YouTube Launches Console Channel
A) Shamefully order food for delivery without having to exert the nominal amount of effort required to walk into the next room where my computer lives or, God forbid, talk to someone on the phone, or
B) Watch some funny YouTube clip. Did you see all those crazy New Yorkers that rode the subway with no pants on? THEY ARE SO FREE-SPIRITED AND NONCHALANT ABOUT THEIR BODIES AND CUH-RAY-ZAY!!!!!
Today YouTube has made funny-Internet-video-watching on your TV a little bit easier with a new channel that, despite the language on the official PlayStation.Blog that suggests some level of exclusivity, totally works with the browsers found on both the PlayStation 3 and the Wii. Though, truth be told, given the choice, I will always opt for the PS3. The remote makes text entry on the Wii easier, but the PS3 always seems better about rendering out web pages the way they were meant to be seen.
Either way, point your console browser of choice at http://www.youtube.com/tv/ and behold! Sure, you could watch YouTube videos on you consoles before this, though the new TV channel formats the navigation for the living room with a simpler interface and big-ass buttons, plus the ability to easily watch the videos in an almost-fullscreen format. The interface stuff definitely seems easier to use on a TV, though I was a little disappointed, if not entirely surprised, at how pixelated the actual videos looked when blown up. Apparently there's no support for the YouTube HD streams, though for what it's worth, this YouTube TV channel is technically a beta, so it's potentially something we could see in the near future.

Awesome, now I can see really crappy videos on my projector in really crappy quality. Thank you YouTube!
if there is no support yet for the hd streams, whats the point?TheIneffableBob said: "PS3 is too slow to play HD YouTube videos."
it plays the high quality vids on the playstation blog just fine, and i watched a couple different divx movies on it before as well. there is no reason it can't play hd youtube videos and load them at a decent rate. Duckbutter said: "Stage 6 was dope. lets have a moment of silence for it."
lol totally. ...
I'm still at a loss as to why the 360 doesn't have some form of IE included. It makes perfect sense to have it since they've got more experience with that than the other two, it is a Microsoft product, and it's one feature that the other two have that it does not.
I use the PS3 and Wii quite often for youtube surfing looking up old metal bands and tv shows when people come over. It's a great little feature that quite honestly gets more use out of either console than playing games on them.
Sometimes all I do is sit home and watch drum covers and solos on Youtube on my PS3. Some of my friends who come over occasionally love the Internet Browser feature. It's awesome to say the least.
The link doesn't seem to be working, and typing it into my browser only takes me to YouTube's normal homepage. They must have taken it down.
