Even I thought it was coming for sure this time. But silly old me.....
Yeah, and what the HELL was so HARD about developing a good duke nukem game, anyway?? All,they had to do was make a decent first person shooter with good graphics,A.I ,cheesy one liners, some aliens and strippers wrapped in a completely over the top package with some decent multiplayer.
Something that most of which a new game does every week........

It still pretty much says "3D Realms is fucked, but since we own the publishing rights, we can make another game out of this.". The funny thing is that George broussard will get away with this, he'll say something like "We were about to make the most awesome game ever, but recession hit and our studio dissolved and blah blah blah."

Think about this: George broussard gets away.

Well, at least this ends the whole 12 year long "duke nukem forever" saga. Now we KNOW  for sure that it's not coming out.....EVER. Not even in another 12 years.....
Sad end for the duke.I was really sure this time was it  when I saw the 2007 teaser.

At this rate, It seems like I've been exclusively spending my money on capcom this generation of console gaming: dead rising , RE4 wii edition , Lost planet , Okami wii (never played the ps2 one so i had to get it) ,DMC 4 ,SF4 ,SF2THD,RE5 ,Mega man 9  and I'm pretty sure i'm going to buy Dark void too......

I didn't play BC:Rearmed, though i'm sure it was great.

I think Mercenaries is basically Horde mode, just with a time limit.  They should put something in like a 'separate ways' type mode featuring a brand new story featuring wesker and how he got uroboros and met excella etc. etc.

It's all right. It's a bit easier than gears of war on hardcore for the first half, but it becomes slightly tougher later on with those machine gun/gatling gun majinis later on. Still ain't no situation an upgraded magnum can't get you out of. Also upgrade another weapon with it (preferebly shotgun) and you'll be on your way even playing by yourself.

"- If Sheva was there to receive Chris at the beginning and say "Welcome to Africa", why didn't she notice all the strange things happening around her before the game started?- At some point she refers to the zombies as "her people". I suppose she is from the same country as them. Wouldn't she notice the animals slaughtered in the middle of the streets or internal organs and rotten stuff around? If they were infected wouldn't they attack her?- At some point one of the enemies injects himself with the virus and become a monster, but he doesn't lose his intelligence in the process. Now imagine an alternate reality where he actually manages to kill Chris and Sheva. What would he do for the rest of his life? Live like a sea monster? The game is good, but I have gotten the felling throughout the game that they were just adding things so it would "look good" and don't really make any sense. This game looks like Gears of Evil 4.5 HD remix, seriously. It is good, but I remember having more enjoyment with Resident Evil 4."
I think you're absolutely right. For all the graphical power in the world ,this game isn't inspired enough. With RE4 ,One minute i was throwing a spear in to a sea creatures face, and another i was running away from a 80 feet tall statue of a kid dressed as napoleon and then another, I was dodging lasers and somewhere in between I was looking up ashley's skir..........oh well nevermind.
All I do in RE5 is shoot some zombies, then shoot some more and then shoot a boss with BIG RED WEAK POINTS, and then shoot some zombies and then shoot some more and then shoot another boss with BIG RED WEAK POINTS. All in the while I'm constantly struggling with the new inventory system.....
I put in a similar post here:
http://www.giantbomb.com/resident-evil-5/61-20569/did-you-guys-miss-mikami-san-while-playing-re5/35-238329/#1

I Guess RE just isn't the same without mikami.....

Ever since i bought it, I have played RE5 over and over and I do think its a great game and co-op is implemented as well as it can be.I however,do miss the inspired edge shiniji mikami bought to his games, especially RE 4 and the REmake.

I mean it looks as great a game ever has, and the first couple of hours in the shanty town and the african savanna are great but then it takes a HUGE downturn and explores caves, mine shafts, the same boring top secret labs and missile bases we have seen in countless other games. It just dosen't feel right. Also the easter eggs are considerably less and those levels in the mayan tombs with puzzle solving just put me out of the game for a while.
QTE's are significantly less and with the exception of the zombie biker assault cutscene and the fight with wesker, most are forgettable. Nothing in this game even holds a candle to leon and krauser bantering and slating each other while locked in a life-or-death knife duel. I'm here to tell you, that stuff was legendary.

Boss fights are great, but the ones in RE 4 were just off the wall crazy and some of the most unforgettable: The del lago , el gigante, jack freakin' krauser , that bastard advanced licker that scared the bejesus out of me etc. etc.

Most of what RE5 has to offer are big insectoid creatures, with big red weak points with no interactive QTE'S which could have allowed either of the partners to climb up and chain some cool knife shots.

Also the surrealistic david lynch-esque (to a degree) atmosphere is missed, creepy villagers coming at me with pitch forks?.check. Twin sisters with chainsaws and scarred faces charging at me?.check. A creepy albino kid in a napoleon suit?. Check. A giant 80 foot statue of that creepy kid chasing me and me running for my life? .Checkity-check-check. That fucking regenerator?.Checkity-check-checkity-check. All the while being able to look up the skirt of a spoiled president's daughter only to be called a pervert?.You see where I'm going with this.

I mean most games have blood and gore and crazy creatures but the RE series has been on crack ever since it's inception.  Remember Cheif Brian Irons from RE2 and that bloody huge snake from RE1/REmake?. I will remember them for as long as I live.

Here's where RE 5  falters, it's too prim and proper, chris redfield looks and dresses like a commando/bald space marine archetype and prefers to yell out "come on!!" "Copy that!!" ,"Are you ok!!" . I'd rather have the backstreet boy from RE4 who flirts with the ladies while killing horrible monsters(Another mikami handiwork).  Also , I thought their characterization of albert wesker was just WRONG.They made him an oversexed /metrosexual psychopath who dresses like he's in the matrix. Whereas he's always been this calm, collected ,yet omnipresent and dangerously unprdictable entity who would just jump out of nowhere and stab you in the back and reveal that he hs been 10 steps ahead all the time......

But that's just me. Still, I really like RE5, I've been compulsively plaing it off and on and having a blast. But there's a serious difference between really liking and pumping your fists with enthusiasm and cheering it  while playing throughout the night like I did with RE4.

What do you people think???

Yeah I have one: Spam down forward+ kick again and again. Chun li will just jump over your opponent to the other side and then you can hit him or spam the move again to jump back. It's very responsive so spam as fast as you can Even good players become confused for a while . Plus if you deliver about 4-5 in quick succesion, its easy to stun.

Go try it.
