So I never played a Guilty Gear game, but when I saw that the main dude's name was "Sol Badguy" I lost it. This got me thinking what are some of the worst named video game characters I could think of. Feel free to add your own in the comments.

When you say "worst" when talking about Sol Badguy what you really mean is "totally awesome", right?

Sol Badguy is a walking Freddie Mercury reference, which makes him awesome.  Too tired to think of any really terrible names right now.

So it "sorta" makes sense. 
 
Also, I've never realized that Lotta Hart was a pun until just now.

There is a fine line between terrible names and good names, and it can be hard to tell them apart.
A terrible name is one that makes you cringe whenever you hear it. An good name is one that can give you a feel for the character, while still sounding feasible/interesting.

The japanese name of Leanne from Resonance of Fate is the worst; Reanbell.

You just helped me realize how much I love the character naming in the Ace Attorney games.

I love the name Sol Badguy. Still, as fighting games go, the most ridiculous name I can think of is Khushnood Butt from Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves.

Eggman. Dr. Robotnik is way better.

Every name from Final Fantasy 13 is just bad.  Ace Attorney is like a kids cartoon, so the names work perfectly with the tone.

When they introduced Lotta Hart, I was just like, "Really?" Everything else is pretty excusable.

Some of the initial-surname combos spat out by the GT5 B-Spec name generator are pretty hilarious. I got U.Frankfurter and thought it sounded like a bad insult.
 
In predetermined names, I think of the following:

• Misty
• Lost Odyssey's Ming and Seth, the former applied to a non-Chinese girl seems a bit rubbish, and the latter applied to a girl seems strange to me. No offence intended to people that actually have these names.
• Cloud Strife, Squall Leonhart, Rinoa Heartilly, Aerith Gainsborough, the list goes on and on in the FF universe. FF13 has no characters save for maybe Sazh and Jihl that actually have reasonable names. Chrono Trigger also has some "out-there" names.

I'm sort of surprised to not see Rock (aka Mega Man), Roll, Blues (aka Proto Man), Bass/Forte, and Treble/Gospel on this list.  Though, I am somewhat fond of those names myself.

I asked for that game the year it came out for Christmas. My grandma (RIP) went from store to store asking people for "Seamen". My grandson put seamen on his Christmas list, do you have it?" It was finally when she handed over my actual list to a KB Toys employees were they able to determine what she was looking for.

I think that Melbu Frahma, from The Legend of Dragoon, is one of the best character names ever, but I'm pretty sure most people would disagree with me.

I always thought Waluigi was an unappreciated character in the Nintendo universe. He needs more love, but I guess he's stuck being on the lower end of the character spectrum.
