Damn it. I've already decided my Game of the Year wasn't released in 2009 (or even the 2000's), and there aren't any games that come close. Eh, I'll do it anyway.

Too bad as the years roll on, I find myself gaming less and less, and in-fact I played more of 2008's games this year :|  
 
By the time I'm ready to make my 2009 list, it'll be like fall of 2010... but actually 2008 looks to kick 2009's ass by far (from what genres I'm interested in), so maybe I'll just skip most of 2009 to catch-up.  

Psh, just made my list yesterday, gonna have to make another now! 

Is there any easy way to see a list of all games released in 2009? I'm having a hard time remembering just what all was released this year.

I'm using the rest of my vacation time to get the entire week after Christmas off so I can catch up on games. Even then, I'll still be tight on time for catching up and making meaningful picks.

No way...  I'm slow this year, I haven't even played Uncharted 2 or that Batman game.  I don't know where my vote would go anyway because so far the games I've been playing were cool, but nothing super special.

Off to make my list now, great work guys :)

do we have to have 10? Left 4 Dead 2 (PC) and Dragon Age(PC) are the only two games i liked that came out this year. How can we specify what platform too?

Uncharted 2, Dragon Age, and then Killzone 2. Risen is up there as well.

Looks like Jeff is voting for Jackie Chan. That is the only real choice if you ask me.

Neat idea.  Will 2-9 be weighted and included in the User GOTY calculation, or will they just be used for other stuff*?

What release date do we go by because for instance persona 4 came out in Europe this year so can I vote for it, or do i have to go by the US release date which means i cant vote for it.

I haven't played all the games I need to play, so my list is a bit of the "generic popular games".

Demon's Souls is my game of the year but since I know there's no way it's going to beat out the more likely contenders, Uncharted 2 gets my vote.

 If I remember correctly Tekken 6 was released in the arcades, then Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion was released in the arcades, then Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion was released for home consoles BUT it was renamed to Tekken 6 since the original version was never released at home. So I'm not sure which is classed as which with the GB wiki pages. "

compiling this list made me realize that this year was pretty amazing for console gamers, or at least ps3 owners like myself (because i haven't really kept up with 360 news this year, so idk as much about that.)  #1 = Uncharted 2, by far. it's easily one of the best games i've ever played, and one of maybe two or three games that i think truly deserve a 10/10.

Seems like a really horrible way to do it while hiding it so not many people will even vote. 
 
Needs to have a main page feature where you can put your list in, instead of making you go to a page page and create a list from there. I mean I didn't even know lists existed.

Not sure if I played 10 new games this year. 
 
My list will be the 8 or so new games I played this year, in order of best to worst.

Ryan hates everything in the world, Jeff is a weirdo that likes to speed run through every game and waste his life playing horrible games for Achievement Points, Dave gets an erection from PC games only, Vinny and Brad are hippies and the Giantbomb community hasn't played all of the games this year so how can their opinions be trusted?

see what i'm gettin at? there's no video game award system in the world that isnt just a bunch of opinions from quirky people EXCEPT:

the GDC Awards.

THOSE are the awards given by game developers. if a game developer can respect another enemy game developer's game so much that they give them an award, then you KNOW its the real deal. this is why so many hidden gems win stuff at the GDC Awards.

but stuff like the VGA's, IGN awards, Giantbomb Awards, is for the birds. not the cool birds like Flamingos and Terradactyls. for pigeons.

How exactly does GB go about registering these votes? Are we allowed to change the title and/or description of the list? Would a manually created list called "Best of 2009" count as well? Is your list disqualified if you have less or more than 10 games in it?
 
It would be nice if GB could shed some light on these things so people don't go out of their way to make a list that's actually worth reading through only to not have it count as a vote because they changed the description of it or added a few "honorable mentions" because 10 slots just wasn't enough.
