Top 100 games I can think of right now.

Not in any particular order, but the top ten is about right.

Forgive any bad punctuation, I'm generally terrible at it.

List items

  • For my money, it's the best RTS....well any of the trilogy of 2

  • Hands down THE best open world game, no contest. Hearts of Stone just makes it sweeter.

  • It feels like every Monhun game before this was a practice run. When a game changes a long-running series so much that it can never be the same? That's special.

  • Can't say this is the best, but it's where I finally knuckled down and put some work in. God bless this game for opening my eyes to E.Honda.

  • Team Ninja out Souls-ed a Souls game. Front to back amazing.

  • It's all about the summons man!

  • Obliterated the source material so well that there's no need to play the source anymore

  • Grand strategy and real time tactical warfare blend that made me sink down a long dark hole...

  • The best and oft forgotten of the ps2 platformers.

  • Open world? Not really.Story Driven? Sorta.. It's hard to classify this series. The mix of genres and the right touch of goofy made this the best in a stellar series.

  • I'm a sucker for monsters and old monster movies. Capcom fighting mechanics seal the deal.

  • Resi 4 may have changed the game but I think 5 expanded on it very well.

  • I love the dreary outlook and atmosphere of this. Fun stealth!

  • The game that showed old style CRPGs can still rock it with the best, putting most RPG battle systems to shame.

  • Blue bomber-'Nuff said.

  • I've got a very soft spot for the 1 man vs an army genre and Dynasty 4 is the first one I 100% maybe not be the best in series but it holds my heart.

  • The marriage of the what is arguably the two best action-puzzlers. Oh yea and online play. You don't even need to say "One more round" It's a given.

  • Ds1,DS3,Bloodborne or Demon's-Any one of them could be on here. An honest to god revolution in gaming.

  • X-com revived a dead and rotting franchise with Enemy unknown. The X-pac guaranteed a proper sequel.

  • A not so lost classic anymore, but a paragon in a genre that needs more love.

  • Alternate history and gameplay that differentiated itself enough to make people pay attention to Sega again.

  • All three games are ace. 3 stands a small amount above the other 2.

  • Who says there isn't a 3-d Castlevania worth playing?

  • To be honest it was this or symphony, Symphony lost only because of the lack of difficulty. Rondo has teeth (Pun not intended) and it's the better for it.

  • The story, the fighting and even just navigation was great.

  • Epic isn't a word with any meaning anymore really, that's a shame because this game deserves it. The music, the charming monsters and the battle system hold this up as one of the best J-RPGs.

  • Ya know, this could of been Tekken 7. Should have been actually, But this was the first 3-d fighter I had on PSX and man the hours I sunk if only for the laughable CG endings. oh yea...music is great...so is tekken force.

  • A game that knows it's stupid and revels in it. Come for the chuckles stay for the blistering fast rocket sliding gameplay.

  • Call me crazy but I think Way Forward is now one of the best platformer companies. The whole Shantae series (Barring the GBc) is a testament to the genre.

  • hehehe, yea Godzilla games are terrible. Hard to argue otherwise, but hot damn I love them.

  • Hold on...one more turn....almost done, just let me set the research.

  • this game was a true open world for me, Sure it's janky as hell but it shows promise.

  • Can honestly say this is the best Zelda game. Don't argue, you know I'm right.

  • Double Dash or 8? Double Dash or 8? Tough choice isn't it?

  • Don't need to do anything for 300 hours? Bingo! Got you covered.

  • No matter the platform you played on, you were happy with the guest character. Personally, I had GCN and PS2...so ya know, all good. Oh yea this put Soul Calibur up there with the big boys of the fighting genre.

  • Rockstar's best game. A well crafted character, an interesting open world and a reason to do things in it. Too bad that kid ruins it.

  • See number 39? yea it was tough. The connection ( no matter how loose) to Greek mythos puts this slightly over the edge. This game was breath taking, and still has enough punch to make you take notice.

  • The original character action game...well for all intents and purposes.

