Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway 0

Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway attempts to present the player with a harsh, realistic insight into World War II.   While it certainly does this more successfully than any other game before it, it does comes with its fair share of flaws. You assume the role of Sergeant Baker, a D-Day survivor determined not to lose any more men in battle.   A determination that is somewhat undermined when the player takes control, and Baker shows little emotion for his fallen comrades.   The story follows th...

One of the best WW2 games I've played 2

WW2 is a bit overdone by now. So many games playing the same few moments over and over again. By now I think that D-Day has been repeated 50 million times.  But Brothers In Arms does something different. It actually has a decent story and a brilliant gameplay. Similarly,  the setting and graphics put it aside onto a pile of brilliant games. First is the setting. This time the action is shifted from D-Day to what some consider to be one of the worst waste of life of the late war, Operation Market...

    Worth the wait. 0

It feels like it's been 3 years waiting for this game...oh wait it has. This game has been delayed--then delayed--then delayed--then delayed.I think there's a few more delays in that list, but I also think you get the point that the game has been in development for a long time. This is the third entry into the BIA series and is easily the worst of the three.Which may sound like I'm saying this is a bad game, but it's not.You play as Staff Sergeant Matt Baker as he try's to command his friends in t...

World War II Isn't Dead Yet 1

The Brothers In Arms series has been giving gamers a new way to play World War II, and has become a well known franchise for it's blend of intense action and squad-based tactics. In the first game, you took control of Sergeant Matt Baker, and the series starts off with a bang as your are thrown out of an airplane into Nazi infested territory. The series made a sudden change with the next game as you are put into the boots of Baker's pal, Hartsock. With the newest entry to the series and the firs...

Game Review #4: Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway – Gearbox Software 0

Upon the completion of the final installation in Gearbox Software’s acclaimed trilogy, I have quite a lot to say. Not a lot of it is good. Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway was released on PC on October 8th, 2008, and takes the protagonists of the previous games (who for review purposes I will now name) Matt Baker and Joseph ‘Red’ Hartsock directly into Operation Market Garden, the ambitious offensive planned by the foolhardy General Montgomery to bridge a path along the N...

    Good Game 0

The graphics look pretty good throughout the whole game. One feature i really liked was the slow-mo head shots that occurred from time to time. When enemies are shot, they actually appear to suffer from injury or death. Grenade kills are great! My only dislike was too much story plot that you could NOT skip!I just wanted to skip the story scenes and get to killing but I was often stuck in 5 minute scenes of dialogue between characters, which BTW, is not that great. Lack of emotion and the mouthin...

One of the best WWII shooters you'll ever play. 0

Following the previous games, Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway puts you in the shoes of Sergent Matt Baker as you lead a squad and fight in the historical Operation Market Garden. The game leaves a good first impression as it helps you get back in touch with the band of solders you have learned to know and love in the first two games. It also gives you a little refresher of the first two games if you haven't played them in a while. While it does take a while to get into, it does a good job of le...

A powerful story, but somewhat disappointing gameplay. 0

Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway finally gets it right. What right, exactly? The story. Gearbox’s third entry into their innovative (I’m being serious here.) tactical WWII shooter tells a gripping, emotionally resonant narrative, that really might conjure tears from the more sensitive. There’s a weird trade-off that comes with this, though. For all the improvements in storytelling, the tactical gameplay that was so prominent in the first two games is significantly downplayed. The game attempts ...

A great and immersive experience. 0

I remember I played the first Brothers in Arms when it came out, I played it, liked it, but the game never got me that interested to make it to the end. Hell's Highway was a different experience. With the new generation potential, the Ubisoft team tried hard and delivered an immerse World War 2 experience. Yes, more World War 2, but you know what? From the moment I got into the game I could not care if I had a super-mega-lasers gun or a Thompson, the game is simply good. You can see the game as ...

