Figure out how much your game collection costs all together (according to the price you originally bought each game at.)

Mines like 800 to 1200 Us dollars i'd say,

Dont turn this into some stupid 1 up contest please... also if your collection goes into millions im going to assume your either Will Wright or jeff so keep it serious in that respect. And No Word 2007 is not a game.

Oh, I have no idea. I have about 150 PS2 games, 50 PS1 games, 15 360 games, 40 PC games and a few NES and GB games stored around somewhere. If we say each game averages 40 bucks(would be more since I live in Europe), and I have at least 250 games, I'd say $ 10 000, at least.

There's no way I'd be able to calculate it. I assume most people would be the same way.
I could just go by GameSpot's estimate of my collection, but that assumes that every game I own is worth $19.99 which is obviously not true.

hmm. Very embarrassing indeed.  With all my systems, modern games, an old-school junk in the garage I'm going to have to say my "collection" is up to $6,000 re-sale value. I don't own anything specifically valuable. But I do have some gems like a Vectrex and a Channel F. I couldn't resist picking those up when Isaw them in the wild. I don't know if we're counting PC's.

It depends on if you count what I still own and what I've bought and received over the last 25 years of gaming.  My collection is worth nowhere near what I originally bought it for too.

I'll attempt to do a rough estimate, I'd guess I spent around $25,000 on games over the years.

Well, prolly at an average price of $45 about $9,000-$10,000 over the past 15 or so years.

I would normally never link to gamespot, but this is the easiest way to figure out the worth of your collection

Well, assuming an average of $50 for last gen games, $35 for DS, $40 for PSP, and $60 for current gen about...$12,000. This isn't counting all of the money I've spent on map packs, XBLA and PSN games, and various other digital things. Just solid physical items.

I honestly don't feel like putting in the effort to do that for all my games. I have hundreds upon hudreds of games in the garage for all sytems dating back to the Atari 2600.

For my brains sake, I'll just go with current gen. $430 in Wii games, $320 in 360 games, $1560 in PS3 games, $70 in DS games, and $225 in PSP games. Grand total of $2605. And that figure does not include tax.

Very hard to say... IIRC, my GameSpot account said my collection was worth $8k+ before I cleared out my account, but that was back in 2007 and was based on their market value at the time and not the price I bought them at. I'd say $10k at least and own about 300 games.

360: $420.00

Gamecube: $250.00
PSP: $160.00
PC: $90.00
PS1: $240.00
Xbox: $50.00

Total = $1,285

I sold a lot of my games though, but this is the rough estimate of all my gaming purchases in the last 7 years or so.

I own more than 300 games, from Commodore 64 era to PS3 and X360, and according to Gamespot's calculations the value of 300 of them is $6.000, but this number has nothing to do with the real amount of money spent on these games. Roughly I would say that the two thirds of my collection are games that I bought at a reduced price, an average amount of €30-35. The other one third are games that I bought them either at a really low price €10-15, or at a very high price €50 or 60!. Of course theese calculations aren't so much accurate because half of my games were bought with the old national currency before the arrival of Euro. Very confusing...
Anyway if I multiply 300 games with an average price of €30 each, then the result is €9.000, or $11.700. Let's say over than $12.000, because I own about 20-30 more, than these 300 games, which were published by not so known companies and they are not listed at all in GameSpot's records.

About 15 PS3 titles, 30 PS2, 25 PS1, 5 GameCube, 5 DS, 5 PSP, bunch of PC titles. With more coming; retail value probably $2000 USD or so. Aftermarket value, i duno give or take a few bucks some games go up in value, some go down. Think my gamespot said like 1700 or so; but I got lazy and stopped updating it regularly whenever i purchased something new.

According to Gamespot my current list of games (doesn't actually have all of my games) is worth only $5,757.12 at this time.

If I were to guess how much it's actually cost me I'll just multiply the current amount on that list by a guessed average cost of $40 (some cost $10, some cost up to $70).

So, following that, my current recorded collection is worth: 288 * 40 = $11,520.

Bear in mind that not all of my games (SNES and Genesis, specifically) are listed so this number could actually be higher, but this is a close enough estimate for the purposes of this thread.

In conclusion:

Current Estimated Worth: $5,757.12
Estimated Cost: $11,520

Edit: This is only the cost of the games. This doesn't include PC construction/upkeep costs or the cost of consoles/peripherals.

I keep my collection smallish and sell off old games, so right now I probably own about $500 worth of games, maybe a little less.

Most of us are just guessing.  There's no factual way I could even get close to knowing how much I've spent on games.  I was estimating a bit more last night and including console hardware and all my PC gaming, I think my total is actually closer to $40K over the years...
