I was addicted to Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, but really, who wasn't?

The original Tony Hawk was the next big one. My God, I must've rented it 10 times before I finally got it for my birthday, right when THPS 2 was being released on the PS1! Us N64 kids had to wait for the port.

Pokemon Blue then Gold. But my first full-blown, proper addiction was to Guild Wars. Over 3,000 hours into that.

Pokemon Red Version, it was like crack for seven year-olds.

Dragster for the Atari 2600. I played it over and over just to get a little faster, plus it was fun playing against my older brother.

First Pokemon Yellow, then CSS, then WOW, and more recently oblivion

Pokemon Red and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Dungeon Master for the Atari ST, I used to go over to my buddy's house and we'd play for hours. I don' t think I ever finished it, I remember a huge dragon but I don't think I ever beat it. I tried playing it via DosBox a couple years ago but it just wasn't the same.

Pokemon Blue

Not a particularly original choice, but Super Mario on the NES back in '86.  The first video game I played with an actual goal and not just racking up a high score.

I've only had two, true gaming addictions. Lost Planet Online and NBA 2K7. I ranked top five in NBA 2K7 for many months. I played a lot of ball and I would bet anyone here in a game of 2K7 if I still had my 360.

Edit: Super Punch Out, Cool Boarders 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and Call of Duty would be runner ups.

My first game addiction would have had to have been Donkey Kong :^) 

After reading the posts though, I feel rather old now :^(

I'll just do this in sort of cronilogical order.
Atari 2600: Plaque Attack
NES: MegaMan 3
Genesis: Sonic 2
N64: Goldeneye 007
PC Warcraft 1/Roller coster Tycoon/ Guildwars ( had about 3,150hours, which by MMO standards isn't a lot but still)

Now a days it's probably Rock Band/Guitar Hero cause a bunch of buddies play it so.

Serious Sam: The Second Encounter.  I have a pic confirming that I played 3846 hours of that game.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

The Secret of Monkey Island - the addiction beings again tomorrow...

contra for the NES. after that i would say world of warcraft and now i'm kind of addicted to counter strike source. i've been playing that since 06.

Not that I'm an extrovert but my socializing irl went bankrupt when Counterstrike Source came out. I've easily put in over 1000 hours with pubs, my clan, and some CAL. My longest gaming session was 13 hours. I only took bathroom breaks and my ass, pants, and chair were drenched with sweat.

I recall dedicating a whole summer (excluding football at that time), playing Diablo II and Lord of Destruction, and I was only eight. Hard to imagine that was eight years ago. Probably the only game I was seriously addicted to.

Civilization 2, quickly replaced by Civilization 3, namely due to it's two expansions which allowed online play.  Fuck, that game took my life away for a good five years.

Commander Keen! or perhaps Monster Bash. Good old days... sigh

I spent 4000 hours playing Halo 2. I wish I had some of that time back but I guess it is all under the bridge now.

Ocarina of Time. I played the shit out of that. Did almost everything.

gran turismo 2, i was like 10 and i thought it was so awesome i could have a vector V12

I can't really say which game got me addicted first.

But the worst addiction to a game i've had must be Dark Age of Camelot (An MMO by Mythic) i think that game is about 9 years old and it never gets boring.

Goldeneye on N64...

Multiplayer in the dorm lounge... 'nuff said.

metal gear solid for the PS1... i have dedicated an unimaginable amount of time with the game.

Starcraft and counter strike 1.2. insane bunny jumping with AWP ftw!

Probably Runescape (back when I wasn't a gamer)... but that's not really a real game. Maybe... Blitz The League...

Perfect Dark for the n64

Devil May Cry 3. I loved that game so much. I played it non-stop just to get all the new skills and stuff.

The game that got me first addicted, I think, was Age of Empires or Total Annihilation. And then SimCity 3000. But that was ridiculous. I had lunch, played a bit of SimCity and then it was dinner time. It was like time got fast forward 16x. A similar experience was playing Civ 4. It was a time-consuming game. Most recent addiction was Call of Duty 4. Insane 2 months. There was a day that I played the game start to finish 2 times.

But the games that got me addicted for a longer period of time (from release date until now) were Freelancer (this game is awesome) and GTA: Vice City (Mr. Vercetti is the da Boss).

I was thinking about this one and i was going to say megaman for the NES... but then i remember when Solider Of Fortune 2 came out... Dang did i ever waste my life in those servers. For six years I playied that damn game none stop and still going...

Donkey Kong Country for the SNES, and Pokemon Yellow

I'd have to say Pokemon Red.

The only thing capable of dragging me away from Goldeneye was Ocarina. Don't make me choose!

However, after consideration, I must admit that X-Wing on PC beats Goldeneye by a few years...

Well, now that I think about it Rollercoaster Tycoon was a big habit for me. I don't know which came first :D. 
 
And no specific game but I've beat all the good Mega Man games (1-6, X-X6) atleast 3 times each, all upgrades and all hearts for every single playthrough, well for the X games atleast. 
 
Then there's World of Warcraft, I think I played that game regularly from 2006 to about 4 months ago. 

Probably Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Counter-Strike.  I had 3 hour game sessions (at the very least) that went on for 3 years straight.
