Do you feel that GiantBomb should have emotes?

Opinions? I feel there is a lack of emotes on GiantBomb and there needs to be some standard ones and pretty amazing ones.

It would be kinda cool but, I don't think we need them.

I can imagine Giant Bomb emotes being pretty rad, but I do not miss the excessive use of them from other sites.

I can live without them, it would be awesome though to be able to use the Giant bomb logo as a period.

If they were the generic yellow smiley faces then I think we could do without them.
 
But if they were something unique to GiantBomb I think it'd be really sweet. Maybe if they were modeled on the characters of the guys they use in the reviews, the different characters used depending on the score (1 star, 2 stars, 3 stars...etc) of the review. I really like them.

This has been discussed several times. I'm against it personally, I think it would ruin the clean look of the GB forums. Having said that, I do think we should get some controller button emoticons for use in Wiki and Guide editing. That would be majorly helpful.

The powers that be are strongly against this, for the same reason there aren't "sigs" on the site.

No. Emoticons mostly ruin the irony in a post. Also, my blood temperature rises to impossible values when I see morons spamming forums with XDXDXDXDXDXDXD and X(X(X(X(X(X(X(X(.

I'm pretty sure mods have the power to emote, purely because they're trusted not to spam. So yeah, We shouldn't have emotes.

I dont think we need emotes. Out of all the forums Ive been to, GiantBomb seems to have the lowest stupidity content. I think the majority of our members who actually post can express themselves without smilies.

I think we can do without the emotes. Just about every forum under the sun uses them these days, but I think that the Giant Bomb forums look neater and more sensible without generic and gimmicky smiley faces cluttering up peoples' posts.

I don't think we need the emotes, i mean the color of Giant Bomb is kinda dark and i like it. If we have emotes, the place will be all yelowish with weird faces.

Honestly, I only use two these days.  The wink-smiley face and the wink-laughing face to underline that the previous statement (whatever that may have been) was said in jest or with sarcasm.  Other than that, I've actively tried to get away from using emoticons.  I think they work fine in an MMO situation where the text should be short because the player is doing something and doesn't have time to pour over extended text, although I used to write long diatribes in WoW's chat boxes anyway.  But, here on GB, time is not a factor so each of us can take the time to write exactly what we are trying to express.  However, sometimes comedic text isn't immediately understood as satire.  Under those occasions, I use an emoticon.  But, I still feel like they're a crutch.  
 
Either way, I voted "Meh" because personally, I try my best to keep their use very limited, however I am not against anyone else using them as long as they don't abuse the privilege.

Yes. However, if everyone had it then we won't enjoy Citizenkane's emotes all that much.

I hate emoticon spam... and hate animated crap all over forums even more. Outside of a live chat environment, I don't understand the need for them. The only thing that's difficult to convey is sarcasm, really, and in that case the ;) or :P works just fine.
