R:FoM "used to be" a good game. 0

This game is one of my favorite FPS games. Nathan Hale is my favorite character in this game because he plays a major part of the story. The chimera race comes to invade the region of Europe, spreading around the world from there. Nathan Hale and his squad is trying to stop the chimeras from taking over the world but throughout the game, Hale is half-chimera and half-human. However, the chimera part gets worse as the story goes.. it's spreading like a virus and gets the worse out of Hale. H...

Mediocre story, but solid AI makes a fun challenge throughout. 0

Looks can be deceiving when it comes to the PS3's launch "killer app." At first glance, Resistance looks like a fairly run-of-the-mill space marine shooter with lackluster graphics and a forgettable story. But what emerges (quickly) is an extremely challenging FPS that keeps you engaged not through pretty environments or a riveting plot, but tough fights that often require multiple attempts and different methods of attack to figure out how to survive. The "easy" difficulty is no safe haven -- ...

An old but acceptable and fun title which is well worth a look. 0

It's currently 2010, and one might be forgiven for thinking that it’s a peculiar time to still be playing Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance was a launch title for the PlayStation 3 in 2006 and it shows, which is a nice way of putting it. But chief of my concerns is whether or not a game is fun and enjoyable, and whether or not a game facilitates fun through its aesthetic and its gameplay. Despite Resistance’s age, it still manages to communicate that important three letter word. Even with eve...

Provides an ultimately solid experience. 0

Resistance: Fall of Man is essentially a science-fiction shooter; developed by Insomniac games (the guys that brought you the ever-popular ratchet and Clank series). The game had a big responsibility on its shoulders from the get-go, not only was it one of only a few launch titles Sony were hoping would sell their hardware but it was also expected to fill the void that Killzone’s delay had left behind. Based in an alternate 20th century you take the role of the intrepid Sgt Nathan Hale – part of...

Great game for being 3 years old... 0

Well to start off I did not buy this game on launch day, I've had my PS3 for almost 2 years now when I decided to pick up this game... I bought it last year when I saw Resistance 2 came out and thought to myself, well if this game warranted a sequel then I should probably try it out... and I decided to try and play some new original IPs since I am stuck loving only the ones I grew up playing: Zelda, Mario, Metal Gear, etc... all of the ones from previous generations before PS2 except for God of...

very enjoyable 0

With its solid story line good and the excellent game play will make you feel as though you have stepped into your characters shoes this game is a must buy for anyone looking for a solid FPS. The game's scope is huge and in certain set pieces you can see hundreds of enemies and allies battle it out in huge detailed environments. It also offers tonnes of weaponry and grenades and the action will keep you on your toes. The A.I. especially in the harder difficulties is a lot of fun to play it and ...

Good first attempt 0

The hyped up title that came out with the Playstation 3. It was ramped up as being the only title to play on Day 1 and it mostly delivers. The graphics were good then but they were not as rival titles on the Xbox 360(Resistance 2 looks to change that). It runs smooth, but when you get up close to objects the textures look like PS2 games. This game does boast a VERY long campaign( especially for a shooter) and is a blast playing Cooperative with a friend, though it suffers that this co-op is offlin...

Finally a WW2 shooter I can enjoy 0

I have to admit it: I'm an Insomniac fanboy. I played every single Ratchet & Clank game (except the PS3 one) and loved them. So when I first learned about Resistance: Fall of Man it was clear to me, that I eventually had to have it. Now that I finally have a PS3, Resistance was the first game (not bundled with the system) that I got.I guess you can describe the game as a mix of Doom/Quake, Ratchet & Clank and Call of Duty. It takes the WWII-like setting of Call of Duty, the weapons-syste...

A war you wish had changed 0

Some developers tend to have excellent track records with nary a misstep in their portfolio while others release average games then put out a huge titanic megahit the following year. Insomniac is not victim to this because you can't really say outright that there's been one bad game that they've made; sure some may not be your taste but they're far from terrible. That said, nostalgia and time doesn't always equal fuzzy memories and what was once enjoyable becomes frustrating, exciting becomes te...

