Removing the rate-post function?

I wasn't even arguing or being the least bit incendiary in those posts, if you have archives (which I doubt GB has set up) you can go back and look. I was trying to explain my positions to Chill as he sat there calling me a bitch and a nag, and utilized his 5+ alts to negatively rate me. Arguing was the farthest thing from my mind at that point.

That being said, this is yet another thread that has become absolutely useless until a Staff member decides to post and clear things up. Granted, my Pornography discussion was closed by Jeff last time and subsequently deleted with apparently no action being taken, so I don't have much faith in anything being done this time."

I use it, but i agree that its often used wrong. But its helped me a couple of times(like when that LJSsomething was posting all kinds of crap)

I don't understand the criticism. I really like the ratings tool, and as far as I have seen, it is misused very rarely. In fact, I wish more people would use it to nip trolling, spam and system wars in the bud. Because it has done that occasionally. It also keeps me from doing this - writing angry responses at offensive/agressive posts.
I would be very upset at seeing it go.

I could not care any less, because I reveal all the negative posts anyhow.

I agree with the people who say it should have a report post button instead. And instead of hiding down-rated posts, it should just auto-report a post that gets -8 rating or something. And instead of auto-hiding something, just give us the ability to hide whoever's posts we want for ourselves.

I've thought it was a pretty lame system since seeing Sentry's post get group-trolled by haters. Even his informative, relevant posts would get 5 or 6 minus ratings until they were hidden just because one or two people had a vendetta of some sort against him.

It isn't conducive to promoting discussion. Give us an option to hide posts on our end (an ignore button), but don't have this abusive system in place.

I actually love Internet Explorer. Telling people "if you don't like a major issue on this site, switch from the most popular browser. Otherwise, don't complain." is absolutely ridiculous. If a game crashes on the PC, but runs smoothly on a Mac, the developer doesnt say "get a Mac or stop complaining." This should either be fixed or removed. It's a real pain in the ass."

Holy shit look at this thread. I think there needs to be a mod history. Like the mods can see who does the pluses and minuses and if there is any misuse then the mods can pinpoint who the trolls are.