Not just another WWII shooter. 0

The first thing I need to make clear is this game is not another run of the mill WWII shooter. It is a FPS game that takes place in WWII but it offers game play mechanics that are rarely if ever seen in the run of the mill WWII FPS titles, thankfully this game has those features as it is what separates it from the dark abyss of uncompleted forgettable games.BIA: HH offers you the ability to command various squads to fight by your side. You can instruct these squads to set up flanks, suppress fir...

    An unexpected surpirse 0

Brother's in Arms HH. Is a solid game with a gripping story. A lot of people came in with the notion, that this will be as good as Modern Warfare. That sucks because this game is more on the strategic side and team work than running up and shooting someone. The voice work for this game is fantastic. I enjoyed it, and it does have flaws But that shouldn't keep you away from picking this up used at the bargain bin. ...

Micro-Review: One of the Biggest Surprises on the 360 0

If you are looking for a run and gun shooter, then this is not your game. However, if you are looking for a paced tactical game then this will fit the bill.   While this game touts itself to be an FPS, you spend most of your time in 3rd person viewing behind cover directing your squads and teammates around the field. This is not really a bad thing.   The gameplay is extremely well done and the developers made excellent use of a cover and suppression system for maneuvering around the enemy. Wh...

    Omg this is awesome 0

I don't  say this about ww2 games any more but DAMN THIS IS AWESOME ! Games about ww2 aren't fun anymore  but this game makes me love it again . This is the third game in the series and it is out standing . The Graphics look great . The controls are a little tricky but everything else is great . This game lives up to the dramatic story lines of  it '' fathers '' This game doesn't feature great multiplayer no much of it  . Its focus is on the story line were you take control of 101st Airborne tro...

Strategic squad-based action makes for a fantastic experience. 0

Let’s just get this out of the way: Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway is, hands-down, the best WWII game of this console generation… period.  Continuing the tale of the 101st Airborne Division, Hell’s Highway recounts the 101st Division’s role in the ultimately unsuccessful Market Garden campaign.   Once again, players assume the role of Sergeant Matt Baker as he leads his squad through setpiece battles across the Dutch countryside in an ill-conceived attempt to push on further to German soil.The...

    ARMS IN ARMS 0

Me and Brothers In Arms go back to the early Xbox 1 days of its excistance. I love the tactical aspects of this kind of shooter. The story is awsome even if you never played the previous games. The graphics in the game are top notch as well as the voice acting and animations. The game can be fast pace at times but you cant go run and gun, you must think about every move you do to reach a certain spot. Cover is key to this game and to out flank your enemy you must use your platoon wisely. The mut...

On a Highway To Hell 0

A lot of people are tired of the World War II setting but I just can't seem to get enough of it. After consuming the above average and quite fun Call of Duty: World at War I was still itching for some classic warfare and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway was there to scratch my itch and it did a good job too. The Brothers in Arms series has a long and storied history, none of which I know because Hell's Highway is my first foray into the series lore. That said I was drawn into the charact...

Interesting, but not good enough 0

This is a different take on the first person shooter, where control of your AI team should be more important than your own sharpshooting abilities. Sadly your own team don't have quite enough sense and the enemy still end up standing still and waiting for you to creep up on them. When you enter buildings your teammates wait outside for some reason, and the game some become a single player FPS for a while. The story is incomprehensible if you don't know the series and frankly the cut-scenes don't...

A Shockingly Unique WWII Shooter. 0

We live in a world where the WWII first person shooter is not only common but redundant. When you add up the total number of Brothers in Arms, Medal of Honor and Call of Duty games- with the exception of 4 of course- you get a number that looks a little like an 8 rotated 90 degrees (infinity). The constant output of WWII games had certainly lowered the anticipation of the Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway release. Despite the redundancy I decided to take a look at this game and I am certainly gla...

