The idea of making Chrono Trigger started by a collaboration between three Japanese "giants" in the industry: Hironobu Sakaguchi (creator of Final Fantasy), Yuji Hori (creator of Dragon Quest) and Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball) had an event to attend in the US and they traveled together, where they shared the idea of making a game together. You hear the phrase "Best Game Ever!!" bandied around a lot these days. However, I am not exaggerating when I say that Chrono Trigger justly deserves that title. It is my favorite RPG of all time, and justly deserves to be on any greatest games of all time list. Chrono Trigger was an amazing game back when it was released in 1995. Unfortunately not many people had played it. If you were one of the people who were fortunate enough to have played it you probably completely understand why this game gets 4 and a half stars. This is a game with a great cast and a great story and great gameplay. The graphics were also great for their time and still look very sharp today. I don't think there's anyone on the planet what calls themselves gamer that doesn't like this game. It's a time-travel RPG with all the bad bits of standard RPGs taken out of it. Timeless, unique, and a modern classic 1
I chose this as my first review on Giant Bomb for a reason. No other RPG, or game in general for that matter, has ever captured me the way Chrono Trigger did. I spent countless hours playing and replaying this amazing (if a little short) adventure. I remember playing many RPGs for the Super Nintendo in my youth. I would get together with a group of friends, and we would spend hours grinding our characters, advancing the storyline, and passing the controller off to each other while exchanging our ideas about how to make progress and discussing the storyline.
