I recently bought and started playing through Dark Souls because of Vinny's feature. I am surprised how much fun and engaging this game is even though I'm not a very good gamer. I am enjoying exploring areas and the suspense of not knowing what's ahead, or if I should even be there at all. I have been playing through mostly blind, only occasionally seeing if I am underleveled for certain areas, and found I've wasted a lot of time in areas I shouldn't be in yet.
Do you feel that reading guides will take some of the magic away from the game? On the other hand, there are tons of details that I will miss if I don't read anything, plus the game does a poor job explaining things as it is. I'm sure it would be more rewarding if I beat it without help, if possible.

Disc is almost always going to be cheaper. So I'll be sticking to Disc. I'll be using digital for digital only games, PSN freebies and any particularly good sales, but I'll be sticking to disc in most cases where it's an option.
This. I am pretty behind when it comes to playing current releases, so I usually buy most games months later for less than $30 on Amazon. Digital prices do not drop nearly as fast as disc, if they drop at all. If they want people to buy digital, make it cheaper than disc.
That's cool, but I want P4 Golden on PS3. And more HD remasters of SMT games, because Persona 3 is the only one I've played. By the way, how do the Digital Devil Saga games compare to Persona? Are they worth picking up and digging out the old PS2?
@herbiebug: I played Chrono Trigger a couple of years ago and really liked it, but for some reason I stopped playing and never finished it. I was pretty far into it too. The only other JRPG I've played is Persona 3: FES, which I loved but felt was too long.
I used to not be into games as much as I am now, so I missed playing all the Final Fantasy games growing up. Hell, I didn't even know they existed when they came out. I know they are held in high regard, and are arguably the best JRPG franchise around. I feel that I should play at least one Final Fantasy game to see what the fuss is about, but i don't know if it is worth the time investment. I'm thinking of going with Final Fantasy VII since everyone seems to love it. Do the PS1 era Final Fantasy games still hold up? Which game do you recommend to a newcomer of the series? Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
Maybe Persona 5 takes place in different, real Japanese cities this time. It would definitely be more ambitious since P3 and P4 take place in only 1 city, and fitting for a next generation Persona. I'm hoping it's for PS3 though, it would be weird for them to skip the current generation.
I actually like Marcus Beer and enjoy his show. He usually tackles issues that are not in the best interest of gamers, and for the most part states his case well. However, I do think he went overboard on Fish and Blow even though he did have a point. I don't appreciate some of you in this thread calling everyone who follows him cum drinkers, and ignorant. I understand you may not like his delivery, but you can't say everything he says is without merit. Personally, I find his "annoyed gamer" rants entertaining, even if they are becoming a little tired.
