@Apparatus_Unearth: I have always been interested in getting something like a Roku box ,. is it pretty cool? Not that it would be good use to me at the moment lol

Yeah, it's a typical media streaming box. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Giantbomb, Screened (RIP), all kinds of stuff. The usual stuff is on there, but so is some obscure stuff. Pretty cheap.

I'm a big fan of the Roku box. It's a cheap way to stream video to your TV. An obvious problem, however, is that you need to have content to stream and Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc... cost money. (There are a bunch of free channels, including a channel that lets you watch podcasts and a channel that lets you stream content from your PC via a free application, so you'll still have access to a ton of content in any case.)

The Giant Bomb channel is a convenient way to watch this site's content but it doesn't contain the full archive. There appears to be some kind of limitation on the number of files it will keep because as new videos are added, old ones are removed. Not a big deal if you just want to watch the latest videos but it can be a disappointing when you go searching for an old Quick Look or Endurance Run video and discover that it's been bumped.

Madden 2005 - I don't think it's a coincidence that the last time we got a great - not serviceable, not decent, not good - Madden game was the last year before EA acquired the exclusive license to make NFL games. Gameplay was outstanding and franchise mode was a blast. The minigames during training camp were a fun way to make you feel like you had some control over player development. I also lost 50 pounds while playing this game (I made myself ride a stationary bike to lose weight after I stopped playing football and decided I didn't want to be so heavy anymore - I played this game while riding to distract myself).

Mass Effect 2 - Prior to Mass Effect 2, I despised virtually all RPG's so this game, while great on its own merits, opened up a genre to me and therefore gets a spot in my top 3.

Skyrim - I gave this game a shot and ended up playing it for way too many hours. I hated Oblivion but, for some reason, Skyrim just clicked for me.

Honorable mentions: Super Mario World and MVP Baseball 2005.

Only way to pick a chair is to go to the store and sit in a bunch of them and see what you like best. A chair that's great for one person may be uncomfortable to another.

Not saying you should actually buy it from the store. Just take down the make and model and check prices online.

I haven't had a chance to watch this QL yet so can't give any specific criticism of this particular video but I will say that it's an extremely difficult task to try to talk about something in depth in real time while playing a game. I think that the best way this is handled is having someone else who has played the game or someone that is conversant about the game even if they haven't gotten to spend time with it yet sitting in and doing the vast majority of the talking while the person playing pretty much just plays and answers questions here and there during lulls in the action. The crew usually does a decent job when it comes to this stuff.

While I agree that a QL where they just look at the title screen, startup menus or server list for a while isn't particularly interesting, the in-game menu system and skill trees in some games are where you will be spending a decent amount of time making decisions that affect your game so I don't have a problem with a QL spending some time discussing those things.

I'd say that you should just invest in some cheap, small earbuds. When I was in college and had roommates, I listened to my iPod as I fell asleep because I need some noise (I don't like silence) but recognized that it'd be a dick move to leave the TV on or run a playlist through my laptop speakers if other people prefer total quiet. I also liked the privacy of earbuds since I could then listen to whatever I wanted and not be concerned about whether anybody else liked it.

When it comes to the ideal earbuds for falling asleep, I recommend iPod earbuds (the old kind, I haven't seen the new ones that come with the iPhone 5 yet). They're nice and small and don't go very deep into your ear so you don't have to worry about them jamming into your skull if you roll over.

I wouldn't mind if Yahtzee made a guest appearance on a Bombcast but I'm not sure how well it would go. Real time discussion and debate is a very different format from what he usually does. There are some strong personalities on the Bombcast so I could see certain crew members jumping all over something he says without giving him a chance to defend his point. I'm not saying they shouldn't call him out on things - because that's part of what makes the crew great is that they are quick to point out bullshit - but I'd just worry that the force and tone with which they do so might end any meaningful dialogue. If the crew is in a light-hearted, joking around mood it could be great. If they're feeling snippy, it could be a disaster.

I used Firefox when I was in college and Safari when I got a MacBook at the start of law school but I switched over to Chrome shortly after it came out. I use a lot of Google services (gmail, calendar, reader) to organize my life and I have an Android phone and tablet so I really like having all of my devices synced up to one another, especially now that Chrome for Android devices has really stepped up its game and lets you sync bookmarks and tabs.

I just can't take user review scores seriously. It's a shame because there are some users who take the time to write detailed and thoughtful reviews but their voices are drowned out by the wave of trolls that give a game a 1 because they just don't like the series or genre and probably haven't even tried the game they're rating and then the second wave of troll fighters who give it 10s to try to counteract the 1s.

I completely understand what the OP is saying but I tend to agree with the people who are saying that the random loot is basically the entire point of the game and you need the junk to make it exciting when you find something good.

I think that the real problem with the random drops in Borderlands 2 is that, while in most games of this type you'll just pick up the junk to sell, inventory space in Borderlands 2 is at a premium since you top out at 27 backpack slots and inventory management in this game just isn't great. I had been playing Torchlight for a few weeks before this game came out so I keep wishing I had a pet to bring my junk to town and sell it off for me.

As much as I hate to admit it since I'm not a big FPS fan, Modern Warfare is the game of this generation. Please note: I did not say the "best" game of this generation. Modern Warfare, for better or for worse, influenced more games this generation than any other which is why I think it has to get the nod.

When it comes to the best games of this generation, I'd probably say either Skyrim or Mass Effect 2. I pumped more time into those two games than any others this generation besides sports games. (I play sports games while riding a stationary bike - which I do for 45-60 minutes, three-four times per week so that time really adds up after awhile. I've tried other genres, but sports games - NCAA Football, Madden, NHL and FIFA - are the only ones that keep me occupied while riding. And very few sports games this generation outside of the NHL franchise really impressed me so I don't think I'd nominate any for game of the generation.)
