We all love the content that GB put's out, but do you think that GB would be able to survive if it only had the forum and Wiki?
and no, i don't want that stuff to go away, im just wondering how many people would be interested if that were the case.
Could GB survive soley on the wiki and forum aspect?
What personality would the site have without all the other content? Otherwise it would be a slick looking wiki site with a forum.
Hell yes, especially since that's 90% of the reason I come here. It's not like I take recommendations from their reviews (I'm an RPG gamer, meaning this obviously wouldn't be the site for me in terms of that).
It would survive, but it wouldn't have the success it's having right now. A large part of the discussions on the forums involve not only the content that the staff puts out, but also discussions about the staff members themselves. Hell, I'd say the most popular topic on these forums was the photoshopped staff members.
no because that takes away the whole jeff ryan brad and vinny thing which is the whole point of the site
I can't really tell you any specifics when it comes to the site's readership, but I think it's safe to say that a large portion of people that frequent Giantbomb on a daily basis are those that have been a fan of the guys since they all worked together at Gamespot. When they all left, Gamespot's personality died for me and a lot of the other's and it was just no longer fun to visit. I'm sure that the site could survive, but I don't think it'd have the size or personality of the community it does now.
The correct answer is a resounding "Hell no". The majority of Giant Bomb's traffic comes for the editorial/video stuff with perhaps a side of wiki. We (i.e. The Forum Goers) represent only a small slice of the individuals that look at the site regularly.Â
Â
Plus, Giant Bomb isn't Giant Bomb without Ryan, Jeff, Vinny and Brad (Giant Bomb! My Heart Belongs to Giant Bomb!)
I don't think so. These forums aren't what they used to be, and I personally stopped caring about the wiki after getting 700 something points. Â

The Endurance Run kept me coming back day after day, but now that that's over.....I don't know, more videos need to be made imo.Â
No it would not. To be honest, Wikipedia is still a great place to find information on a specific video game (sometimes even better). Information is often more professionally written in Wikipedia, also. It would have to be way better if the site were to survive on that aspect alone.
