Thats a great idea. Halo gets really crazy when you start to bring forge maps and custom game types into the mix.
Some other ideas...
  • AC: Brotherhood was awesome.
  • I find 3rd person games more compelling to watch then FPSs so maybe something like Uncharted 2 or Gears of War 2.
  • Left 4 Dead 2 verses.
  • Try other RTSs like Dawn of War II.
  • Monday Night Combat.
  • Star Wars Battlefront II

NBA JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diablo 2

Worms, with the entire office.

Garry's Mod.

I'd go for any decent arcade style driving games.  NFS Hot Pursuit, Burnout etc.  I know the idea is to get away from shooters but  Halo is always fun.  At least you get some chaos to look at rather than kill cams.  I seem to remember Drew doing some pretty good skulls wins and some nice jousting in Blood Gulch (or whatever it's called these days) on the Reach TNT.

Dunno if this has been brought up (there's like 100+ comments now), but I'm not sure why it always has to be an online multiplayer with Giant Bomb users. I mean, it's cool you're reaching out to the community, but you're already doing us a huge service by putting on this streaming live show. What I'd like to see is more in-office local/LAN multiplayer with the rest of us commenting in our typically raucous, peanut-gallery style. Stuff like the Starcraft 2 Brad vs Norman Chan contest was just as much fun before they started pulling others into their grudge match.
Honestly, this cuts out a lot of having to deal with connection issues and allows more participation from beloved Giant Bomb peripheries like Will, Norm, Dave, Coonce, Alex, Rorie or other WM employees who are passing by or even the UPS guy who is just there to deliver packages of exotic foreign jerky to Brad (not a euphemism).

Starcraft 2 TNTs have been my personal favourite so far. Mainly because of the great insight of Ryan and Vinny.
Other than that, Assasins Creed 2 for sure. Liked the 1st TNT with it and the stuff they have added so far seems interesting.

I think you should go for games that have multiplayer but that the community has never blossomed for.  FPS's that would work for this: Far Cry 2 (360), Unreal Tournament 3 (360).  That being said, a rockstar night would be cool (GTIV and RDR), and monday night combat would be cool.  I'd also suggest you go to the format where you maybe publish a list beforehand of what you will play (or not) and then cycle through the list.  You all did this with one of the 'old school' game nights- and I liked that, it would be cool to do that with modern games too.  Might maybe keep you less bored as well?

An adventure in PS2 era games, such as the first Socom and Tony Hawk.
I would enjoy watching MMO's, perhaps a night of PVP or just getting together with the community to /dance and other assorted hijinks.

#113 Posted by TestamentUK (61 posts) -

Starcraft 2 and Brotherhood would be my top two choices.
Personally I find fighting games incredibly boring to watch, but I think I may be in the minority there. I do like the idea of doing older games though, especially if it means less TNT's involving games that aren't out in Europe until the following day (or later).

I know that this will be shot down almost immediately, but use the Netplay/Kaillera feature in emulators for older games.

GTA4, it would be awesome random fun.

#116 Posted by BulletproofMonk (2739 posts) -

Burnout: Paradise would be a great one.

Racing games seem to be a bit under represented so my vote goes to Wipeout HD. Looks great, still fun as hell and doesn't require that much attention to play at an OK level.

#119 Posted by Vager (1654 posts) -

I would say Nox. PvP was AMAZING in that game:

I doubt the servers are still up though. :(

Killing Floor would be a great game to play on TNT also. Jeff will probably not like it though, it's kinda like CoD's Nazi Zombies.
I will also added my vote to Mount & Blade: Warband!

Mount & Blade Warband would be fun. As would Garry's Mod. And Worms. Maybe some Burnout Paradise too.
Also, what about some random Source mods? By now, everyone virtually everyone with a PC has a Source game on Steam (Especially since Portal was free for a good long period a while ago), so playing some Source mods would give a really large selection of people (many of whom maybe don't buy many of the newest releases when they come out) to take part, and give you a chance to show some games that you maybe wouldn't normally cover on Giant Bomb. I know most of them are still First Person Shooters, which doesn't really solve the FPS problem, but I still think it would be cool to try it out.

Racing games could work. If you want to do a retro TNT, some Ratchet and Clank games are always a good laugh if you want platforming.

#123 Posted by Cloudenvy (5891 posts) -

My vote goes to Red Faction: Guerilla.

#124 Posted by zaglis (910 posts) -

Garrys Mod
What could possibly go wrong?

#125 Edited by Jasta (2217 posts) -

Counter Strike 1.6, Unreal Tournament 2004

That game has already been done on TNT

and guess what...

 I Won!

#126 Posted by Khann (2922 posts) -

Mount and Blade: Warband without hesitation.
All I ask is that you please get someone who actually enjoys these games to play it... or at the very least can have some fun with it.

