This game looks more appealing to me then the Prime games.  Maybe I will check it out soon.

I'm not a huge fan of the Metroid series but watching this QL reminds me a lot of Shadow Complex.  I can deffinatly see where most of the inspiration for that game came from.

I admit that until Brad actually said so, I couldn't tell if he was enjoying himself at all.  But the game looks cool.  The comments, however, are something else.  Somehow "broken" has come to mean "a design decision that I don't like" and the mere idea of doing something differently is apparently so appalling that we can't even stomach the concept of it - much less try it out.

I thought this looked pretty cool.

I never play the Wii even though we have one, so I'll pass, but I'd play this over a Metroid Prime game.

I think it's pretty awesome and it has to have a hard mode with no auto dodging or w\e that thing was.

Sounds like they went out of their way to make a gimmicky, clunky control scheme just to kinda overcome it and be different.

I am interested in this game, but I don't know how much I'll get out of it as I've never actually played a Metroid game.  From some of the stuff Brad said with fanservice, it sounds like people who have played Metroid beforehand will get more out of it.  As for the control scheme, it does sound weird and the game would probably have benefited from analog movement, but it looks fully functional and seems like something you have to play before making any judgment on it.

I agree this is a weird control scheme.  He said it started as a 2D product but made it's way to the 3rd dimension.  It sounds like the controls didn't though.

Too bad, I thought it would be fun but this quick look has me thinking "meh"

The controls look like they could become really frustrating in important or tight spots.

Not too sure about this. Looks lovely and all, but would be pretty frustrating to go into first person and as you're about to fire, get hit by the enemy you're aiming for.

So, what exactly happened to Samus that made her super agile and (team) ninja-like after Super Metroid and then made her lose it all in Fusion? Yeah, yeah, the parasite infection. No. In the Fusion prologue cinematic she was back to her old plodding, slow ass self even before she was infected.

Who cares, right? Well, apparently, I do. I don't like it when people make prequel games and go out of their way to make them flashier and more crazy then the game they precede. It totally ruins my sense of continuity.

Also, this looks like a god damn mess of a game. They could have improved so much with the addition of nunchuck controls.

So when did the Prime series become bad? They are practically Bioshock set in the Metroid universe with a greater emphases on exploring the environment.

It takes a strange kind of genius to put Team Ninja in charge of your female lead. I can only imagine the lengths Nintendo had to go too to prevent boob jiggle.

I can't fault them for trying something new with this game, especially since they apparently succeeded. I'm less thrilled about the plot though, I don't think Metroid needed achingly sincere anime melodrama. Still I hope I enjoy this when I pick it up.

Super Metroid introduced beam abilities that all stacked. So if you got charge and wave, you could charge  the wave beam. The Ice beam simply let your beam freeze enemies. Metroid Zero Mission stacked beams, and so did Metroid Fusion. However, you did get the option to toggle different beam functions for some reason, even though it wasn't a key game play element and it was just better to use all of them at once.

The Metroid Prime series was the first game that made you switch back and forth to use different beams.

As a video game, this looks kind of a mess of different controls.  The entire way through Brad has to keep explaining, "and when you do this, it's auto aim, and when you run here you're sort of on rails"; I don't get what kind of game they wanted to make.  And on top of that he said the story is cheesy and voice acting is flat.  It doesn't look very focused.

This gamer looks so damn unfocused, with so many different play-styles and control-schemes being incorporated that the developers couldn't focus on any single one.

Yeah, Metroid Prime was pretty great. It took a bit of adjustment getting used to playing a Metroid game in First person. I didn't think I would like it. The second one was pretty rough though but for a lot of other reasons. I never got around to playing Metroid Prime 3, although my roommate always said it was awesome.

Yep, just what I thought, a streamlined casual thing.

you don't have to aim, you don't have to evade, unlimited life and ammo, and that switching back and forth between  first person and third person controls sounds frustrating as hell, I'll pass.

So, I just watched GameTrailer's video, and the only thing I really want to point out is... HOLY FUCK Samus' voice is so flat. Her tits and ass aren't, but her fucking voice sure was.

You think the Heavy Rain kids spoke in monotone? This voice actor brought it onto a WHOLE new level.

This looks awesome. It is exactly what I would think a current gen Metroid should be like. Granted the first person Metroids were good, but they just weren't the same.

Yeah that first person view really needs to add some movement to it, I could see that being a bit annoying.

The PAL versions of Metroid Prime had a voice-over during the intro that said Samus Aran exactly like Bradley claims this game does. Zebes, I don't know about. But hey, it's Zebes... formerly spelled Zebeth. It looks unpronouncable enough that I don't care how anyone says it as long as it's somewhat recognizable.

I still totally don't know how I should feel about this game. I love Metroid, but all this really makes me want to do is go back and play Metroid Prime, then go back and play Ninja Gaiden...

Always pronounced her name as they said was proper in this game, like the name Erin.   As for Zebes, I was wrong on that one, pronounced that like Jeeves.  "Zee-bs"...pronouncing it like "Ze-bus" seems so wrong to me.  But I guess, in japanese, that would be how it'd sound "ze-be-su" (and know that the u in su is damn near silent when spoken usually).  The rule phonetics work in favor of what they say is proper for Aran as well, "a-ra-n"
