What would you consider to be the Best Worst Game of All Time???

A frustrating pile of crap. We've all played a game in that category at some time or another. I've been pondering, what could possibly be the one game that I had high hopes for, but was let down because the game was (and I quote myself) a "frustrating pile of crap"? Here we go...

In recent releases, that game would have to be, Star Wars The Force Unleashed. I absolutely love Star Wars! But how could a game that sounded so awesome turn out to be so horrible? It had to have been the player strength to the cpu strength ratio. In that game I never felt like I was totally in control. I mean...come on! You play an Apprentice to the Dark Side, you have to be powerful! No matter how good or powerful I became, it never seemed enough because the CPU felt like they were always 3 steps ahead of me. Because of this I was so frustrated and quit about two-thirds of the way through the game and vowed to never play it again. Don't get me wrong, I love all types of games. And its hard for me to truly hate a game, but this one drove me insane. Oh Star Wars The Force Unleashed...you are the Achilles Heel to my love for video games. May I never see your face again...

So let me put it out there for you all:

What would you consider to be that one game that frustrated you so much that you just had to stop and decided to never play it again?

Call of Juarez: what a complete piece of Ubisoft shit, can't believe they're making a sequel.

Fallout 3: If you played role playing games from Black Isle and BIoware you can comprehend this.

I agree with Call of Juarez. That game was shit. But Fallout 3? That game IS the shit.

Army of Two. I read an interview in EGM about it, and it sounded amazing. The AI, the moves, the vehicles, the accessibility. The trailers I saw were like magic. Then the team scrapped everything that made it cool and it became just complete "bro." Ugh... why?

Call of Juarez wasn't that bad. The sneaking Billy stuff was bad, but the dual revolver gun toting Reverend was pretty rad.

Hm, that's an odd question. I'd say ET. Sure, it was crap, but it was possible to like it if you knew what the hell was going on. It was a piece of crap I could like.

Merc's 2. That game took all sorts of shit, but when I played through the entire thing on Xbox 360, I loved every minute of it.

Given that E.T. was so bad that the company pulled remaining copies and buried them in a fucking desert...

...I would say that you can easily find the winner on this.

As someone who has played games from Black Isle and BioWare. I don't get the "hate" on Fallout 3 that you are giving it. I LOVED Fallout 3 and thought it was very well done. I've got 60ish hours into it and I plan on logging more hours into it. It is a great game.

Elder Scrolls / Fallout (same game as far as I'm concerned)

People talk great things about it, "Oh I've put 100 hours into this awesome game." Well when I played it, it felt way too open, extremely boring and unsatisfying. Also the leveling system was a bitch.

Yeah, just because a game is frustrating doesn't make it bad. Take Burnout 3 for example. That game turns me into a monster but it's still a great game.

I was pumped for the DS remake of Final Fantasy III. What I got was a masochistic, grind happy, and overall boring experience that was bearly modernized from its NES counterpart.

I have never spoke more profanity than when I played Midnight Club 2.

You're weak  :p

The game is a tad difficult the first time around, but on the second play thru forward when you have a more defined style and some experience it becomes increasly easier and more satisfying.

That's a development decision, that will probably be also in Prototype.

But i respect your opinion... :)

My best worst game of all time i have to say it was... God of War.

What a button-masher...

I hated Kratos... a mude bald guy with a gotee in middle of greece... yeah wherever.

And the story was not all that impressive to me.

A definitly pass for me in the future.

hEdit: ohh totally jumped to conclusions tere. Damn. My bad.

Gotta be Vampire Rain. Man, easily one of the worst games around that is somewhat playable (things like ET for example I don't consider to even be basicly playable, and as such regard them as faulty pieces of software, not bad games) I managed to enjoy it, but only by playing it alongside watching a youtube walkthrough in order to be able to actually get past the tutorial mission. Fuck that game is aweful.

That's pretty much my choice as well. They got The Force Unleashed so wrong it was unbelievable. It's like they didn't read their own brief. It failed at everything they said was a goal.

Assassin's Creed.  The sequel is making a lot of people's most anticipated list, but the original had a lot of short comings primarily lack of diversity.  I hope there are more variables in the Assassin's 2, and I'm sure we'll know more by mid week.  Assassin's Creed 1, however, is a title full of potential that falls short and resides in mediocrity in my view.

I'm a little confused by the title for this thread. For me, "Best Worst" is a title that distinguishes something that is technically unimpressive but you love despite (or perhaps because of) its flaws.

Anyway, for me your style of game would probably be Perfect Dark Zero. The core gameplay was solid enough, though the guns lacked a certain tightness, but the level design was surprisingly linear and guided. The fact that guides would occasionally pop up on the floor to point you to your next destination without explanation made it all the more obvious. Furthermore, there were extended, clumsily executed "stealth portions," where you again were expected to perform in one perscribed method without fail. Even within the tight confine of a Splinter Cell game, you had options of how to approach a mission; PDZ's stealth sections were completely devoid of choices.

But the real issue I had with the single player game was the fact that there was a such a wealth of difference between the enemy AI and my partner's AI. Often times, I have to keep a supporting character alive, only for them to run straight into a gunfight they can't win, with me being forced to use the worst sniper rifle in the history of FPSs to cover them. Meanwhile, the bad guys are able to spot me behind pillars I'm taking cover in and get deplete my armor to nothing with a single headshot with their pea-shooter sidearm. It was again probably to disuade you from veering off the expecting path, but it was so punatitive and complete crushed any sense of innovation, which was a shame because the original Perfect Dark was all about using your gadgets in smart ways to clear complex, free-roaming levels.

In the end, I couldn't finish the single-player and relegated myself to the online multiplayer, which is actually surprisingly strong. It clears up most of the above issues (though the Sniper Rifle still blows while the rocket launcher is redicilously active with its "seek" mode) and features some multi-layered levels like the original game. I keep trying to go back and finish the single-player, if for Achievements alone, but all those old frustrations all come flooding back.

Burnout Paradise, it made me long for my Burnout: Revenge experience so much that I actually went out and bought Revenge again
