When I chose it I was really into the anime Full Metal Panic. And the bonta kun in my avatar is from that show. And it just kinda stuck. People like it. I like it. It looks menacing, but in a cute & cuddly way.
Mine is a Gamerpic from some pack in the Konsole Kingz set. I have no idea which one, and I have no idea why I picked this particular image. I might change it again, and I might not. Depends if I feel like it. :)
I think Mumbo Jumbo is a pretty awesome guy. This was only meant to be a temporary avatar until I found one I liked more, but I ended up keeping it for quite a while and at this point I'm sure I'm already pretty heavily associated with it here at Giantbomb, so I'm keeping it.

Wait, so when was using the term "lol" not a "nerdy" thing to do? Considering just using a computer was considered being "nerdy" up to and well after "lol" first surfaced back on Usenet (which knowing that probably makes me a super-nerd), I'm not sure there ever was a time saying "lol" wasn't something you could be given a "nerd badge" for doing by those who didn't use it (or understand what it meant).
Embrace your inner nerd, don't shy away from it! :P (Hmm, are emoticons nerdy?) Besides, basing what you say or avoid saying on the opinions of the judgmental few is silly. Oh noes (shit, that's prolly nerdy to say, too!), the "cool kids" are gonna scoff and turn their noses up at me for saying "lol", now I have no chance of getting into their social circles! Dammit all to hell!
*ahems* Sorry bout that tangent, but yeah... as if "lol" was ever something socially acceptable by the "mainstream". LOL!!
As for my icon... Coincidentally, I just changed it last night. It's a crop of the most gorgeous Miku Hatsune image I've ever seen (not that I'm actually a fan of her's, but the picture is beautiful) and I figured it was time for an icon change. Actually, the idea that Miku Hatsune -- a virtual character -- held a live concert and it attracted an audience of 25,000 people is sort of disturbing, especially when said virtual character's "voice" hasn't made the leap out of the uncanny valley, yet.
Because there's little funnier than a frog plotting world domination. I suppose My Squishy would compete, but those belong to other artists and the frog was free domain.
I really don't know why. I couldn't think of anything else, I love playing the drums on Rock Band, and well, if I change it now, I may not be as noticeable. I'll probably change it soon though. Make it some Scribblenauts avatar.
I am a middle school teacher who teaches typing. I also dressed up as Mario for Halloween last year. Combining my love of games with my occupation, I thought it was appropriate.