  • A series that re-invents itself for the better twice? That's a miracle. Hot damn is this game a miracle. Amazing writing, genuine fright and then white knuckle shooting.

  • Not the best objectivley when it comes to 3-d action platformers. There's something this game does in the margins though, The atmosphere, ALice herself or maybe the enviroments. Either way this game hasn't left my brain since I played it.

  • Dungeon crawling and loot sifting was a thing before Diablo 2, but after Diablo 2 it was never the same. Can pretty much take #43 and add that to this as well.

  • Wanna crawl a dungeon? Want to build a character and sort through loot? Boy howdy this game will suck you in. Oh and it being the first game I completed with my now wife doesn't hurt either.

  • Good luck buying a copy of this now, but whatever you have to do, you should play this. Unbalanced as all hell, but who cares it has a boat-load of characters and is so much fun.

  • The reason I bought an X-box. Hack and slash gameplay with just a touch of troop management and leveling.

  • This came near the end of PS2's life. Which was a shame since if it came earlier it might have gotten more notice. A fantastic RPG with a unique battle system and wonderful visuals. Tri-ace's best for me.

  • Think you're good? nah, you're a ninja dog! Anytime a game demands and then supports perfection it makes me all happy. Oh, and I hate this game.

  • Lucky!

  • Sports games are a wierd one for me, I like them but I rarely pay attention afterward. This was one that made me pay attention with it's goals for each character and fun arcadey Baseball.

  • Sadly this game is doomed to languid existence on the GCN. However it's story and unique mechanics like limb targeting and those great sanity effects make this worth buying a console.

  • Nintendo does nintendo horror. The gameplay is a bit clunky but like Ninty tends to do they come through in spades with the charm and fun.

  • Who's Tony hawk? The addition of a single mountain with multiple routes made replaying runs to find alternate paths a lot of fun, add in unlockables and you'll be hooked to tricks and sped runs.

  • Now this is an odd one isn't it? I love this game, the cheesy story the fun class switching and it's all around charm makes this another GCN title worth having.

  • It's amazing that in the crowded ps3/360/wii era a character stood out so much that she became an icon of sorts. Having balls-to-the-wall gameplay didn't hurt either.

  • Dead Space had a hefty amount of atmoshere and tense shooting. DS2 had those and explored Isaac as a character, putting it over the top. A horror must have.

  • Speaking of horror. It's odd that a game where you just move to the right and jump engendered so much love from me, maybe it was the bashing monster's head in with a 2X4.

  • My vote for the best Final Fantasy. The battle engine took a giant leap forward, The voice acting was good for the most part, and the story made me care.

  • It was this or Alien Soldier. this won only because of co-op. IF you don't know this game, for shame!

  • No really it's good, try it!

  • One of my favorite PS3 games. Sure it wasn't complex, but they knew what fans wanted and they went full bore, even gave a decent story!

  • Who cares if you think it looks like ass now a days. It's still fun as all hell.

  • hey look it's still fun as hell. I think the platforming here beats out nintendo's own offerings for this generation. One very good reason to own a Wii U.

  • Look at this guy, how can you not love him? Amazing music, great gothic atmosphere and Dan, good ol Dan!

  • This game made me care about Rayman, which with as bland as he is it's quite a feat. Very happy he got a renaissance.

  • Not quite as good as baseball, but one of the best golf games. The added sheen of the Mushroom kingdom just adds to it

  • It's tony hawk man. It created a genre all by itself. no need to say more.

  • Speaking of creating a genre. Playing this with a full house of people might just be one of the best ways to spend an evening.

  • Which can also be said of this! BOmberman is a game that begs to have poeple pick up a controller, even ones that don't play games. Fast, tense and the ability to punch the guy who just blew you up are all good reasons to play.

  • The last I played, so it wins. When you think about it, Pokemon might just be the greatest RPG series we have.

  • A series that sadly has become bloated with anime cliches and a billion sequels. This game however is great.

