Duke Nukem Forever "Balls Of Steel Edition" Detailed

Posted by BradNicholson (1556 posts) -

In addition to having a real, actual release date, Duke Nukem Forever will have a special Collector’s Edition set, 2K Games has revealed. Dubbed the “Balls of Steel Edition,” this collector’s set will feature an assortment of Duke-themed odds and ends, which is appropriate considering that the game’s campaign will apparently have Duke doing just a little bit of everything.

The star of the set is undoubtedly the collectible Duke Nukem bust that you’ll see below, but the bundle will also include a sharp 100-page hardback book that details the history, the legacy, and the legend of Duke Nukem Forever. Also, there are dice with a radioactive emblem etched into their surface.

== TEASER ==Here’s the full list of stuff in the Balls of Steel edition, as gathered by Shacknews

  • Collectible bust of the greatest ass-kicker of all-time
  • Numbered limited edition certificate of authenticity 100-page hardcover book: 'History, Legacy & Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art from the Vault'
  • Duke Nukem Forever postcard series
  • Duke Nukem Forever radioactive emblem sticker
  • Duke Nukem Forever collectable comic book
  • Duke Nukem Forever foldable paper craft
  • Duke Nukem Forever poker chips
  • Duke Nukem Forever mini-card deck
  • Duke Nukem Forever radioactive emblem dice

Look good? Careful. It looks like 2K Games will only be producing 2,000 units. So, if you’re willing to bet on Duke Nukem Forever, it might be wise to pre-order this set as soon as possible.

There are no Balls of Steel? LAME.

A bust.

A freakin' bust. Talk about going all the way.

Paper craft? Really?

#6 Posted by Tredik (77 posts) -

This is all well and good, but until I get word on Steamworks support, I'm willing to go without.

#7 Posted by mordukai (7817 posts) -

They should have called it the Bubble Gum edition.

Sounds awesome, don't think I'll drop the $ on it though.

Depending on the price point (I'm going to go out on a limb and say $150-200), this might TOTALLY be worth it.

The only thing it doesn't include is the actual game.

Wait, it has a Duke Nukem bust?

#14 Posted by t2t2 (155 posts) -

... and duke's still out of gum

@BradNicholson  @ Undeadpool

GameStop has it listed at $99.99, didn't see that in the story and thought I'd share it.

Amazon and Gamestop both list this at $100. That seems steep for a game that has been receiving luke-warm write ups in the press. I'm on the fence.

This should have included an hourglass with the sand stuck in one side. Shouldn't it?

....
that's a pretty sweet looking thing.

God damn this edition comes with a lot of shit.

#20 Posted by Maotou (75 posts) -
 This actually sounds pretty alright.
#21 Posted by test0r (94 posts) -

It would be amazing if they just included two steel balls aswell.

#22 Posted by csl316 (10868 posts) -

Balls of Steel was a bad ass pinball game, I'm disappointed it's not included here.

Damn, I wish I didn't quit my job because I'd be all over this.

If i had the money... I have a strong urge for the poker-chip for some reason.

Who can't wait to buy this on eBay? I know I can't!

#25 Posted by 1p (798 posts) -

So it's actually called the "Balls of Steel Edition"?

A job well done, folks.

#26 Posted by SuperSambo (3021 posts) -

Tempting and reasonably priced.

#27 Posted by Gerhabio (1992 posts) -

Figured it would have actual replicas of his testicles, wouldn't put it past money.

I'd have paid a premium for the controller in the trailer but alas.

#30 Posted by CornBREDX (6551 posts) -

It's priced @ 100$ on amazon at the moment. I just pre-ordered.

Hey, I don't need another pair of steel balls!  Hey-ooooohhhh!
#32 Posted by Tesla (2005 posts) -

Oh my god, I feel like I have to own this.

#33 Posted by Hailinel (25787 posts) -

I'd love to see what's in that book on the game's history.  Holy hell, there's a lot of weirdness they could pack in that.

#34 Posted by gla55jAw (2767 posts) -

I shouldn't but I totally will.

#35 Posted by MysteriousBob (6262 posts) -

The history book is the most notable thing yet this article doesn't even acknowledge it.

#36 Posted by Cameron (624 posts) -

The poker chips had better say "Always bet on Duke!" on them.

#37 Posted by EoinMason (93 posts) -

I...actually want this.

No real idea why but I want this. Like, it'd be the only way I'd buy Duke Nukem Forever.

#38 Posted by BD (272 posts) -

I wonder if they will count the people that pre-ordered in '97?

#39 Posted by Cynic04 (132 posts) -

[insert vent harass video here]

#40 Posted by NickM (1122 posts) -

Perhaps the only time I'll ever be interested in seeing an artbook for a game.

#45 Posted by Malakhii (1444 posts) -

I'm normally not one for collectors editions, but this is pretty cool.

Carpe Nukem - seize the balls
#48 Posted by max3000 (414 posts) -
@test0r:  Oh dear lord that would have been amazing.
#49 Posted by wolf_blitzer85 (5284 posts) -

I'm bummed by the lack of balls.

#50 Posted by JTB123 (1167 posts) -
@Ineedaname: That would have been an awesome plus for this package.

I'll probably get this if it's not too pricy, but the extras actually seem worth quite a bit for once.
