Definitely not. Microsoft aren't going to put an end to such a big franchise. Unless they suddenly decide they don't like money, we're not going to see the end of the halo franchise for a long long long time.

Final Bungie made Halo game. Their child has grown up and is making so much money. Now Bungie has to asexually reproduce another kid.

I would say for this generation. MS might launch their new system with a new Halo game maybe.

I hope it's the last of this generation. I, and I hope most gamers, wouldn't mind if another is made next generation. I love to see games made on a generation to generation basis, when improvements can be vast and the graphical jump is astounding. New, top of the line tech behind a Halo game is something I can definitely get behind. But once the story runs its course (if they ever actually finalize it), it should obviously be done.

No way. I couldn't believe that for a second. Halo is too successful and important in this industry to just lower the curtain so soon. Well, unless, of course, the world ends in 2012. Then yes. Ha.

Maybe by Bungie but I seriously doubt it'll be the last Halo game ever. I mean that's about as likely as American Idol going off the air.

If it sells literally zero copies and causes genocide, then maybe.

i doubt it. halo is making a lot of money, i don't think a company is going to stop making because they don't want money.

Why? Because it's done. It's over. The story is finished. The developers have talent, and should move on to making something new and exciting. And better. Christ, why does every game have to be a series that doesn't know when to end?

I think Halo will be a lot like Star Wars (not to say the Halo games are near as good as the original tril) but basically since Bungie jumped ship, what they'll do is keep making prequels on shit and just get more and more obscure. Mark my words, you will never know what happened after Halo 3 ended but I'm positive every bit of inferred bullshit lore leading up to the original Halo will get its own game.

Halo is Microsoft's only real game property with the popularity of Mario or Ratchet & Clank.  Don't expect Microsoft to suddenly stop making Halo games as long as they keep selling.
