    Ketchup? Gerstmann is a barbarian.

If I have to have something on my steak (sometimes it's just better to have it sans sauces) I'll have something peppery.

Rare as hell with crushed black pepper if that. Ketchup is ... well just drink ketchup if you like it that much. Don't waste the steak.

Edit: Come to think of it, I'd put ketchup all over a bad steak. Perhaps Jeff just ain't had a good steak.

Ketchup is reserved for hot chips, sausage rolls and meat pies; that's the only use of it for me. I can't stand ketchup on steak.

    That is absolutely disgusting.

Ketchup is for french fries, hamburgers and hot dogs. And that's fucking it. No eggs or macaroni and cheese or any of that shit.

The reason you don't put ketchup on a steak is out of respect for the food. If you are eating a $20 filet mignon, you do not want to put ketchup from a bottle that cost $1 on it. Now if you made your own sauce that tasted similar to ketchup, it would not be as much of a sin, because you took the time to make it. If you are going to pay for expensive food, you better treat it with respect the way you cook it and eat it.

I put ketchup on my steak, the only other sauce I've tried is A1. And if I had to choose between the two I'd go for the ketchup.

    Ketchup is NOT for steak.

It's for fried potato products (fries & hashbrowns), hot dogs, and (scrambled) eggs.
Screw you ketchup-egg haters, ketchup is AWESOME on eggs (as is salsa).

    KETCHUP?!  ON A STEAK?!

Seriously, dood...what are you thinking?!  You need a good Worchestershire sauce.  At the very least, get a good molasses-based BBQ sauce for it.

But ketchup?  As an aficionado of the condiment, it does NOT go on a steak.  That's downright blasphemy to the cow!

Sure, ketchup probably tastes good and all...but it's not the BEST flavor you can get from your steak!

I don't like putting ketchup on fries let alone a steak!  A-1 is fine with me, a little Lea & Perrins works, too.  Maybe garlic butter if desperate.  But ketchup?  That's fucking inhumane!  Maybe some Heinz ketchup on eggs, but only complimented with some Frank's Red Hot.

And I apologize for all the product placements.

I use to put ketchup on eggs.

What do you people mean by "Ketchup on steak"? Do you mean literally smothered on top? The few times I've ate steak with ketchup it was on the side and I cut up pieces of the steak and dabbed it in the ketchup.

My family often freaks out at the foods I dip in ketchup. Steak probably isn't even close to the worst thing I've "ruined".

I don't put ketchup on my steak or have ketchup with a good pork chop. I only have ketchup with shittier bits of meat but for steak and pork chop you've got to just eat them on their own with a little seasoning.

No man, no. Steak sauce or BBQ sauce on steak, but not ketchup.
