I've said it before, and I'll say it again: you can hate all you want on Fred Durst, but don't hate on the other guys. Each of them are incredibly well-versed musicians that KNOW their instrument. Anyone who has never listened to Wes' other projects (Big Dumb Face, Goatslayer, The Damning Well, Black Light Burns), I would suggest checking them out before talking shit. The same goes for Sam Rivers, John Otto, and DJ Lethal.
Who cares if they were rap rock? People LOVE Beastie Boys, and they did rap rock. Limp Bizkit did the same thing. The problem is that Fred lost his flow after Three Dollar Bill Y'all. He let the fame and the recognition go to his stupid head. The red cap became something that I hated to see, and their music just got to the point of being too clean. Three Dollar Bill Y'all was dirty and raw.
The last album they did was too much like Rage Against The Machine for me to care much, but Wes showed some good chops on there. He has a good sense of rhythm and timing, and Otto + Rivers = an excellent backend.
I'm interested in hearing what they've got. If it goes back to 3$B, then I'll be happy.
