The only time I ever played in first person was when I wanted to pan the camera around and check out my dood. Other than that, I always explored the Wastes in 1st person.
Fallout 3
Game » consists of 45 releases. Released Oct 28, 2008
In Bethesda's first-person revival of the classic post-apocalyptic RPG series, the player is forced to leave Vault 101 and venture out into the irradiated wasteland of Washington D.C. to find his or her father.
Do you mostly play in 1st person or 3rd person view?
" The game looks and feels so retarded in third person. Mainly because the animations in that game are shit"I sold my console copy and picked up the pc version, and that is no longer an issue. In fact with a simple animation mod it improved the game by quite a bit IMO.
I play in third person quite a bit for that same reason. But usually switch to first for combat." Personally I play mostly in 3rd person as I like to see my dude (atm I have a Richard Dawkins look - a - like scientist dude :D ) "
I'm a little bit of both. Whenever I get into some serious combat I'll switch to third person, but whenever i'm casually walking around in the wasteland or fighting off simple enemies i'll go into third person. I believe it makes the game a lot more interesting and I find the wasteland to be more believable and life-like in third person.
I'm going to have to change my answer. I said 3rd person, but since I started playing it again I have hardly used it.
I don't even think i have seen what my characters body looks like. Is it even a boy?
I hate using 3rd person view, especially in Fallout 3. I used first person in Oblivion, i think I'll continue to use it in Fallout 3.
3rd person view is retarded, your character moves all weird and feels strange to control, I think it was meant for first person.
" I play in first-person. Because I'd rather not see the gameworld scroll under my character's feet like some kind of post-apocalyptic treadmill. "Well like I said before try zooming it in a bit more on third person and you won't experience this. "
You are correct sir. Playing in RE4/RE5 over the should cam is the correct way to play this game. Everyone else is just playing it wrong. Just zoom in until you are waist-up or at least have the feet out of frame.
I personally don't like playing any game in first person, unless if its Half Life 2.
" @Suicrat said:True, but at that point your broader view is barely that, and obscured by your character enough that it almost give less visibility. And the fact is, the animations are terrible, and they controls are also terrible. Maybe not as bad as they were in oblivion (torture >.<), but bad enough. The game was definitely designed for first person. But it really depends how you play. If you play realtime, then first person is probably better, although there is room for preference obviously. If you play turn based, then third person is probably just as good if not better, with room for preference." The game looks and feels so retarded in third person.I don't agree. If you zoom the camera pretty close to your character and have an over the shoulder view like in Resi 4 the game looks really sweet and better in 3rd person IMO. "
I always play 1st person but occationally use 3rd for looking around.
What i can not understand is what is wrong with game developers, why restrict a game to a view? It does not happen else where, choice is expanding not restricting.
For instance you can choose to watch a fillm at home or in the cinima, or at home witht he lights off or standing on your head, but in games for some crazy reason the designers want to restrict you to a view, their way, one way.
Is there some sort of conspirisy against the 1st person view?
Seriously, games should be open to all views, after all in most cases if you have coded for 3rd person then 1st perosn is a breese to set up.
So come on developers, give us the consumers the choice, put te ego on hold and let us decided how we want to play your game and lets bring this crazy redicilious choice thing to an end.
But i bet no one listens - ever.
Cheers
Combat in First Person, travel in Third Person. It's easier to see things to scavenge from the zoomed out Third Person perspective.
First person. I only use 3rd person to take screenshots. Considering how terrible the camera angle is in 3rd person for doing anything besides taking pictures and how awful your animations are for various actions, it's pretty obvious that the game was made for first person.
" @Suicrat said:That sounds interesting, I might try that when I finally buy my own copy." The game looks and feels so retarded in third person.I don't agree. If you zoom the camera pretty close to your character and have an over the shoulder view like in Resi 4 the game looks really sweet and better in 3rd person IMO. "
The character animates too weird to play it in 3rd person. I'll stick with 1st, just so I can't see how awkward it is.
