to cheating? watch the epic motion picture to find out!
I'm starting to think they only decided to tie this loose story concept to the Asteroids game so that Ryan would have to make a TANG about it.
