This is the wrong takeaway of course, but this makes me actually regret not playing it

You know what, this wasn't the response I intended, but it also is one I'm happy people are expressing. I really think there was something to Mobius more people should have been aware of, and I'm glad after publishing this blog, that there are some people who agree.

Personally I really have no excuse, I had it downloaded on Steam a few years ago. Just never got around to actually jumping in seriously

I tried to the tutorial once and had trouble getting it to run well and never went back. Always meant to, just never did

but yeah, fwiw I'm glad you wrote this up even if it makes me a little sad I didn't see it for myself.

Well the inclusion of live service games certainly changes where I fall in the spectrum, because I'll spend anywhere from 20-70% of my gaming time a week playing multiplayer stuff like PUBG

When it comes to single player games, I'm typically playing things that are usually nearly new but not "brand new"

and that's largely driven by price. I'm perfectly willing to wait for a AAA game to hit $20-30 bucks before buying it. I just don't get to them quickly enough to justify paying full freight.

Launch games are often expensive and retro games are often expensive-ish (or rarely go on sale). But stuff that's like 0.5-4 years old is often heavily marked down and that's my wheelhouse budget wise. E.g. been playing a lot of 2018 releases lately, that's kinda where I am at atm. They feel plenty new to me even when they aren't brand new.

I'll allow myself 1-3 launch purchases a year, so I'd say 80% of what I play SP is "old"

So with that in mind I hedged and put myself in the 40-60% category. in the poll.

He gives me the impression he has the suspicious monopoly on 'scoops'. Not that I'm sure what that means when it comes to this industry.

Schreier?

I think it's mainly because he's the first one who really tried. He's got an actual background in traditional journalism, 99% of Video game reporters don't have any.

I don't think he's perfect, I've disagreed his hot takes on many occasions. But many investigative journalists are kinda jerks. You pretty much gotta be if you are gonna dig up unpleasant truths

I also think if he wasn't doing this, it's quite possible nobody would. Even our ole' boy Scoops doesn't do nearly as much investigative reporting as Jason does.

I personally think Cecilia D'Anastasio's is putting out the best stuff atm, but I think Jason paved the way for her. He's shown that this kind of work is economically viable for game journalism outlets

@humanity: This is a very good thing

yeah the statement's perhaps not perfect, but they probably aren't native speakers some possibly don't know how "may" reads in this context.

And they did what really mattered they really listened and are willing to change and continue to change! I hope I handle any mistakes I make in life as well as they seem to have here

I believe their sincerity and believe the game will be better for it.

I can obviously see the tribal similarities but at what point is it offensive? I suppose at any?

Even if you don't understand why it's hurtful, I think the right thing to do is be considerate and listen when you see that it is hurting people. And that's what they did as far as I can see. Then go research on the topic to avoid future issues.

the real answer is both

I grew up renting games, it was fine and makes sense for a lot of things. Makes it a lot easier to give new things a try. I view subscriptions services as the current era's version of Blockbuster, gamefly etc

Just always give me an option to buy if I want to keep it and we're good.

  • By ratio, Black people interact with cops a much larger amount than any other group. This is due to criminal activity.

That just ain't true.

It's due to racist profiling and unjust unequal treatment.

That's what this is all about man, it's not just because George Floyd was murdered. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. It's because black people are treated in tons of interaction with the police fundamentally differently than white people. It's about being treated like a suspect always, about being harassed when you are minding your own business, about being stalked, being abused, being setup and yes being murdered and having the perps get away with it 99%+ of the time.

did you not just read what was posted earlier today?

https://www.giantbomb.com/forums/bombcast-32/thank-you-giant-bomb-team-tuesday-pause-1882398/

there's an example right there in the OP

Actions speak louder than words @soego. You have nice words about caring about racial injustice and actions proving you will defend Police.

You also chose to drop this verbal grenade in the forums instead of privately communicating it to staff whilst abandoning the thread and all responsibility for what you left behind immediately.

With that in mind, it's hard for me to believe you mean what you say about reform.

I don't know you, all I can know is what've you've shown us in your brief interactions here. All I can say is I hope you act on what've you said about racial injustice. If you mean it, at least put your money where your mouth is.

I figure you've got at least $60 to spare now. I hope you give it to BLM