    A good enough game that I don't even mind it's set in WW2. 0

ProsPretty intense action that utilizes cover mechanics well. A story less about the war and more about a handful of the people in it, which gives it a more personal touch then some other games provide. More blood and gore then the average war game. Hands achievements out like candy, so if you like seeing your gamer score go up then this is a great game for it. ConsSometimes rather then hide in the position you tell them too the AI members of your squad will stand dumbly in the open, getting sh...

A great tactical first person shooter 0

Brothers in Arms is definitely a FPS through and through although  it provides a somewhat slower paced experience than other FPS games. All enemy teams (small groups of a few enemies each) are marked with icons above them which indicates their suppression level. If it’s red, then the enemy isn’t suppressed at all and will fire on you and your teams at will. If the icon is completely gray, though, they are suppressed and they will fire but only from cover, so they are far less threatening. When e...

It is quite an experience. 0

Over the last couple of years there has been quite a lot of talk about how stale WWII games are getting. I think that most gamers can understand why. Most of the games go over the same things, D-day, Operation Market Garden, and other famous WWII campaigns. If we focus on the first person shooters of the bunch (the most popular I would imagine) we find that they are all a bit samey. Some try to mix it up by having you jump out of an airplane or briefly take over an AA gun but you still go throug...

    BIA: HH My Review 1

Remember when you first looked up games coming to your console. Every new console has those games that are “coming soon”. Sometimes these slip away from the expected release date, and sometimes they show up when you least expect it. Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is one of those games. Announced early on, and missing its orginal release date by about a year. I can still remember seeing the footage of a soldier walking while looking up in a window of house. A frenzied lady pointing to a Ge...

    Fantastic *Contains Spoiler(s)* 0

Not much to tell, unless you want spoilers.... Hell's Highway is one of those games where, you have to have played at least one of the previous games, in this case, Road to Hill 30. The storyline is based on most of the events which have happened in the past, (such as Leggett being killed), Sgt Matt Baker, our Hero of this game, kind of goes crazy. It first starts when you are in a graveyard, and in the distance Leggett can be heard, shouting "If you want me take me!!! Take Me!!!!!!!". Another p...

Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway for the Xbox 360 2

Knowledge about the story going into the game:                    Very little knowledge going into the game. I knew it took place during World War II, and that there were other games in the franchise prior to Hell's Highway. I haven't played the other Brothers in Arms games. Opinions after the game:                   Brother's in Arms: Hell's Highway is a game that tells a great recounting of the events of Operation Market Garden during World War II through the eyes of Matthew Baker's squad. ...

    Great game! 2

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (BIA:HH) is a great game full of tons of features! They Story tells about the story of US troops in WW2 { didn't see that coming }. It has vegas style controls, and good squad system and a really good cover system. It not like COD, this game you need cover! The main way to kill enemy AI ( which is actually quite good ) is to have your team suppress fire onto them until the dot above there head goes from red (active) to grey (taking cover). Then you keep h...

PSN - Full Game Trial 0

I played the Full Game Trial of this game on PSN. My opinions are only about the first hour of the game.Hell's Highway is my first foray into the Brothers in Arms series. The story seems to be woven deeply into the wider Brothers in Arms series. The pistol in the game will come to play a large role, I believe. Along with the deep story, the visuals help to make the interplay between the characters much more detailed and believable then almost any other first person shooter set in WWII.With only ...

this is not the best game in the world but is still a fun game, it looks great and the story is nothing you haven't seen in a ww2 game or movie or book. but what sets this game apart from all the other ww2 games is the tatical part about it.ordering your soliders around and the controls are good. the chectare animation is goood but its the same thing you have seen and played in any ww2 game. what else can i say about this game did this game need more time ? Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway PS3 Review 0

Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a World War II squad tactical shooter. In the game you play as Ssgt. Baker, commander of an airborne army squad. The story is like a epic theatrical movie. There are many characters to know and some you might get attached to.The campaign takes you through many environments from warehouses to the open fields of Holland. The gameplay is mostly move here and suppress that enemy. There's a lot of tactics to put in. Your MG squad will suppress the enemy and tear up...
