LucasArts hinted earlier today at a new announcement for Monday via everyone's favourite news source, Twitter.
"Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!"
A few minutes later another tweet came through saying
"It is awesome news for our old school fans."
I don't know about you guys but if they announced a new Maniac Mansion game, I would shit bricks. Anyone else have any idea on what this could be? Grim Fandango? KOTOR?

LucasArts was founded by George Lucas in 1982 and had a hand in the release of over 125 games on almost all platforms until it was closed by its recent purchaser, Disney, in 2013.
Lucasarts to announce new game for an old franchise!
At least that's what I'm hoping. With the recent announcement of reviving Monkey Island, I hope Lucas Arts has something akin to what Square learned a few years back: That they are litterally sitting on a gold mine of titles that can be revived, and or remade. The Monkey Island remake is a step in the right direction. @NoDeath said:

" It's probably Star Wars: Battlefront 3... "I can only hope it's Battlefront 3, but I'm thinking it's not. Gladius would be cool though.
Grim Fandango's weak profits were the reason Lucasarts called it quits with their entire adventure game division, and making one without Tim Schafer right after everyone kisses his feet for Brutal Legend would not be a wise decision. It made more sense when they announced the since-canceled Full Throttle: Hell On Weels because, back then, he wasn't famous enough to get his name on the box art.
LOOM for the iPhone ! ! !
I doubt it'll be a classic adventure game. With Monkey Island Special Edition and Tales of Monkey Island, they are testing out the commercial viability of adventure games, so I can't see them doing another one until they've seen how these sell. So what does that leave? Star Wars.
Who considers Battlefront "old school"?
Almost definitely going to be one of their old adventure games, given the recent come back they've been having.
I don't see them remaking any more of them just yet either though, probably just re-releasing all of them on Steam.
Very unlikely to be a Telltale announcement - they tend to keep their releases fairly hidden until they are close to fruition, like Monkey Island.
Also very unlikely to be anything new to do with Grim Fandango, without Tim Schafer on board. I hope not, anyway.
My educated guess from being the classic lucasarts fanboy that I am is that it's either re-releases of old games or a new game in an old franchise.
If I had to take a guess at the latter, perhaps they are re-visiting Day of the Tentacle.
In any case, I'd certainly be interested in seeing how the current staff at LEC handles making a new adventure game. Very few of the old staff remain, but what I've heard from them lately shows there's a lot of love for those old games, so I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Just... hands off Grim Fandango.
My money is on the reissues of classic adventure games like Full Throttle, Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle & Grim Fandango...watch it be Rescue on Fractalus and Ballblazer, though.
Ballbazer for Iphone, yay!!!
Unlike the rest of you, I think it is going to be a Star Wars game, preferably Tie Fighter/X-Wing or Jedi Knight. Why? Because those things make money. Grim Fandango made like $3 and is responsible for LucasArts calling it quits on Adventure games for good. If it is not Star Wars, then I would guess another Maniac Mansion.
"not a bad shout at allAnnouncement in an hour, and I'm calling it:
"
Old Lucasarts games to be issued on Good Old Games.
Back-up guess: same, but on Steam.
Intriguing!
There are plenty of games I would like it to be. Tie Fighter / X Wing would be awesome but they haven't sold for years. Gladius would be cool but I don't think that sold either.
I could see them making another Republic Commando or Battlefront, but I wouldn't call them old skool.
Ok, I'm gonna guess it's Full Throttle related, whilst really hoping that it isn't...
My buddy just told me this,
stuartnewsom@lucasartsgames Maybe not something "new" specifically, but the re-release of older titles for digital download...

Sweet, Fate of Atlantis. That's one of my favorite games of all time.
I'm not really happy with this big announcement. I'm sure a lot of people are - just not me. I was hoping for a new game announcement, not some steam partership. Oh well, it is what it is.
Hmm... Might have to check out Fate of Atlantis. I've heard it's really good.
Hopefully they'll release they're other adventure games through Steam as well. It'd be really cool if they did.

It was pretty obvious, I'm not sure why anyone was expecting anything new, especially when they said it would be for old school fans.
Personally, I'm really happy to see a lot of these games being re-released, most of them are very rare. I'll likely end up getting most of them, sans the newer titles like Battlefront and Lego Indy.