A generic FPS game with some good ideas. 0

Resistance is an interesting FPS game with some good ideas but the execution is a bit uneven. I was excited to try out Sony's potential killer app but it seems maybe my expectations were too high. The first thing you'll notice are the graphics. While sharp and solid, the art direction is fairly generic. The majority of the game is very reminiscent of other WW2 shooters such as Medal of Honor and Call of Duty. There are a lot of browns and greens throughout the game except for a couple of chapte...

Not a fan of PS3 games, but this is good! 0

PS3'S DEFINING FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER? When the Playstation 3 launched on November 17, 2006, one of the most anticipated titles to be released exclusively alongside Sony's third console was Insomniac's Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance: Fall of Man's story is set in an alternate reality... a world where World War II never took place. Instead, an alien race known as the Chimera mysteriously appear and attempt to wipe out the entire human race. You will assume the role of Nathan Hale, an Americ...

Fun game from the makers of Spyro 0

I really like Insomniac as a developer. The Spyro games were a cornerstone of my childhood and the Ratchet and Clank games have always been solid as well. Resistance was the first ever game I owned for the Playstation 3 and wow, the graphics and physics of this game are stunning. However, as the box art suggests the whole thing is a very drab grey and brown which gets a bit sickly after a while. The best part of this game is the weapons, though, and that's why I'd recommend it to anyone looking ...

Resistance is a Good Shooter with a Few Flaws 0

Having recently played a few games with which I was a little underwhelmed, I found myself looking more and more for a title to not take itself overly seriously; have lengthy, unnecessary dialogue or cutscenes; terrible, outdated play control; etc. Resistance: Fall of man is none of these. The storyline involves the protagonist, Nathan Hale, who through a turn of events finds himself smack dab in the middle the Chimeran invasion. Set shortly after the second World War, Resistance takes an alternat...

Hard to give it perfect scores like a lot of other people have. 0

This game feels very generic when you play it. The sound effects are not exactly perfect but it goes well with the games development. Overall this game runs well online with the multiplayer but there should have been better matchmaking and lobby set-ups. I was very hyped up for the game when it came out, but long loading times, graphics that look dated, and not all the weapons being original keep this score down. I have played through the story and the game leaves you hanging like I was expe...

A mundane shooter with an awesome collection of weapons 0

The standards for first person shooters are incredibly high nowadays. The genre has had many outstanding entries in the past seven years. Games like F.E.A.R., Rainbow Six: Vegas, Crysis, Half-Life 2, Call of Duty 4, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. have advanced first person shooters with breakthroughs in AI, physics, tactical firefights, and level design. As a result, games that would have been great five years ago have become somewhat mundane. This brings us to "Resistance: Fall of Man", the flagship launch...

Must own PS3 game!!! 0

Resistance: Fall of Man is a first-person shooter set in an alternative history, in which World War 2 doesn't happen. An alien race called the Chimera has taken over most of Europe, leaving England to fight by themselves. You'll play through the game as a U.S. Army Sergeant named Nathan Hale. Resistance combines a good story with much better gun-play that will have you at the edge of your seat. The story is interesting and has several twists and turns. That being said you'll have to shoot...a lo...

Resistance is a great shooter, but doesn't reward well. 0

Resistance is the FPS launch title for the PS3 by Insomniac. You've read all the nice reviews about it, and rightfully so. However they fail to touch on these particular things: although you've defeated the game with great weapon selections, brilliantly designs levels, advanced A.I and trial and error, you won't be rewarded with something that'll draw you back to the game-- at least as far as the campaign mode is concerned. Skill points amount to Concept Art Packs and MP skins...which doesn't me...

Resistance was the game that launched the Playstation3 0

When people left there homes to go to the shops to buy themselves a shiny new ps3 instead of a second house, they had only one game in mind; Resistance Fall of Man. When people thought of ps3's they thought of Resistence Fall of Man, it was as much a part of the launch as the system was itself. The Single-Player campaign nis just the right length and there is a distinguishable differnece between the levels of difficulty so you will never feel that the game is just too hard and it's easy to find ...