  • Hah, Seriously? Yup, I absolutely love this game non-ironicaly. The music is amazing(Like most Sunsoft) and those mazes scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • This was a budget title?! This came out of nowhere and had everyone talking about it. Unique gameplay and just plain fun.

  • Dynasty Warriors AND Dragon quest? Sign me up fast

  • I really don't know what to put here, this game blew me away. The quasi-stealth, the story and the white knuckle shooting....ahh it was amazing.

  • There are so many reasons this should be held in higher regard than it is. The mechanics playing into the story, the Little Sister area...it may not have had a twist but it didn't need one.

  • It's a shame the treatment Sparkster got. Sure it was a mascot platformer in a sea of spunky animal mascots, but Konami put their weight behind this one and it shows. Deserves to remembered....also he has a jetpack.

  • Leave it to blizzard to do it right when they do a shooter. This game was an obsession from the first hammer swing.

  • It has a downside of that for all practical purposes it's a mutliplayer game. Even with that it's a fantastic game. The gameplay is tense as hell, not knowing where or through what wall they would be coming. A well placed shot through a wall could change the whole match....Sooo good!

  • Not the most exciting of games, but a long running series that hits my strategy and history buttons everytime. Long live the Wei dynasty!

  • It was this or the Wii remake. I think this edges out just slightly, taking a solid mechanic and expanding on it is an underappreciated skill.

  • The game that showed how good a rogue-like could be. Infinitely replayable. With just enough unlocks and item synergy to keep you curious.

  • What can you say about kirby, let alone a collection of them. They prove that difficulty doesn't really matter when crafting a charming, fun game.

  • It may never get the respect it deserves when it comes to the FGC, but who cares? Being able to pummel your freinds with a large variety of mascot characters is just so good. All the little nods and trophies to the history of games is icing on a fine cake. Final Destination, no items? Pfft Yea right.

  • Sure it's a clone of other games, But it takes material I never thought I'd see in a game and brings it to life. Not always in the best of ways mind you, but it's unique setting makes it for me.

  • Wargaming at it's simplest and maybe finest

  • A RTS that distinguished itself with small unit command and a setting that you can just fall into.

  • The story wasn't the best, the combat was button smashy at best. So why is it here? The characters and the world, Final Fnatasy lives or dies on it's characters. This one has it in spades.

  • The reason I bought a X-box one. It didn't disappoint. The animation is uncomparable, the gameplay shows very little mercy and it's the better for it.

  • Even if the crossover-characters weren't here. the game still shines as great financial fun? It's oddly addictive, especially when played with friends.

  • Stands with Galaxy as the best of the Ninty 3-d platformers. The quick bite size levels and plethora of secrets put this at the top of an already A-list heap.

  • Simple yet fun battle system and about 15 shovel-fuls of charm make this standout of the N64 library still owrth playing today. Oh, and no stickers, no perspective swapping and no color splashing.

  • This is to me the quintessential Working designs game, Sure the save systems wonky, but you really don't care.Quasi-Tactical combat and fun characters paired with a decent story means it will never leave my heart. Oh and anime cutscenes back when they weren't everywhere helped too.

  • Criminally under-looked. Semi-Metroid gameplay and a world that just oozes gothic/demonic style.

  • Bowling?Baseball?Target shooting? Monkey Target? MOnkey racing? Billiards? OH yea and it's a hell of a dexterity challenge of a game.

  • Squad management with that NIS flair. Not talked about too often but deserves to be remembered.

  • NO really, play it. Now, it will blow your mind. Music-based shooting was never so fun

  • The game all action shooters will be judged by for years to come. Staying true to a long dead series, while still bringing something fresh is something to be applauded.

  • The first x-pac to this long lived game. This was the point where all the players realized just what Blizzard had in store. Oh boy was it good.

  • One of the few genuinely funny games. The battle system wasn't special but you played just to see the next outlandish thing.

  • The black sheep of Rpg sequels doesn't deserve the response it garners.

No level grinding, an intriguing time hopping story and a killer soundtrack that everyone should hear.