#127 Posted by Sayishere (1841 posts) -

Assassins creed brotherhood would be fun to watch
some fighting games, maybe like DC vs mortal combat? or even marvel vs capcom 3
even better than that would be games like GTA 4 or red dead redemption, gather up some dudes and go free for all hehe

#128 Posted by MeierTheRed (4942 posts) -

Bad Company 2

#129 Posted by RecSpec (4068 posts) -

I second Warband.

Nba Jam (last Nba Jam TNT was awesome)
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (also had a great TNT)
MK2, UMK3, MK vs DC
XBLA/PSN TNT featuring: Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Rocket Riot, Toy Soldiers, Age of Booty, Gripshift, PSN Tetris, and Wipeout HD
Mortorstorm: Pacific Rift
Burnout Paradise
Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
In summary: more racing games, bring back NBA Jam and another XBLA/PSN TNT would be fun.
#133 Posted by ShaggE (6829 posts) -

More fighting games, definitely. While it limits the people who get to play, it's one of the more fun genres to watch.  MK vs DC would be a good choice, since it's not in-depth enough to require oodles of concentration, and there's still an active (albeit small) player community.  Well, that, and the MK2/3 TNT is one of my favorites.
I also really enjoyed the downloadable game TNTs. More of those would be awesome.

Absolutely. RFG's multiplayer is amazing.
I would also like to see Left 4 Dead 1 or 2. I'm not sure how well it would work given the length of most versus matches, but I'm sure there's a way.

" SC2's always a really fun TNT, but I'm sure people that don't play SC2 are sick of seeing that. Fighting games seem like a good second though, they're fun to watch, and I agree that first person shooters get old to watch someone else play really quick. "
I don't play Starcraft and the last one they did is one of two TNTs I have actually stayed up to watch. That and the Team Fortress 2 one.
Something with Swords I say.

Gran Turismo 5,

I like when you play lots of different games. It helps keep the 2 hours fresh and exciting, but is probably more difficult to organise.

#138 Posted by RenMcKormack (1074 posts) -

or we could hack into the Japanese servers and play RE Outbreak File 2

Why has this not been done yet? Nations Forever is free for everyone at least and that is still fun.  They can even spend some time on united as well for those who bought it.
#140 Posted by RenMcKormack (1074 posts) -

i actually also agree with some folks that maybe you feel TNT is stale is because you do it every week.  do it like every other week and blow it out, like have prizes and stuff.

#141 Posted by DrHawking (211 posts) -

I think it would be really cool to see some Age of Empires 2 for some throwback stuff. And length would make it terrible but, I would love a Civ 5 TNT.

#142 Posted by The_Laughing_Man (13629 posts) -

Crysis 2 again
BFBC2 Vietnam.

#143 Posted by HT101 (1208 posts) -

Man, I need to play some more Burnout: Paradise.  I would love to see that game and Saints Row 2 would be great with the craziness of that game anyway.
#144 Posted by DeeGee (2150 posts) -

It amuses me greatly how many people are suggesting first person shooters.

#145 Posted by craigbo180 (1726 posts) -

How about some worms up in this business?

#146 Posted by Grissefar (2830 posts) -

Demon's Souls because:
- It'll be hilarious for you to talk about
- It could be any character, either Vinnys or a new one
- Easy planning, just announce a spot where people should drop their stones, where people normally wouldn't so Vinny can summon 2 people from Giant Bomb.

#147 Posted by Chaossebba (287 posts) -

My suggestions would be (If at any blasted point) Marvel VS Capcom 3 had a spectator mode in it, to do that one again. After it's one of the more interesting things to watch I think, even if you don't understand half of whats going on. I mean what other game are you going to see Wesker beat up on a God in the form a wolf together with Captain America.
My other suggestion would be a versus game of Left 4 Dead 2 on the pc since that would be rather shenanigans, but those can take a while so thats maybe off. I know we can expect an MK9 TNT when that releases though.
And there goes my well of ideas for right now

#148 Posted by Cube (4366 posts) -

Mortal Kombat when it comes out.

#149 Posted by mubress (1517 posts) -
@Jasta: OK spose I should've realised Wipeout had been done, although they've done some games a few times.
Anyway, I've given it some thought and as fighting games seem to be quite popular they should just play SSFIV again. Except this time play a few hours earlier so I can play :)

I myself would like to really like to see a Dawn of War game..I'd like to see how they work. I'd also like to see Riven, though there I have no personal interest besides the fact I am curious. this site should do a QL of Riven if poss., Throw in the wash and be done with it, like games such as WOW are around here. I almost opposs those games existances, but still  Riven might be a neat place to explore for a couple of hours.
To a lessor extant, any other RTS type games,  and I appreciatte this thread.
Oh, and if possible, another SC2 confrontation, with taunting and gestures legalized, between Norm and Brad. In fact, I think they should have it in a chain link enclosure.