More like a setup for what "could" be done than actually is. 0

I got a ps3 recently and as any wise sagelike gamer, (me!) I decided not to rush into what's 59.99 right away. So In my usual pattern of game buying I went for some of the older or we can say Classic releases on the PS3. I remember Resistance from it's launch day release and wanted to check it out from that moment onward. So I did! It's more a game based around what could be done in the next game but it was worth the time spent. So Away we go!Good: This game could no...

Resistance: Fall of Man Review 0

Resistance: Fall of Man was one of the first FPS games for the PS3 released. It basically gave you a slightly different twist around the World War II era. You are going to be playing a character that gets infected by a "virus", but yet doesn't have all the regular symtoms that most others experience. You will be left on your own from time to time fighting off mutated soldiers, and using an array of weapons. The graphics in this game are what you would expect from a PS3 game, and the environments ...

Not bad at all. 0

Resistance: Fall of Man is the standout Ps3 launch title. Of the somewhat disappointing group, it is by far the best. It doesn't just happen to be the best of the worst, but it also happens to be a completely enjoyable shooter, that will be remembered as one of Sony's flagship franchises from now on. The story takes place in an alternate setting 1951, where WWII never happened, and instead, a mysterious force known as the Chimera ravages its way through Europe. In the ruins of England, US and B...

Good for 2006, less so for 2010 0

Made in 2006 this is a pretty old game that holds up rather well, but still shows its age. It’s a pre-Modern Warfare first person shooter, so it lacks the “auto lock” style zoom feature that has become prevelant these days and uses the traditional “shooting from the hip” Halo style of combat. That in and of itself is by no means a bad thing. I couldn’t help but feel that if I’d played this game earlier I would’ve had a greater appreciation of it, but I suppose the passage of time and the prevalen...

I am definitely looking forward to playing Resistance 2 now. 0

If you are looking for a first person shooter with all kinds of cool weapons, then this is the game for you. Both Chimera and Human weapons in this game are all fun to use. Insomniac did a very good job on the designs of the Chimera, some of them are annoying and some of them are hard. This game is also fairly long so you will have plenty of time to use the large selection of weapons. After you beat the single player story mode there is fun to be had in the multiplayer on-line mode, with up to 4...

Unique Weapons + Awesome Setting + Good Controls = Win 0

Resistance: Fall of Man is a first person shooter developed by Insomniac, the same company that brought you the Ratchet and Clank series. Resistance takes place in an alternate reality during the 1950’s in which WWII never happened. Instead, an alien race known as the Chimera have invaded Europe. Russia is the first to fall and pretty soon most of Europe is gone. The UK is the last to fall and is pretty much where the game comes in. You play as Nathan Hale, a US soldier sent over to Europe ...

D-Day has come, but the enemy has changed 0

Resistance is a game made by Insomniac, a developer best knowned for its high rating series Ratchet and Clank. The game started with a simple idea, make a WWII game but change the story a bit. This derived in a new game, situated in the 50s in a world that instead of having Hittler as the main enemy, has a monster like race, called Chimeras. At first, Chimeras appeared in Russia, then, they expanded, they conquered Europe in a matter of months and were starting to invade Britain when the US gov...

Like FPS? then you'll love resistance! 0

Resistance was one of the lauch titles for the PS3 in 2006, and a great title it is.Resistance is all about 'aliens' called chimera. they were humans but have been infected and have been muted into chimera using conversion centres. In just two months the chimera took over all of Europe and have arrived at England. Which is where the game kicks of...You play as Hale a solider who is trying to defeat the chimera with the rest of humanity. Right at the beginning of the game he gets infected but not...

Resistance: Fall of Man was the first shooter to make an appearence on the Playstation 3 Platform. Hyped postively from it's last successful franchise-Ratchet and Clank and developer-Insomniac, there wasn't much reason not to be hyped around the title. Unfortunately Resistance didn't deliver the promise it had made although delivering on most fronts, it hadn't delivered on all fronts that it had promised. But you can't knock it all off Resistance, it's still a fantastic shooter. Soon after the ...

