I'm sure this thread has been made plenty of times but anyway what game(s) got you into gaming? I'm an oldie first game I probably played was pacman or donkeykong.
Games that got you started as a gamer?
I'd probably say Super Smash Bros. Melee. I played many games before it, but this was the game that started me on the path of the gamer.
Either Super Mario World or Zelda A Link to the Past when I was like 4 or 5. The guy that lived in the apartment next to us played games so it was cool. He told me what was good and let me borrow a lot of stuff. It's funny cuz those are the two games that I've prolly beaten the most.
"My Sega Genesis came with Ms. Pacman and I got Mickey Mouse's Castle of Illusion for my birthday that year. That was it for me.Sonic 2 sealed the deal when it came out."Good one, that is kinda how I got into Sega. Just replace Ms Pacman for Golden Axe 2
I'm one of the trillion dudes that got in with Super Mario Bros though
I played a ton of C64 games when I was a kid, but I can't really remember any of them.
However, I have a few game experiences that have defined me:
- Super Mario Bros.: I got a NES for christmas and I probably lived inside the mushroom kingdom for a month afterwards.
- Mega Man 5: While I appreciate MM2 and MM3 more today, MM5 is the game I played the most and it was awesome... or so I thought...
- Final Fantasy VII: My all time favorite, this game really was my introduction to the RPG genre and the first time I played it, I thought. "This is dumb." and chucked it behind my copies of *shameful admission* Battle Arena Toshinden and Tomorrow Never Dies... But I brought it out a year later and I was spellbound from beginning to end. I would sit for hours running around, fighting monsters. ***spoiler, I guess*** And yes, I cried when Aeris died. ***you can look now***
- Tekken 3: Best fighting game ever, and I know a lot of people will dispute me on this. To me though, this game was mindblowing when I first played it.
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblvion: Okay, this doesn't really belong here because it's too new, but I thought I had to mention it. While I still maintain that FFVII is my favorite game of all time, this runs a very close second. In fact, there's no game I've ever played as much as this and I play games for a long, long time. I've put in 1000 hours at least, or a month and a half.
The first game I remember playing was one of the Alex Kidd games which was built into my Master System.
The first game I ever "chose" to buy was Chameleon Kid on the Megadrive.
But at the same time I remember playing alot of Street Fighter II on the SNES at a friends place.
So yeah, a bit different to others.
Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World made me want to play games. I tried, but I only kept falling and dying. I'm thinking that might be the answer you're looking for.
Im fucking young.Probably posted this sometime but Half Life 1.
I played small pointless games like Bubble Bobble,Pacman and Counter Strike but Half Life 1 convinced me that games actually interacted with me as a player and had a point to them.I didnt have much exposure to games at that time.I was young and lived in a tiny Eastern European country.
