GoG is online distribution done right nuff said. No DRM, easy updating, they even gave away fallout 1 for free last week. Forget about the specials too, the constantly run buy 2 get one frees and over all just have low prices from the get go. I think one time I got something like both icewind dales and both baldurs gates for like... 10 dollars? They even incorporate fan patches right off the bat and give 100% guarantee the game will run on any OS they list since they pre configure them to work on their end. Unlike Steam who makes you apply the fan patches and do all the configuration on old games.

Once GoG starts carrying more new games they will become a much bigger name.

Uh those briar heart chiefs because they attack fast enough that if I stand there and don't hit back they can eventually kill me. Otherwise pretty much no one. Giants hit hard but I regen/resist so much so quickly they don't attack fast enough to every take me out. Maybe a top tier ancient dragon? However they are just the scariest. In truth none of them are scary in the least cause I have to play god awful bad for any of them to have a pipe dream of killing me due to being so freakin op.

Absolutely not a requirement. The first game will only be mildly referenced at best. Other than some appreciation for recurring characters and a better understanding of why Geralt is where he is doing what he is doing at game start there is no real need.

This is going to be a game to look out for. Maybe the gameplay won't be the bomb, but the art direction, music, and likely over all world/story will be. It is basically a Miyazaki movie turned into a video game after all ;p.

Anyway my point is proven, Steamworks has more features and is better designed than anything involving GFWL, I don't actually care how they apply it to this game since I think it's one of the worst games to get critical appeal in years.

Wait a minute I want to be sure I understand this.... The game is shit and you think the devs are stupid. So why is it you give a flip if it is on steam or not? Meanwhile your point doesn't exist. Origin/GWFL etc either already have all of Steam's "features" or will have them soon.

What are the big problems with GFWL people have? I was going to ask on reddit when I saw this posted there, but I'm sure I'll get a more civilized response here.

Trust me, the responses here won't be more civil. It is popular to hate GFWL among pc nerds, that is about the only thing I can figure. For every person with a legit gripe like one of the posters above there is 100 people who have no more to add than "GFWL is shit! Just do an internet search for it and you will see!!!" You will get the same crap with Origin, another service I have never had an issue using other than the fact that it won't let you load a save of ME3 with DLC on it if you aren't online. Of course that is bad enough as is.

Well there's all the other benefits of Steamworks, like insane stat tracking, anti-cheating and matchmaking which would be a great PC exclusive feature for Dark Souls, it would fix that game's broken multiplayer at least.

Uh stat tracking doesn't make the game more fun for alot of people. Like me. Anti cheating in Dark Souls is a funny thing to say. Would you like to know how the games built in mechanics can allow you to do a backstab for over 30k damage? Steam isn't going to stop that. The game already has plenty of ways to cheat built into it in other words. Also why do people keep ignoring the fact that the Souls games use their own matchmaking system? You couldn't use the one on PSN or 360 so why do you think they would let you use the one on Steam?

The devs themselves have said a large part of the game is the atmosphere and the idea that you are alone. Voice coms, in game messaging, and easy match making are anathema to the very intent of From's design. So no, Steam "community" features aren't going to do crap for the game because it doesn't work that way. The consoles didn't limit the multiplayer of Dark and Demon's Souls. From Software did, by design.

Does this at all make sense? I'm mostly just tossing around ideas, but I think somewhere out there there is a fun game to be had where we're not all the world-saving hero.

You aren't really one in WoW either. It isn't your character who kills Deathwing, you just distract him until Thrall is ready to attack. You didn't kill Arthas, Tirion Fordring did it with Ashbringer you just weakened him a little. I can do this all day long too. The only MMO I can think of off the top of my head that legitimately lets you go out and do this bad ass thing without some NPC showing up to steal the glory is SWtOR. Truthfully how heroic can you even feel in a raid environment. It is you and 9+ other guys fighting normally 1 dude. That isn't very "heroic" and you definitely shouldn't feel like "you" are the one who saved the day in that situation.

That said there are games out there like this but they don't do well because the appeal of it is too niche. Most of us in real life are already ground pounders putting in a 9-5 at a boring job. Why would anyone want to play what they do all day long in an mmo?

Cloud saves?

Not sure cloud saves would even work considering the mechanics of the game. Also... there is this. So that isn't really a "steam" advantage.

Dark Souls PC port is being done by Hijinx Studios, who are responsible for the abomination that is Silent Hill HD collection...

Well this is good and bad news. Bad in that it doesn't look that hot for the PC port. Good in that it confirms From isn't doing it but they made the content. Meaning it basically locks all this stuff for being available on the consoles too.

All that said Sentai seems to have made this announcement and none of the actors are aware that they were cast,

http://www.animevice.com/news/questions-swirl-around-persona-4-the-animation-dub-updated/5978/

Damn those former interns actually doing real reporting

Yeap, the Crunchyroll news article where they covered the bases saying the original was in error even linked back to the Animevice article as a source of this news. Cool beans for them. Shitty beans for those who were happy to see the original cast confirmed. I think they also said Original Teddy VA is out as well because he is already busy with another job. Hopefully Chie's VA decides to do this one though instead of snubbing it like Arena. But then again I sort of like the replacement they got for Arena, she did pretty well as Erica in Catherine.