Very Vanilla 0

This is one of those must-have PS3 games, still even after ~2 years. I personally would like the debate the must-haviness of Resistance. Not much about this game stands out from the crowd, in fact much of it tries its hardest to blend it. An alien invasion forces you, as a one man army pretty much, to save the world. Yeah, awesome... You're a generically named, generic looking US soldier fighting in generic war torn towns achieving goals of the I-don't-care variety. The game is, simply, too old ...

Resistance Review 0

Every new gaming console has their "killer" games at launch. The Xbox 360 had Call of Duty 2 and the Wii had The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Well the killer launch game for the Playstation 3 was hands down Resistance: Fall of Man. Resistance was first announced well before the PS3 even had a release date and ever since the first interview with Insomniac Games the fans have been going nuts. Well guess what.... Its finally here but did it make a big impact that Sony wanted?Resistance:...

Resistance: Fall of Man 0

Despite being a huge fan of Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank series, I had for whatever reason to this point avoided trying their new franchise for this generation, Resistance. Now I wish I had tried it sooner, but not because it was really good and I was missing out. The first Resistance game was a launch title, and while it's probably above average by that standard, it definitely feels every bit like the five year old game that it is. Not only is it not up to the level of subsequent, groundbreaki...

Can Resistance Tackle other FPS? 0

Difficulty: Hard Time Spent: 10 to 20 Hours "Great multiplayer" Resistance Fall of Man features a multiplayer mode for 40 players. The game features melee attacks, and the motion sensing. The game developers also tried to add oldstyle weapons and futuristic weapons corresponding to the storyline. The game also has the feature of ranked and custom matches which is good to have fun and really play the online game to gain awards and etc. While playing online you will either be assigned to the Hu...

Undoubtedly the best game of the PS3's launch 0

Resistance: Fall of Man, the greatest video game to grace the Playstation 3's launch lineup. In fact, it's the only game to actually GRACE the launch. Fall of Man is a first person shooter that exceeds all expectations required in a great FPS. It can proudly stand up there in the spotlight with Halo and Call of Duty. STORYThe story of Resistance is definitely unique. The Chimeran(The enemies in the game.) virus spreads throughout Asia and Europe in the early 1900s, changing the course of history...

Resistance offers an old school style fps with next-gen power 0

Whenever a new console launches there is usually one title that either defines the system or easily becomes the killer app. Resistance is clearly the #1 title for the PS3 at launch. Insomniac, the developers behind the Spyro and Ratchet and Clank series, go back to their roots with Resistance since their first title for the PS1 was a game called Disruptor. While Resistance doesn’t change or add anything new to the FPS genre or present CG quality visuals, it is still one of the best FPS games to ...

Solid Shooter 0

Resistance is a solid shooter for the PS3. There are some problems with the game. The guns are weak. There are two types of guns; Chimera and Human. Since this is a world war 2 shooter the Human guns feel outdated and old and to make it worst the chimera guns sound like toys and don't feel right when shooting with them. The single player syory line isn't interesting and a lack of cutscenes greatly bring it down. Also half way through the game you go through a maze that pissed me off because it r...

The first truely grat game for PS3 0

Resistance fall of man by Insomniac games Resistance is a launch game for the PS3 and if you own one, you best pick up this game. It is definatly one of the best Next gen FPS so far. It has a very creative alternative history which definatly one of the best things about this game it delivers for a great experience. A Perfect Start 0

Resistance Fall of Man was the most anticipated game to first launch on the PlayStation 3 and it delivered. With a great lengthy, interesting campaign, offline co-op and up to 40 player online multiplayer it is truly the perfect start for the PS3.The game starts in 1951, with the protagonist, Sgt. Nathan Hale, as part of the United States Army Rangers' 5,000-man task force to help liberate Britain and to retrieve a secret weapon that the British claim can be used against the Chimera. However, th...
